  1. What does the intake do?

its got a smooth steel pipe instead of the OEM plastic one to help increase and smooth out airflow, is got a K&N like drop in filter, and it comes with a new lower airbox with two openings instead of one to further let more air through.

they claim around 6HP increase, but the sound it makes is just amazing!

try a search for f-sport IS250 on youtube - should give you an idea.

  2. Been around here for some time, but never gotten around to introduce myself. And no better way todo that than to post some fresh pics eh?

oh yeah, Im 29 and from the middle of Norway!

    Lars.

  3. du kunne jo bare spurt meg over MSN....ahahah

    but anyways, for norway:

Sport: sits about 0.8 cm lower in the front, and is supposed to be a little stiffer. ( I cant feel the difference - my dad has a sport, and I a Luxury)

Comes with the 18' wheels, instead of the 17' on the luxury

    Has alum. pedals as standard.

    Plastic/alum look interior pieces.

    Luxury: wooden interior pieces.

    +Power rear window sun shade.

+illumnated scuff plates / door sills.

    the rest is the same.

I would never get the non-navi one and try install the OEM unit later

I believe the whole dash config is different, and would require huge modification..

    Lars.

  4. Theres a clip on youtube that shows the procedure for hacking the navi on the US IS350.

it goes like,PRESS: MENU - VOLUME - UPPER LEFT - LOWER LEFT CORNER X 4.

this enables the possibillity to use the navi and phone commands while moving.

anyone know if theres another similar "cheat code" for the Euro Spec IS250?`

dont feel like opening the consol and tamper with wires and shisel.

    thanks, Lars.

  5. thats a nice grill, where did you get it from, I don't think ive seen one of those before.

    Craig

its the z-edition altezza grille, with the "L" from a 02'+ IS grill. minor modification needed to fit emblem.

this is what i looks like from toyota - with the standard "A" emblem:

  6. hey fellas, i've decided to wait with the 2nd gen IS a couple more years, and rather do the 200-300 upgrade this spring.

    Ive got a couple of Q's lined up;

performance: I've seen alot of different performace specs around - I know the MT is faster, but I've also seen differences among the AT tested.

Is there a difference between the US spec 300 and the EURO spec 300 performace vise?

I've also heard that the 300's handling isnt as great as the 200's - due to the heavier engine resulting in a bad understeer. Any truth to this?

Legal issues - I know the US spec 300's has a different front and rear lighting set-up, as with the rear fogs beeing brakelights, the yellow front fogs.

Is this going to be a problem when importing? I guess there might be different rules and regulations in different countries, but please share your predictions!

    Thanks alot fellas.

    L.

  7. ok thanks, im not sure how many miles the SC has been in use, but anyways 60,000km is nothing for these cars...it should be like 37500 US miles - I dont know if UK miles are the same?

my 99 has just passed 125,000km, and I it just sounds like a really good deal and I need some more power of course....:)

  8. yes it will fit, and yes its reasonable if its in good nick.

btw, i hope your not using your foglights when its not foggy! can't stand it when ppl do that...

why not use foglights when not foggy - the parklight / foglights on is the coolest combo for sure, it makes the car look more agressive if u ask me.

  9. Have any "IS200 Sport" owners driven any "IS200 Sport Luxury" before ? If so, do you feel any difference ?

Happened to drive an "IS200 Sport Luxury" from a friend yesterday. It was bloody quiet and comfortable compare to mine. Very low engine noise, smooth and the seat is very soft indeed. My "IS200 Sport" is about seven months newer but the seat and the back support is very hard like a rock that is killing my bottom and back after hour of driving. The engine noise is a lot loader even revs lightly. And most importantly is the "woffle" noise coming from the rear that really makes me headache and drives me nuts. With or without the windows open you can hear the noise coming from the back or coming through rear windows. The noise is really disturbing when driving at night, the noise is best observed when the car is going between 25 - 38mph (40 - 60km/h) with little or no acceleration apply. Does it also happen to your IS200 Sport or just mine that give this awful feeling

regarding the engine "noise" - were both cars equiped with the same tranny? (manual or auto?)

My manual is alot "louder" than my dads auto for some reason.....anyone else experienced this? what is the reason for this?

  10. I have a T reg (99) IS 200 with 74k on the clock and it judders when i pull away in first gear and can somethimes be difficult to get into gear.

    Is this a common problem?

Does this mean i need to repalce my clutch?

If so does anyone know any good garages in North London / Hertfordshire?

    Thanks

Hi it seems that most IS200's do it,especially on low revs, give it some more revs for a smoother blast-off B)

I've found this "juddering" to be quite annoying when in stop-and-go traffic downtown.

An easy remedy is to activate the SNOW function which smooths the throttle real nice.
