  1. as above mate put the window all the way to the top and then hold the button up for 10 seconds if that doesn't work you will need to re-set the pressure sensor.

remove the door trim find the window motor power plug, while pressing the down button(ignition on) pull the plug off the motor then turn the ignition off......plug the motor back in then raise window half way let go of the switch then put the window to the top and hold it up for 10 seconds then realease job done.

My window has done the same thing but the window dropped to the bottom of the door, when I took of the inner panel the nuts and bolts were lose and one of the nuts had fallen in to the inner part of the door, the hole in the metal work had become bigger, I placed a washer over it first to stop the nut pulling through the hole, but when I wind the window up now it's all croaked and it keeps auto opening again! I can only close it by slidding the glass up 3/4 of the way, then start to adjust the glass with my hands which is a massive pain, especailly when you go into car parks, can anyone provide pics to help me out please!

  2. I'm thinking of changing my beloved Lex 2002 IS200 SE Auto in black with Black interior, with 53k miles, during Dec/Jan, tax, cost of service at dealers £60,000=60,000mile service! :tsktsk: petrol.

I need a spacious car as we have a baby on the way, I would like to stay with a Jap motor, but really need some advice on reliabilty, common faults, Tax price, parts, fuel and real life experiences so I get a clear picture of the following:

IS250 Just a bit to exspensive for my pocket right now

Celica 190 vvti-L: I like the shape not sure about rear space ie child seat + 11 year old

Honda Civic Type R (mark 1): good space inside, insurance

Mazda 6: Wife thinks this is step down from the Lexus.

BMW 320D/530D: I like the ecco/ and the look of 320D Touring/ just to common/ Dealers

Merc CLK: like the shape, but would be wary of dealers

    Imported

Infiniti G35/G37 I saw these in Canada and really liked them, not sure if it's the same model in Japan?

IS250/350 May work out cheaper than uk spec?

I will have about £13500 max (including my car)

  3. I collected my IS 200SE from Woodford (60k service plus other bits, price= liver and kidneys :tsktsk: ) anyway as I walked passed one of the windows saw a black IS F, I stop dead in my tracks and couldn't move, and I normally don't behave in that way at all, but it looked breathtaking!

When i composed myself I enquired about the chance of getting closer (it was sealed off from us poor folk), the service person said, it was a customers car, and any one interested in owning the same model car (just about everyone here) would have to book an appointment and viewing would be by appointment only, she also told me no one at Woodford had driven one yet!

I think lexus have done a fine job of making something different from the usual M3 stuff!

If money was no option I had to choose in order of preference :

IS F because it's great looking, fast, different and because it can do the same job as the others (not going to be common)

    RS4: Looks great, massive grip

    C63: power

    M3: looks ok

Just interested on other peoples thoughts, because if my numbers come up you know what I'm going to buy and get moddified!

Hi Matey, Took delivery of mine last wednesday, yep your right they are all they are cracked up to be, the sound is awesome, and when you want the power I can asure you its there, comfort is just like my is 250 sport was, some people say that the isf is a little harder ride due to the suspension but the seats are slightly different and seem more supple, mine is a cadoxton slate colour with black seats and blue stitching, I have had four lexus now and please with all of them, its nice to know they are not a common car, keep saving you will get one if you want it badly enough.

I think I need to raid the penny jars of all the children in london :whistling:

  5. 2002 SE AUTO.

I have an intermittant fault where I get a clicking sound sometimes when i open the drivers side doors (back and front). The car will be going in to get the 60k service done, I have heard this could be a central locking sensor? But I can't find the thread/post please help as I don't want them to charge me any more than needs to be.

DR Bones regarding our phone call a couple days ago, I have noticed that my steering wheel is slightly off centre :duh: :duh: , if i hold the wheel straight the car will drift to the left, plus a slight knocking noise of bumps sounds slightly metallic, never noticed before, (stereo on half way all the time :whistling: ) can you still indicate whether the wishbone does not needs replacing ? car in tomorrow need urgent answers.

worked late hence no time to send this earlier :tsktsk:

  6. Hi guys, I have been doing someresearch into a device which would allow me to connect either a Ipod or a Mini disc, this unit sounds prefect, but I have some questions:

    a) Not sure how you get the top off the dash?

    B) will it only connect to an Ipod?

    c) any way of lengthening the leads to install unit in glove box?

    d) does it generate heat?

e)Will it effect warranty (think mine has run out, but not sure, I'm at work will check later)

    f) my head unit is a 13906 any problems with operation of this unit?

