  1. Hi,

Had my IS220d Sport for 3 years so time for a change, so just bought a BMW 335d M Sport. Lovely car, pick up on Saturday.

Anyway, does anyone know any good forums/owners clubs? I'd like one similar to this one, friendly and informative.

    Thanks,

  2. I've had an issue recently when I start the car, the heater does not retain its previous settings.

It flashes orange for a about 30 seconds on windscreen/front button, then stops with no heating settings and a default temp of 22 degrees. I then have to reset back to auto with 21 degrees. When I start then engine next time same again? All my other stereo etc settings are retained.

Not spoken to lexus yet, not sure if its a fault?

PS I don't have multimedia unit.

    Any ideas?

  3. I mentioned this in the "New Model IS 220d" thread only a couple of days ago. Naturally I was told I was "misguided" and talking "absolute rubbish". I'm sure you will, too. SOP on this forum.

You have to adjust to the driving style of a diesel or petrol. Yes if you are travelling at say 40 mph and floor the petrol auto it doesn't seem to do much. I had a C270 CDI before that and did notice it when I booted the petrol. So you have to use the gears and rev higher. But the sound - ooh it's like comparing champagne to cheap lambrusco when you rev the petrol. A beautiful creamy v6 growl as opposed to a weedy unrefined coarse sound. That's what I'm talking.

The petrol is quicker PERIOD. Get over it. Torque is nonsense.

    Listen to yourself

  4. As an IS220d Sport owner who has driven both IS's many times, I'd prefer an IS220d Sport auto (if they did one) over an IS250 Sport Auto.

Whenever I've driven the IS250 for services/recalls etc. The engine feels really gutless in normal driving conditions, and lets be fair, nobody drives normally at 4500+ rpm.

The overtaking ability is excellent. Theres a stretch on my way home from work, uphill goes into 2 lanes for about 1/2 a mile. 4th gear from about 45mph, it goes like a train!

The IS220d feels faster in normal driving conditions. IMHO

  5. I'm a bit worried about the durability of the T1-R's. Anybody recommend something that is hard wearing and quiet. I do alot of motorway miles, so grip isn't the be all, more important is quietness and durability?

    Thanks,

Mine have done over 20,000 miles so far and still have a reasonable amount of tread left, and there's more on the fronts than the rears. What's your expectation? If I did all motorway miles I'd expect to have even more tread left as I do tend to explore the grip limits on some of the quieter A & B roads we have around here :whistling:

Looking for around 30000 miles. This is what the Dunlops gave me. But something a bit quieter.

    Thanks,

  6. Hi,

I'm just about to get some quotes for new tyres. 18" Lexus rims F 225/40/18 R 255/40/18.

Its between Toyo T1-R which are available in the sizes above.

Or the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric which is available in 225/40/18 but NOT in 255/40/18, although they do 255/45/18.

My questions are, which tyre would be better in your opinion?

Secondly, Would 255/45/18 be OK for the rears? If not which sizes are closest to 255/40/18?

    Thanks guys,

  7. Hi,

FYI This is now a known issue, Lexus tech are aware and there is a bulletin about the fix. Was previously an issue on the GS. Happens in hot weather or when direct sunlight on rear screen.

Its to do with some clips that are left in when the rear screen is fitted. If you remove these clips it fixes the issue, no need for screen replacement or parcel shelf etc. Very easy fix apparentely, but it works.

    Hope this helps,

  8. Personally i think the T1-R's were ok but abit over hyped... I fitted them purely because of the great reviews they got on this site... but i found them to wear quickly and when pushed they broke away inconsistently...

anyway replaced them with Goodyear F1's (GS-DE) and there's no going back to the Toyo's for me... more grip wet and dry and when pushed you'd know exactly when they were breaking free and how they'd come back in nice and without drama....

also when saying goodbye to a tyre i usually have a bit of fun and found the Toyo rubber came away in big strips whereas the Goodyear stayed together and just wore down to the wire... different class alltogether as far as I'm concerned..... just my few cents :)

Whats the road noise on the Goodyear F1 GS-DE compared to the Toyo T1-R?

    Thanks,

  9. Hey guys as many of you know Lexus has recently changed their 18 inch oem wheels from silver to dark gunmetal starting from late 2007.

Whats your opnion on this? I was thinking of changing mine to the gunmetal ones and just want some opnions before I go ahead. I have an IS220d Sport, so my oem ones would be for sale if I was to get the new gun metal ones. Wheels only would be for sale. Thanks.

If you're willing to sell one of the front wheels I'd be interested. My 18" front has some curb damage. Only minor but it bugs me.

  10. Jesus, after reading this, I'm having serious thought whether better toys and spec (to a degree) over the Honda i-CDTi is enough to compensate from moving out of the 2.4 into a 220d.

Very worrying some of what you guys have had done to your cars.

    Hmm......

    :crybaby:

OH Dear! I have just traded my SAAB 9.5 3.0TDI in for a 1 year old (14000) 220d Sport. After reading all the comments on the forums I am beginning to think I rushed in a bit after being wowed by the toys.

I bought it on the premise that Lexus/Toyota have the highest reliability in the last few JD power surveys. Was I mistaken?

Or am I worrying un-necessarily? Are the forums just for people to complain or are there many more out there who are satisfied?

    Can anyone re-assure me?

    Ray

There are many satisfied customers don't worry. Its rare that a satisfied customer will post on forums about how satisfied they are. I'm more than happy with mine.
