Hi all, my ES 300h f-sport failed an NCT (Ireland equivalent of MOT in UK) due to an imbalance in the rear axle suspension. The problem has been identified by the dealership as a rear shock absorber and the complete unit has to be replaced at a cost of 2 grand as it is outside warranty.
The car is 4 years old, 35,000km on the clock and serviced every year so it is well maintained.
Does this seem normal, has anyone had similar experience?
Why does the complete unit need to be replaced?
Is there a defect with f-sports suspension due AVS?
I feel very disappointed as Lexus is supposed to be highly regarded for it reliability.

Yes, this happens once you use the hook button on the steering wheel to make a call. The only way I have figured out how to fix it, is to delete the phone from the car and reconnect it. Perhaps it will be addressed in an update.

Yeah got mine eventually. Significantly slimmer than manuals with previous cars

The camera can be switched to different modes. The fisheye view is default but selecting the one is the exact same as the IS.
For me the con is the position of the drive mode controls.

Hi Nerdboy,
No manuals with a £40,000+ car? I'm horrified.
There must be 500 or so switches and settings in this car as it has more technology than the early Apollo missions. I think I would want a manual to explain to me how it all is to be set-up.
I see that you have got the F-Sport - did you specify the Takumi pack with this?
No, its not an option in Ireland. Plus the spec is very high anyway

Just wondering, did anyone that got a new ES get a full set of user manuals? Do they come in the leather binder? I never got any manuals when I took delivery, initially I was told that they don't do them anymore and then told there was a some print issue, anyone else experience this?

From what I've read, I'm liking the new ES.
Some things I don't like however:
- "Dark Purple" dashboard & wheel with Topaz brown trim option. See picture below in all it's awfulness"🤮
- Only 1 "free" paint colour - black. Metallic paint costs an eye-watering €1,500 in Ireland
- All ES300 Hybrids come with a spoiler it seems. I understand this does help aerodynamics but 🤮
- The fuel tank is a tiny 50L - down from 66L on my IS300H
Comparing the ES catalogue with the IS300H, some other interesting comparisons:
- The IS electric motor is much more powerful than that in the ES: 105kW & 300 Nm Torque Vs 88kW and 202 Nm. (The ICE in both produce almost identical outputs).
- The ES is 310mms longer and 90mms wider than the IS. It's wheelbase is just 70mms longer so much bigger overhangs
- Despite the bigger size, the ES's boot is just 4 litres bigger than the IS; it is however only 20 - 60 Kilos heavier
In Ireland, the base car is the Executive. Unlike the IS base model, this appears to have most of the essentials.
Go for the f sport

when in reverse, adjust the mirrors to the angle you want, leave one of them selected. put it in drive, the mirrors should move back to their original position. keep a mirror selected and put in reverse and the mirrors will dip.
if you don't want them to dip just make sure no mirror is selected.

just took delivery of my new f sport. Absolutely love the car. One thing I noticed was that it came with big plastic protection stickers on the rear doors, not on the edge actually on the lower part of the doors. Not sure if they are clear or colour matched but in certain light they stand out. Just wondering if these are standard and if they can be safely removed..... or should I even?