Cheers guys you all are very helpful

    Mark B

    a) Have you got satnav? If so, lift up the little flap and unscrew, then pull forwards. If not, it should either just pull forwards, or there are screws under the felt depending on age of car, but not sure about this one.

    B) The iPod version is specifically for the iPod, the aux version is just a generic audio cable for any player.......but won't be able to control it with the headunit.

    c) Not sure about lengthening the leads, but the box fits quite neatly next to the stereo, and then the cables are long enough to go from there to the glovebox.

    d) Don't think so, I've had mine in there for a few months and haven't had any problems.

    e) You won't have any warranty problems, not actually cutting into anything, it simply plugs straight into the spare socket on the back of your stereo so you can always just unplug it.

    f) I can't remember for sure, but I think mine is a 13906 and it works fine. There's only one kind of stereo so far that has had problems, can't remember which one but if you search you should be able to find it.

Cheers mate will try to remove it later and order the unit once I have looked at the back of the unit, the car is a IS200 SE auto with no sat nav.

When I connect the unit do I have to disconnect the Battery first and if so is it just reconnecting the connectors at the terminal or do I have to follow a sequence, I use the car everyday so it needs to start first time.

  7. Hi Rob,

the adapter (Grom ipod interface) will definitly work with your Samsung player if you order this this extra RCA cable beside of the the default one which is included.

Using the Samsung controls is not possible, due to the reason that the RCA cable is just an audio connection and no data interface like the iPod docking cable. Sorry!

Fitting is absolute easy and can be done by EVERYONE in less than one hour.

Handos brilliant walkthrough with pics you can find under the following link

How To Install The Gromaudio Ipod Adaptor In 1st Gen Is, (also headunit removal)

If you have finally fitted the thing and start the get this new listening experience, I can guaranty you that you will throw these FM transmitters away - as far as you can

    Cheers

  8. 9. I have a IS200 SE Auto which is on a 52 plate and it's in for a service + MOT I have been quoted £319 for the serrvice, but the water pump needs replacing  £390 is this a good price? seems very steep to me, has anyone had a better quote? for similar work?

  10. My car (IS200 SE Auto) needs a 40k service + MOT. Anyone delt with Woodford for a 40k service, if so how much? do they change the plugs if so how much are the plugs, will it make finnacial sense to buy the plugs from eBay seller ?

The reason Why I ask is my car has got a major brake squeal at any speed once I've driven for about 6mins or so, I've taken to woodford several times, they've replaced the rear discs under warranty and still the brakes groan like a old bus!

I evently bought some front discs and pads from a guy on eBay (Can't remember the brand, they were recommended on this forum, ) anyway and got them fitted when I saw the Doc (STS) this was great at first (4 months) but are now squeaking like a big mechanical PIG everytime I touch the brakes(i have the stereo more than half way on every journey!!) ! So do I stress the credit card again and buy new Lexus approved jobs (fat dough for those I'm sure) or see Prolex for upgraded ? please help!!!!

  11. Do not walk on it elavate your leg place it up on some pilows, use an ice pack for the swelling, make sure it is in a cotton cloth or you'll get an ice burn ( not very nice :duh: ) don't use deep heat as ice reduces the swelling and deep heat is not as effect for the first two to three days. (this is the method we use during my chinese boxing class, where we often get a knock or two as it is full contact)

  12. I need some help on this one, I have heard of the error 3 message coming up on the CD player, but mine has an error 1 message.

my car is a IS200 S.E. Auto on a 52 plate top loading CD deck, warranty has run out :tsktsk: . The issue is driving me mad, I'm I looking at getting it repaired and if so how much? and how long will it take? can I get a brand new one from Lexus, if so how much? or should I get a completely new head unit? is fitting easy or is the amp and speakers going to give me probs.

PS anyone recommend an installer based in either Walthamstow or in south london please Pm me

    Hi

I would go back to Lexus as they were replacing the head units even after the warranty had expired< good will hey, I aint had much though so far!!!

You could replace easily as long as you can buy a fascia to fill the missing space around the unit. Ive fitted new head uints, amps etc to most of my cars and none have caused an issue yet.

What brand of head unit do you recommend?

  13. First of all thanks guys for the info, but nothing seems to clear the problem, would you recommend trying for the warranty route or if I decide to get the cable from eBay? what head unit would you recommend and would I be better off with lexus fitting the unit or is it something I could tackle?
