  1. Hi Nige, you might wanna check out the bulbs in this link http://www.scirocconet.co.uk/forum/new-bulb-trial-t6600.html. Pics on page 21 onwards. Most people on the scirocco forum swear by them, and having seen them in person I would have them, if i didn't already have factory hids. Also the bulbs are e-marked so no problems with the legality side of it. But you will have to email him and see if he has 9006 bulbs.

You also have the PIAA white intense option http://www.amazon.co.uk/PIAA-10926-9006-Intense-White/dp/B000MG630I/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1382749842&sr=8-16&keywords=piaa+white or the extreme http://www.amazon.co.uk/PIAA-19616-HB4-9006-Xtreme-115-Watt/dp/B0002MAILC which are even better. Very good, but pricey, although a lot cheaper than retrofitting Hids.

All of these options will keep you on the safe side on the law too, and pass mots!

    Regards, Sam.

  2. Hi mate, as long as the main headlights work, which i think you mean the xenons(HID), then the ballast will only be supplying power to them. The halo lights, if they are ccfl, will prob need a small inverter but by all means I would try fixing the wiring first to see if it comes on. Should only take half hour at the most and at least you will know that you need an inverter if they don't come on.

    Regards, Sam.

  3. Will ask my mechanic as he did it all for me, if he can remember (was about 2 &1/2 years ago). But when he took off the plastic cover the belt was quite worn, was worrying as i had changed the belt when i bought the car at 30k miles and this was at 85k. There was another part he tried before the belt though as the obd reader was bringing up all sorts of faults. Did the garage not get to the bottom of it?

  4. Hi mate, I had the same problem with mine. Changed plugs, coils, leads etc but was still having the problem.

Found out that the timing belt had slipped one tooth and had put the engine out of sync. Take the plastic cover off

and see if it looks a bit knackered.

  5. I had a fantastic day too was nice to put some faces. enjoyed the drive as well.

How red did that waitress' face go when spitroast was mentioned :lol:

Speaking of spitroasts, who's first in line here???

Sorry people, i know its shocking!

Lol, was an excellent day! Weather was good, food was good, and the turnout was better!

Well done jamie! roll on the next one, next month!!

  6. Just like to say welcome back to geoffers and a big THANK YOU! :D

although i never met you, some of your posts have been very helpful to me.

I would like to try this on mine, but you lost me at

'All you need are a couple of double pole relays, rated around 10A or above. You will need to find or put in a new heavy feed of around 40A as all windows close at the same time and at the point the are closed, for a second or two the current shoots up to around 7-8A per window, possibly more.'

    :o

i will wait til stav has done his and have a gander at the nw meet.

  7. Hi guys. Slight gremlin. I've put my new HID lights on the car and I've noticed that when I flash the mains, even with the lights off, the dipped beam comes on for a millisecond. Can anyone offer an explanation and cure?

    Thanks.

    Keith

    Hello mate

Mine do the same both lights come on when i flash the high beam even though they both stay on while doing it just thought thats what they do to be honest??

    Chris... :)

    same here :D

  8. As far as i know (on a se model at least), the wires should connect as below

    yellow h/u wire - blue/yellow car wire

red h/u wire - grey car wire

black h/u wire - brown car wire

check the wires in the connecting plugs line up as above.

think the fuse box is the long 1 near the Battery, but think there are 2 fuses, radio 1 and radio 2.

both are 20a. second 1 is at the drivers footwell. these are just guesses i got from a diagram, but sure some one will let you know.

on the diagram, the no2 fuse at the drivers footwell is the middle of the bottom row.

the no1 fuse is the 3rd one from the top in the engine bay, nearest the Battery.

  9. After trying a lot of stuff, including polyfilla  i found some stuff called polymorph from maplins

which is basically plastic you can melt in hot water and mould.

i spread it across the two halves of ma back panel at the distance i wanted then waited for it to harden.

i used that as a mould and put layers of fibreglass to build up the gap. once it was thick enough i stuck it in the middle of my 2 pieces and fibreglassed it some more.

i just kept on building it up till it was the right thickness and tough enough to hold everything in place.

The top most layer is p38 cos i run out of fibreglass, and i had that stuff left over.

Plus its easier to sand!

    Hope that makes sense!

  10. Can anyone recommend the best place in the Northwest to get my paintwork tidied up, washed, clayed(never heard of that treatment before), wet sanded and polished, the whole lot. It's in Astral black and now the sun is starting to shine a bit i can see just how bad the paintwork really is.

Don't really know what to do a search for on the internet, so just wondered if anyone had had anything done and could recommend somewhere.

    Thanks....

hey mate, if you find a decent place could you let us know, as mine is the same.

lots of swirls etc, and shows up so much on a black car! :tsktsk:

    cheers!

  11. hi moffet, think when i asked lexus sometime last year the price for the housing thing by itself

    was £stupid.

so i decided to do a cut n shut jobbie on mine.

not finished it yet, but i basically sanded the surround down, and cut the front 'legs'

surrounding the screen and the back panel, and am in the process of extending them.

(got loads of uni work so still not finished it, even tho i started last year!)

    image038mu8.jpg

I know it still looks a little rough, but when i've finished sanding it and painting it should look good(i hope!).

I've got a 7" lilliput touchscreen which is a bit larger than yours, but fits in snugly with the changes.

And i can use the buttons at the bottom too.

    Hope this helps!

Ps dremel drill really helps! :winky:

  12. Didn't win fook all on any of mine.

Had £50 each on eurotrek, hedgehunter, n06valverde, jack high, and royal auclair.

Plus the biggy on idle talk. But did that antepost a few weeks ago and got odds of 28/1.

Would have been good had it come in!

Lost a fair bit on saturday, but had a few winners on thursday and friday!

Oh well, roll on next year!

Ps a tip for you guys, teofilo at the guineas in may! :winky: Though after that ^^^, i might not bother! :tomato:
