  1. if it was me i would go for the 15 quid one

the lexus one will last the longest and you would not have to chop any plugs around but its the price

i would not leave it as it may do damage later on

i have taken my ones off and the two cats for replacing the gearbox and i can tell you the plugs are not easy things to get to you have to take the front carpets up to unplug the to feed though the floor you have to lift the rear heating pipes up not pulling them hard and braking them like i did to one ( well it was stuck :D )

OK, for lack of time and foresight I bought a universal one from partco (unipart) at £47.

I spliced the wires underneath the car to avoid the problems lutonmatt experienced - and only time will tell how waterproof the joins are.

Oh.. The colours of the wires are all different as well, I think I connected them OK, but am yet to try and pull any codes - will repost when I do.

  2. This morning I ran over something like a wheel arch fron a lorry on the motorway. It has snapped my downstream O2 sensor (the one after the cat). After limited research it looks like I have four options:-

    1. Do nothing - no error lights are showing, will this damage the cats, or anything else?

    2. Replace with Lexus part at £158 +VAT

    3. Get part from US at roughly £58 + shipping

    4. Buy universal generic from eBay at £15 and splice in according to the lextreme tutorial.

The car is a 95 LS400, I cannot understand the price difference if they are roughly the same component. Anyone any observations?

  3. Hey,

Thanks for the replys, i diddnt know it would be that much, but i did get a good deal, 1993 ls 400 full service history, lexus stamped every year everything works and its immaculate, the only faults ive found are the speedo needle being really dim on one end and the stereo makes weird noises sometimes (stereo is no probs).

ill investigate further and let you know what happens.

ps i paid £2800 for the car!

    bargain i thought

    Mark

O ***** it was cheap..... my LS400- 93 cost when I buying it 65,000 Swedish Krones. almost £5,800 3years ago

Now I think I can get the same price when I,m sale it....

    Velcom to LOC

I was quoted £145 for a blacked out speedo needle replacement from Lexus for a 95 model
