  1. I have had the same problem with my 2 year old RX - its been back to the dealership a number of times, they always say it is fixed by it never is!

Anyway i have managed to fix it myself - i have wedged some thin card down the side of the dash and its done the trick - i think the noise was the dash rubbing against the side of the car.

    Hope this helps

  2. I had an IS300 with the same problem - it was just embarrasing having people in the car and having to explain the jerking.

I complained for around a year to my dealer and custome care - no luck! I then wrote to the head of lexus GB and within a few days they offered a complete refund if i bought a new car. Went for a RX300SEL and it has been fine (fingers crossed) - i get the odd ***** but can never decide if it is my fault or the car.

Hope you get sorted - i now have an issue with rust on the front of my car.

I don't think Lexus customer care is as good as it should be in cases.

  3. Hi,

I have a RX300 that is less than two years old and has done less than 20,000 miles. I have also had an IS200 and IS300 all of which have been prone to more than their fair share of stone chips.

My problem with the RX is that the ones under the grill have all started to rust (at least 6 or 7 seperate spots) - my lexus dealer and the customer care department don't want to know. Basically they say it is not covered by the warranty.

Has anyone else had this problem and how did you get it sorted? Am i being unreasonable expecting a £38,000 car not to rust? I have looked at other car a similar age and not seen anything as bad.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  4. Hi

Not sure if this helps or not but i had exactly the same problem with my IS300 - it was fine for 3000 miles and then the gearbox suddenly started playing up - it would change into second with a big thump that jerked the whole car.

The Battery was disconnected but after 3000 miles it came back again - it eventually got so annoying that i took it up with lexus who denied there was a problem at first.

Eventually after having the car a year they admitted it was a problem and offered me a deal - I got my money back on my IS300 and bought an RX300SEL

Thankfully i have not had the problem with the RX.

  5. Hi

I have had my rx300sel for around 6 months and i too have a creaking noice while the car is warming up - it seems to be coming from the passenger side of the dashboard, either the air vent or from the air bag compartment.

More annoyingly i have a rattle from somewhere within the roof lining - maybe the sunroof, seems to be above the front passenger. I have to drive with the cover pulled across otherwise is drives me up the wall.

I spoke to my dealer about it but after very poor service from them over the years i don't have any faith in them fixing it. I have also lost faith with my next nearest dealer over problems with my previous car, an IS300.

Anything you find out about your rattle i woud find interesting.

I wish i could find a dealer that i had faith in, i am on my third lexus and even though i love my current car I sometimes think i might try a different brand next time simply because of my local dealers attitude.

  6. Has anyone experienced a rattling noise coming from the sunroof on the new RX? I have to drive with the sun blind shut as it is that annoying - even then it is still a pain.

My RX300SEL does it all the time - i have been to my dealer but they said it was a day and a half job and after problems with them in the past i don't trust them to do it - i think they would probably make it worse.

  7. Teesside are amazing - they never seem to get any better. I have had poor service from them for the past few years.

I have complained to lexus HQ about them but nothing seems to improve - how can they continue treating people so bad.

I have now vowed never to give them any more business even though they are only 10minutes drive away and my next nearest dealer is over 1 hour away.

  8. Just wondered what your bad experience at teesside was? Bought my first ever new car there and the handover was disappointing to say the least - basically their it is at the end of the car park, goodbye.

Had loads of problems with the car (IS300) that teesside never sorted - it is my local dealer but i begrudge giving them the money for servicing and definitely won't be getting my next car there.

  9. Hi

People may of seem my posts about the various problems I have had with my car and the lack of service from dealers. I have certainly seen posts from other members regarding things such as calipers, alloy wheels, etc.

After just speaking to Lexus Customer Relations again, they have failed to solve any of my problems, I am therefore writing to the Lexus GB MD and BBC's watchdog.

The more people who contact watchdog the better, it may get the problems noticed - you can contact them by visiting

  10. Hi

Just wanted to add my view on customer service.

I am currently on my second lexus, an IS300, and due to the long list of problems and the very poor service from dealers I will not be buying another.

One good point is that I did have my calipers replaced under warranty which I was pleased about.

At my 10000 mile service however I pointed out to the dealer that my alloys were corroding - they said they would swap them for new ones under warranty - when I got the car back the wheels are actually reconditioned ones. I am very very angry - it is my first brand new car and I don't expect it to have second hand wheels on it just because Lexus cannot produce wheels that do not corrode.

My main problem however is the gearbox - the car jerks and thumbs into second gear. I have been trying to get the problem sorted for months, it is currently in the hands of the customer care department but I am not confident they will be able to resolve the problem.

I am so dissapointed that I am off to the local Saab garage this afternoon to look at the new 9-3 turbo - it looks very good on the website and is fast than an IS300

  11. Hi

I mentioned to my dealer at my 1 year/10,000 mile service that the wheels on my IS300 where starting to get pitted and looked a bit tatty.

He said no problem they would switch them for new ones under warranty.

I have had them switched only to find out that the "NEW" ones are actually reconditioned wheels with a complete different finish to the original.

Has this happened to anyone else - I personally am not very happy since I paid £26700 for a new car I expect new wheels!!

  12. Hi

I have an IS300 that goes into 2nd gear with an almighty thump that jerks the whole car - it does not happen everytime but perhaps 50% of the time. It makes it uncomfortable to drive and passengers can even feel it.

My dealer is reprogramming my engine management system this weeked with new settings that are supposed to eliminate what Lexus call "transmission shock"

Has any one else suffered this problem?

    Jon

  13. The dealer said they are going to check the wheel alignment when I take it back in next week - I am just a bit annoyed that this should of happened so soon on a brand new car. He said they have had a lot of cars with this problem, even a local tyre garage I rang for prices mentined they had had IS200/300 with the same issue.

While I am on how much a people paying for tyres? My dealer quotes £150 per tyres where as my local garage quoted £85!

    Jon

  14. I have just had my 10,000 mile service on my IS300 and both front tyres need replacing.

They have worn on the inside, the outside and middle are fine.

Has anyone else had this problem - it seems the setup of the car is going to cost me money for new tyres!

    Jon

  15. Do you have an IS200 or IS300?

My IS300 was playing up for while with the symptons you describe. My local dealer looked it up on the Lexus system and it suggested my engine management system needed to be reprogrammed.

Had this done last week and so far it seems fine.
