  1. Well one sounds like the AC Radiator - did you have any problems with the AC in the car, or any leaks?

The 2nd one - summit to do with the sound system? Again - did you have any problems?

What really worries me is that so many diesels are having these valves and pipes replaced due to blockages...doesn't bode well for those who have originals which fail after warranty...

I know it's not a safety issue, but should there not be a recall? There is a risk that these cars could break down at any time, go into limp mode etc....????

i did complain of a musty smell when car starting up from the aircon and puddles of water below car when parked after long journeys.

i didnt have any problems with the sound system though

  2. lol..cant beleive this thread is still live.

well my experience is no different from all yours..it was a chip repair attempt at first..which cracked ..ok fair enought sh!t happens...but the constantly fed me lies about when its being done..and then phoning /or not on 1 occasion that they cant do it that day..excuses including screen they had has damaged and had to go back (ok..possible..but why a week after did they ask me to pop down to the local centre to see which they need to order??) and they are obtaining one direct from Lexus and not there usual procurement centre...the call centre not progressing my compliant and not returning promised calls..anyway...when it finally got replaced they didnt ask for the excess...which i thought was a good will gesture...only to find when i got home from holiday an invoice from them in the post!!

i sent it back and told 'em to whistle!

tbh..when i complained to my insuarance co. (tesco) about what was happening they were pretty useless as well

  3. evening all...just had my 220d back from the dealership (exeter) they kept it for almost 2 weeks!.

well the rattles have almost gone....gone are the central speaker rattle, drivers seat creak, gear knob buzz, drivers door rattle - but more prevalent is the dashboard "crack" ie the noise of plasic due to differential movement presumable to temperatue changes (usually starts 15 mins into journey), so closely monitering this. More importantly is the fuel economy...fter an ALL injector changer and ECU re-map..my car has shot up from 32/33 mpg to 41/42..which i am happy with..although i've still got high revs when climate control is on..something i nver noticed int the 250 loan car :s

  4. It is so wierd. Mine does it - goes upto 1200rpm even if the AC is off. No wonder its so naff in terms of economy when pootling around the town.

    Are they ECUing you to?

i just read in another thread that someone is guessing its an anti-stall precaution on oil burners...not sure myself

just called dealership to reiterate the tickover issue and to tell them lexus newcastle et all are now reprogramming ecu's so they have been informed.

proof will be in the pudding when i get the car back

  5. my 220d has been in for over 2 weeks to sort out the numerous rattles and bad fuel economy..hopefully having it back monday..mind you they gave me a rx350 to use while it was in..i had to swap it for a 250 yesterday...i think i was using more fuel than a small country in the rx..it was shocking.

incidently they are changing all the injectos in mine not just the 5th one....and has ayone else notice eratic revs?...on start i was getting normal tickover but 10 mins into a journey it would shoot up to about 1400rpm..also, turning climate control on and off also affected the revs by about the same amount..i'm aware the climate control takes additional load and the ecu compensates this..but mine was over compensating....the 250 loan car hardly moves when turning climate on/off

  6. my usual journey is a 25 mile commute...it starts in fairly heavy traffic.

re the fuel, most tank fuls are from sainsbury's..i have tried BP several times..the times..i did think a marked improvment...but i think i also comprimised my driving style to acheive this..ie driving VERY frugal.

i did get a 37mpg return. however next fill up at BP i reverted back to my normal driving..and mpg went down to 32mpg

  7. sometimes in traffic i rest my hand on the gear knob (is220d) i have started to get a buzzing noise come from it..when there is light presuure on it...anyone else getting this?

to be fair to my local dealer i havent given the opportunity to adress my problems yet..although i have mentioned it to them..i was gonna wait till the cars in for the first service.

However, mine is a company car..I always get new cars every three years..this is my first "premium brand" car..the rest being vectras/mazda 6's etc....this is the first one which has had all these issues...or any type of issue tbh...the mazda6 was a first off the line batch.

    to date my issues are.

buzzing off gear knob as above

    rattle in cetral speaker/dash

    the creaking seat

the cracking noise behind dash 20/30 mins into a journey.

    high idle speeds

poor fuel economy..still getting 32mpg average.and only popping up to 37mpg on motorway.

would i get another lexus..prob not..i should have gone for the 320d

trouble is having these issues rather tarnishes your view torwards the car..and ive got it for another 30 months :(

  8. i've noticed this on my 220d.

its as like the idle speed is fairly normal at start up then about 5 mins into the journey it shoots up to 1200/1300 and stays there for a while ...a good 20minutes, i was going to mention this when it goes in for its first service next month.....along with the other rattles/creaks/poor fuel economy issues ...best get a list compiled :(

  9. i will be watching this with interest.

i have 8300 miles on the odo now..whilst i admit the 6th gear is now more useable i am still disapointed with the economy.

my commute is half heavy traffic half motoway 28miles each way...i get 32mpg.

did my first real run on saturday..which will now be one of many..390 miles all motorway..still only returned 37mpg

now my is a company "mule"..my first derv....chose this thinking would get better economy. how wrong i am.

not only derv is approx 10p litre more than unleaded..i only get 9p/mile mileage rate as opposed to 12p/mile .

    signed.

ps...i spoke to my local delaership about the rattles ive got - seat /dash at 2k rpm /door / crack noise at half hour into a run somethin i hope will be sorted when its in for the first service..i almost expressed disapointment of bad economy...and this was met with suprise..and a denying of knowing this

  10. i'm still getting poor economy..i am 7k miles and was going to wait until 10k service before i contacted dealership (Lexus exeter)

Yesterday I had a little argument with a pheseant which damaged my front vallance/fog light/trim and i took car round to see if the work would exceed my insurance excess (yes it does...a long way :( )

i mentioned to the girl on reception about my rattles (dash/drivers seat and drivers door) who made notes and also about my poor economy...averaging 34mpg..she looked suprised..i then griped about the reasons choosing an oil burner...better fuel economy.etc.etc and given that I'm not (this is compared to my last car - petrol mazda 6 - 28mpg)..and that diesel is 10p a litre more...not being completly happy...i offered that there is mod that can be done to resolve this issue..she denied all knowledge..asked where i got that information from..i explained from here...she gave a wry smile..but said she would look into it.

  11. right..i filled up lat night with BP rather than sainsbury's....granted i have only done 30 miles since..but...mile tank average has shot up to 41mpg...and....sixth gear is usable at 70mph..this is on the same commute i do every day where i was acheiving 32/33mpg and struggling with 6th at 80mph.
