  1. I'm in! yayyyyy!!! I finally bought the 2001 Altezza. This car is a likely candidate for a 3sgte transplant tho. Got one sitting down in my garage in need of some TLC and permanent employment. I think the 3sgte and the Tezza will make great friends Before I get to that stage tho, lets see what I should interfere ... err ... modify first!! iceman out ... :)
  2. seems we have a kick-n-bite down-2-the-wire fight between black and plat-ice :D hmmmmmmmm ...
  3. Actually, The VERY FIRST Altezza I saw in Barbados was tweety bird yellow Soon afterwards there was an influx of those beigish colored ones (not sure of the official name for the color). :zee:
  4. oh goody! so many colors to choose from! keep em coming!!!
  5. Ok then, here's the ratings 1. black 2. granite sky 3. silver any more colors? :zee:
  6. Guys, I'm almost there. Will most likely be a new owner in another day or two! weeeeeeee! It's colored beige/off-white just like 90% of the other Altezzas here in Barbados. For this reason alone I must stand out (My Celica was the only teal colored one on the road). My first idea was black like Mr. Morse's ride (love his ride!!!). Was also thinkin silver like the one displayed on C-One's site. I'm open to other suggestions however. What color do you suggest? :zee:
  7. http://member.newsguy.com/~gtfour/twincoil.htm Not my car, but this guy lives about 10 mins drive from me (5 minutes in my former GT4). He uses the same ECU that I used, the Autronic SMC, so the instructions are based on that. You'd have to adapt to suit your ECU. Hope this helps
  8. exactly what i was thinkin ;-) it has been done on a quite a few GT-Fours down here
  9. Si si señor! Of course I want to know :D Thanks ...
  10. http://www.c-one.co.jp/C-ONEPARTS/altezza.html http://www.c-one.co.jp/zoom-2005/altezza-ver2.jpg http://www.c-one.co.jp/zoom-2005/altezza-r.jpg Oh how I really love this kit, but it's proving to be a nightmare to contact these ppl as I never learnt to speak Japanese! :shruriken: Anyone in the house got a C-One hookup Anyone in here can help me or at least point me in the right direction Thanks
  11. Ok then, Assuming I purchase the car, I'll contact u should I decide to go the 1GFE route. ;-) I'm having a peep inside your store now
  12. Wait wait wait! :-o The 1GFE can be pushed to those limits?? Well you just opened another avenue for me! wohoooooo!! [ok calm down!] So? what shall it be? 1. Replace the 1GFE with the muscle-bound 3SGTE? or 2. Give the 1GFE some of Popeye's spinach and make it as potent as the 3S? Hmmmm ... decisions decisions :-) Where'd you get the forged internals from tho? I was shying away from the 1G because I could find very little info/parts on it. Thanks for the "alternative route" :zee:
  13. Sacrilege!!! Toyota is sharing a box with Honda?!?!?!? :arrrggg-matey: :D Just kidding!!!!! So basically as I feared, I'm limited to 300HP if I use the 3SGTE? :-( I wanted to see 400HP like I did in my GT4 (before I detuned it to 350). Yes I'm ranting like a child! :D :D So, my next question is: If I aspire to break the 300HP mark, then I need to look at the 1JZ/2JZ engine? Thanks.
  14. List, 1. How far (HP/torque figures) can I push the stock AS200 6-spd gearbox before she dies? 2. Are there any options out there for strengthening it? Thanks
  15. Guys and gyals (if any), Sorry to resurrect the dead, being a new member I am now seeing this post. I previously owned a very modded Celica GT4 so I feel compelled to add my thoughts to this thread. Hope no one minds! I personally plan to take the 3SGTE route as well. I have been pondering my choices (the car I am about to purchase has the 1GFE) but after reading this thread I think that 3SGTE is definitely the way to go (at least for me). My major concern is the strength of that 6-spd tranny, because I'm thinking a 400HP goal with the 3SGTE. Coming from a Celica background I learnt of maaaaaaaaaaany aftermarket options for the 3SGTE. I know of OEM/aftermarket dealers here in the Caribbean, in the US, the UK, and even as far as Australia. I'm still a member of the Yahoo GT4 group so I can gather any info I need on the 3SGTE from there. I don't have as much info/contacts for the BEAMS 3SGE. Righty, all that blah blah is simply to say, if the 3SGTE can be mounted (including wiring, sump & oil pickup mods) then the tuning possibilities are endless. :arrrggg-matey: Mat, I'm backing you with your 3SGTE project, keep us all posted, and good luck! :luck:
  16. 1. What exactly is this conversion? 2. Does the 3SGE mate to the AS200 gearbox? More to the point, does the AS200 carry the same gearbox as the RS200? As stated in an earlier post, I am worried about the tolerance (to abuse) of the AS200 gearbox. - and - 3. Even better yet, who is the person that did this? I wish to contact him/her directly or view their posts/articles/website to get all the details I need. Thanks a lot for the input. :D
  17. Thanks for the reply, I wonder if I will be satisfied with 300bhp, seeing that my previous Celica GT-Four did just under 400bhp (before I detuned it to 350). As for the sump issue I wonder if it can be solved with modification or even by swapping in the sump from the 3SGE. Hmmmm ... :zee: Maybe I need to consider the mother of all swaps, if I can find an orphaned 2jz-gte (with gearbox) :arrrggg-matey: Thanks again,
  18. Hi guys, I am seriously considering purchasing an Altezza but only on close inspection did I realize the car is an AS200 instead of an RS200. :tsktsk: I do however, have a 3SGTE in my possession. I would still buy the Tez if the 3SGTE swap is without too much hassle, so here's what I need to know: 1. Will it mate to the 6-spd manual transmission of the AS200? 2. How much HP can the AS200 manual tranny handle before it breaks? It makes no sense inserting an engine that will kill the tranny! :o 3. What pitfalls/difficulties will I experience during the swap? (e.g engine mounts) 4. What else will I have to upgrade? (suspension, fuel components, etc as the 3sgte will perhaps be a heavier and thirstier engine). Thanks a bunch, Rommel the iCeMAn Barbados, Caribbean. 1993 350HP Celica GT-FOUR (about to be sold) potential AS200 owner :winky:
