  1. had mine converted at the start of the summer,

only down side I have noticed is that the largest tank that can be fitted in the spare wheel well without too much disruption only gives you about 225-250 miles b4 a refill is needed. so if you drive any distance make sure you now where to fill up.

£2k for a conversion sounds about right.

No difference to power or performance and MPG has only dropped from 20.2 to 18.5.

Thanks all for your help on this.

Based on all your feedback I have taken the plunge and booked it in for the end of the month.

Jaffa..... Could you please tell me what capacity tank was actually fitted? A make and model ref would be appreciated. Also could you tell me where the filler cap is please (side panel or side of the bumper).

    Thanks.

rear bumper, will take some pics over the weekend and get the specs for you

  3. Is there a definate, easy solution to the whole ipod / RX300 saga?

I am picking up my RX300 this friday, and have just removed by Alpine head unit (c/w ipod control system) from my old car.  I realise this will be of now use, but I still want to utilise my ipod in my car.

Does the Stereo in the SE-L play MP3 files?

having tasked all the I.T. "geeks" that we employ to go forth and find, not a lot of joy or happiness was returned.

The only thing close was the "vaistech" option, but even then the guys would offer no guarantee that it

would work in the Uk and were not interested in a work or return option, even thouh we as a company offered to act as distributors if successful.

Temporary solution has been to run it through my dvd system, although I have seen a custom job done by putting a DIN sized stereo in where the heated seat buttons are (bit iffy)

  4. I have recently purchased a 2002 RX300 and am now a Lexus convert.

However my previous vehicle was a dual fuel Estate and so whilst the MPG is similiar the costs are substantially different ( the estate had dual fuel fitted when I purchased it)

I have seen conflicting comments regarding the fitting of LPG conversions to the RX300, has anyone actually done it?

Other 4x4 owners have achieved substantial savings and so I am keen to make the conversion but am concerned to "disturb" the cars significant engine management system etc!!!

I got my 2001 Rx in June with the sole intention of converting it to LPG.

It runs like a dream, with no loss of performance and when it comes to filling up, I just use the small change out of the ashtray to pay.

The only thing to watch out for is the difference in tank size that can be fitted, a UK car will take a smaller gas tank than an import and take longer to convert.

My dealer has been great in resetting the engine management system, whilst everthing has been getting tweaked to offer the best performance.

doing 22.1 MPg @ a cost of £1.35 thats gives a rough cost comparrission of 66 mpg.I just love driving a 3.0 litre V6 and worry about the cost

    :D

  5. Stu,

As a new lexus owner the mates rates rule may apply,

  6. If the screws are out then it is probably held in by spring clips.

Usually it is just applying pressure against the clips  but you need to see them to know which way to press.

looks like just 1 plastic plug, don't want to force it too much and break it, going into the garage in 2 weeks for a lpg conversion, think I will wait till it comes back b4 I fiddle to much........but then again!!!!
