I found the answer - the main beam bulbs are integral with their plastic holder - you cannot simply buy a replacement bulb even if Halfords say you can!! They are £11.53 from Lexus (11/2/06) and I believe they are usually held in stock. The dual Main beam/full beam bulbs CAN be replaced by the way

I just bought Halfords Super Brilliance bulbs (on offer at 2 for the price of 1) so I could replace all headlamp bulbs. After following the replacement 'instructions' in the handbook, and removing the 'bulb' I expected to be able to remove the bulb from its holder. I can't! ...... and I can't see how the replacement bulb (H1 '448SB') actually would fit anyway as it seems a different shape. Is there a trick to removing the bulb from the holder, or is the bulb holder integral with the bulb itself and hence a Lexus-only spare rather than a genuine accessory available from Halfords for example? Hope someone has done this and can help! Thanks
