  1. Now this is weird.

Despite not syncing the Iphone since updating to os4.0, it is now recognised by the Lexus!

Strangely iBooks is now also working - previously it got stuck when downloading books - perhaps the issue is linked to that?

Anyway no idea really what's caused this to work now, as the only thing that I've done is install a few updates and downloaded a few extra apps.

At least it means the wife will update her Iphone now mine is working.

    regards,

    David

  2. Being a saddo I joined the queue yesterday mornng and was lucky enough to get me hands on the i phone 4. Connected it via the storage unit as with the previous i phone and it worked perfectly. It might be a daft question but are you sure when you updated the software you re synced and have your music on the phone?

Yup the music is definately on the phone. Looks like it is a problem for anyone upgrading their 3GS.

It also been reported on other forums such as this one: au.lexusownersclub.com

In answer to JonnyB, the USB input allows you select more than just playlists, you can also select by artist, album, song, podcast etc so you get access to all your music not just what's in your playlists.

    regards,

    David

  3. Hi,

Sorry can't answer your question, but am interested to know are you talking about via the Lexus Ipod integration kit? I was going to update my iphone tonight but I may wait now.

    cheers

    Jon

    Hi Jon,

This is when I connect using the usb port in the central storage box. Prior to the OS upgrade I could select my music / podcasts from the 7" touch screen by selecting audio / usb.

    regards,

    David

  4. Trying to connect Nokia 6230 to MM bluetooth (okay, okay, stop laughing I know its ancient).

Connects every time and works to an extent but I'm going to upgrade to somethging sexier/better.

I'd prefer to stay with Nokia if I can - Can anyone recommend a Nokia that

    1) Allows the transfer of all of your contacts in one go

    2) Shows both battery and signal on the MM screen

    1) No

    2  ) No :tomato:

Well, the Nokia N70 can dump it's entire phonebook in one hit, but you won't find a Nokia that shows signal or Battery strength and I wouldn't recommend the N70 either!

Pairing this phone was "difficult" but possible.

    regards,

    David

  5. Bottom line appears to be:

Nokia - Bluetooth connections is good, pairing a doddle - but no information on signal/battery

Sony Eric - Ditto as above but also can transfer phone book on mass

    No quite :)

The Nokia N70 has problems with the inital pairing but is fine once done (see http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=32652 for more details).

However, you can send the entire phonebook in one hit.

Signal and Battery info is not displayed.

    regards,

    David

  6. Scott, the colours we went for are the two slates: Brechin Slate and Cadoxton Slate.

I still can't decide which I prefer. The Cadoxton because its a nice black but a pain in the :tsktsk: to clean and Brechin because it makes the car look light and sporty! Both have the Pembroke black leather interior. And yes I did get a very good discount!

The tyres question is interesting, it's too early to say just yet and I need to drive on the same bit of road. To be honest my feeling at the moment is that I don't think there is that much difference. I'll come back with an answer after a more robust test though.

I have to say that on this mornings commute there was a wonderful section on the M18 that has recently been resurfaced which is almost slient (on the Bridgestones) and I think the government should immediately start of programme of resurfacing everywhere using this material :hehe: - afterall that fuel tax needs to be spent on something!

...and of course I'm still having those mild panic attacks... "Is it really really locked or is it just pretending? How do I check without opening the damn thing?" kind of moments.

    regards,

    David

  7. Well the wife and I picked up our 220d SEs with MM on Saturday and we are rather pleased - both with Lexus Leeds and the cars!

Interestingly one came with Bridgestone tyres and the other with Dunlop, neither had mudflaps.

After a mild panic attack when we thought our mobile phones wouldn't complete the Bluetooth regististration (Nokia N70s), we finally got them to work. If anyone else has this phone, go through the registration process, the phone will complete but the car will continue to wait, cancel the process on the menu, and then force the phone to connect to the car and go back into the register process, it will then realise that the connection is done! How did I find out? By swearing a lot and shear bloody mindlessness! Anyway, about three hours later everything was pretty much setup as required - without too much reading of the manuals - thank goodness!

Having taken both cars out for a bit of a spin and I'm getting just over 42mpg, but not that many miles on either clock yet! No rattles in mine (yet), but the wife had an initial rattle from the passenger air vent (the one near the window) but this seems to have stopped now.

Busy creating MP3 CDs (shame you can't do this onto a DVD) and ordering the AutoPower 3000 Car Charger with additional itips from expansys for the central storage box.

    regards,

    David

  8. Did you get a good price because you were buying two? :winky:

To avoid all this hassle, I use confused.com and let it do the work. Cheapest quote was £310 (Swiftcover) partner is on the policy and business mileage is included. To be fair I have full no claims, the car is garaged and I live in the middle of nowhere (nearest neighbour is over a mile away)!

I got a great price.... the discount was significantly more than what I've seen people mention on the forums and drivethedeal! Given the discount, I didn't dare ask for more because I was buying two - I felt guilty enough... well, thinking about it, not that quilty :hehe:

I tried confused.com but they didn't recognise the reg plates and when I tried to select by manufacturer, they didn't seem to know about any Lexus 2006 models :(

I'm currently with Toyota Insurance (which I presume is the same as Lexus Insurance) which is up for renewal at the end of May, so I might just ask them to cover me until then while I try out some of the suggestions here. At least by then everyone should acknowledge the reg plates and should make it a little bit easier.

    cheers,

    David

  9. It's less than 2 weeks until I pick up 2 x 220d SEs (one for me and one for the wife!) and so the time has come to get the car insurance sorted out - but what a hassle!

Many of the online car insurers such as Elephant and InsureandGo don't seem to know about the car :tsktsk: , which would be okay if they told you up front, but instead they let you type in all your details first, wasting a good 10-15 minutes as you select your occupation, what business your in, what you'll be using the car for, how long you've had a license, the same again for the second driver.... you get the idea.

So I'm hoping that some of you have managed to get insurance for a 220d :winky: - hopefully for a good price - and you are willing to recommend.

Fairly simple requirement: No mods on the cars, for commuting purposes, wife needs it for business mileage. 1 x MW10 conviction (joined the motorway a bit too soon - went over a white line in 2005) and 1 claim on insurance back in 2002 due to a car landing in the side of ours ie. not our fault, no claims unaffected and fully recovered.

    Any ideas?

    cheers,

    David
