  1. I got two keys when I bought my 400 at the end of June. One has a cracked case, so I feel Ishould replace it to have a spare. Any one know what they cost?
  2. Hi, I have just bought an LS 400 first registered May 1998, 103k on the clock, paid £7400. It seems OK, paint work fine, but I find the throttle a bit peculiar. When I press the throttle there is a lag before anything happens, is this usual? I am thinking of having the stone chips painted out by respray then having an 'Ultra Diamond Brite' coating put on. Does anyone know anything about this?
  3. I posted previously as I was thinking of buying either a IS200 or LS400. Have decided on a 400. I have seen two, one at Bedford through a part time dealer, and the other locally to me, a private sale. The first at Bedford is a 98R with 102k on the clock, very clean, wheels OK, not scuffed or corroded with a full LSH. The dealer wants £7650, which according to Parkers is about right. The other is the colour I want, dark blue with cream interior, is a 99T with 63k on the clock, but the owner tells me it does not have a full LSH, having been done at a local garage instead. It is in quite good condition, kust a few marks, and a tiny bit of corrosion on the wheels. I would have the wheels refurbished - how much is that likely to cost by the way and where are the best places to have it done. This private guy wants £11,000 for the car, which is at the top end according to Parkers (and that with 50k). What do you think about these prices? I plan to buy within the next few days.
  4. Thank you for all the responses. I am having a test drive next Monday (Lexus Guildford) in both so will see which I prefer. They will also give me some idea of servicing costs (which I will treat with due respect). I incline towards the LS400 mainly because I would like a bit of luxury in my old age. The petrol consumption is not such a problem if I don't have to use the car for work (all stop start) which I do at present. I may be changing jobs shortly (fingers crossed) and if so will not need to use the car. I would keep the car for some years, so hopefully the depreciation will not be such a problem.
  5. I am interested in buying either a 200 or 400, but am concerned over the cost of running a 400. I do around 12 to 15k per year, mostly reasonable distances. I have been driving a Toyota Avensis 2.0 CDX for 7 years now and have been impressed with the reliability, 32mpg and servicing costs. I am looking at a 400 at Lexus Guildford, £14,995 which has 65k on the clock. Does this represent value for money? Any other advice you can give a Lexus novice?
