  1. Evening everyone. As JAE is fast approcahing I need to give the old girl a good going over. It may be the only LS430 at the show but I don't want it to be the car with the worst paint cindition. This is what I'm going to do so what I'm basically looking for is advice as to weather I'm doing the right thing or not. 1: Damn good rinse off with the hose 2: A good wash with a mit and Meguiars Gold Class shampoo using another bucket to rinse my mit in 3: Good dry off with my big towel (can't remember which one but I think it's a meguiars one) 4: Clay it all over (appart from windows) with quick detailer 5: Another dry off 6: Apply deep crystal paint cleaner on a polishing pad with my G220 polisher 7: Apply deep crystal polish on a polishing pad as well using my G220 8: Apply deep crystal carnuba wax with finishing pad with my G220 9: Sleep for a week as I'm going to be well bushed. Anything I'm missing? Cheers, Jim. P.S. Can't do snowfoaming as I don't have a lance.
  2. The first HID kit I bought was a 6,000k colour temperature. I fitted these to my driving school car and thought they were great. After these went after about four years, I changed to a 4,300k colour temperature kit. You don't get the look of the projector HID lights but they are so much brighter. 4,300k is the ones to go for in my opinion.
  3. I got my two thismorning so I'm defanitly coming on Saturday, ALL DAY. Now I really have to get the G220 out. Looking forward to seeing you all there and putting some faces to the names. Have a goodun, Jim.
  4. 15mpg, you wern't trying hard enough. I got my LS430 down to 4mpg once. I was doing an overtaking lesson for my Rospa driving test. You get my big tank in the right gear and nail it, it seriously moves at the expense of using a refinery full of fuel. I like the RX400h alot as well as the GS450h. I've not had a go in the LS600h but I'm sure it must be good though. One thing I have found with both the hybrids though is of you drive them very gently on the electric motors through a busy town centre, I was suprised at how many people walked out infront of me. You just can't hear these things when they are going down the road. But, there is somthing rather cool about traveling in stealth mode.
  5. Evening all. Printed on the front of my stereo is the name Mark Levinson. What I was wondering is how much of it comes from Mark Levinson. Is it just the amp, or is it the speakers as well? The reason why I ask is when you look at the prce of a Mark Levinson CD player and amp for home, your not going to have much change out of £10,000 for a second hand unit. Just wanted to know, that's all. Being nosey. Have a good weekend everyone. Cheers, Jim.
  6. One thing you can do is manually select a good gear for acceleration just before getting to the speed limit sign. If you are travelling at 30mph, move your gear selector from drive into position 2. Therefore you have prepared for acceleration without having to wait for the kickdown to do its thing. Don't forget to shift it back to position 3 as it approaches the red line and then back to drive. I hope I am right in asuming that the IS200 has a 4 speed auto. Please don't shoot me or hold me responsible if it all ends in alot of smoke and a very big bill.
  7. I had one replaced under warrenty on the back. It was on the far right of the rear bumper. The problem with it was a tiny little nick in the corner of the sensor which would set it off every time you put it in reverse. Apparently it only takes a minute amount of damage for the sensors to fail.
  8. It does sound like the majority of people are talking about their dads car.
  9. I have just extended the warrenty on my LS430 for two years. I always thought that suspension would come under wear and tear but I have just had my front suspension bushes replaced under warrenty. It is expensive though, it cost me £1615.00 but as there is alot that could possibly go wrong I thought it was worth it for peace of mind. It's just nice to know that if in the highly unlikely event it does go bang, I won't be shot with a bill the size of Texas. I also found that using other warrenty company's, if it did need a repair they wouldn't use Lexus main dealers and they didn't cover as many things as the Lexus extended warrenty did. I have also got two years breakdown cover as well.
  10. I made a similar mistake. When I had my 2001 GS300 I bought a dvd from ebay from a 2006 GS300. Of course it didn't work. The disc from my 2001 GS300 is a single layer DVD but the new one is a dual layer. When I got my LS430, part of the deal was for them to supply a 2007 disc which should keep me happy for a couple more years to come.
  11. I want to be the crack spiders bitch too.
  12. There's water - lots of it There is definately running water (not sure how near to the stand though) but the usual thing is just to wash them on the stand - bucket of soapy, bucket of clean and you can guarantee someone will have a full set of polishes they'll let you share if you want to go mad :D Either that, or I hear the Scouts are on a Bob a Job week.
  13. Glad to hear you had a nice holiday. I think you have found the only place in the world where you might want to turn on the sports suspension. I do like the look of whats on your satnav screen. I bet your closer too new tyres now. All the best, Jim.

    Tyres

Thanks Tony. I look forward to hearing from you. I don't mind getting the Continentals at a special offer price but when I need a new pair and they are expensive then it will be difficult to afford them. Hopefully I can get and see you before JAE if not it will be after. Cheers, Jim.
  15. Sorry for my awfull spelling. When I said waste, I meant the part of the body which joins the top half to tbe bottom half. Waist. To be more acurate, It stick into my upper part of the leg which I believe is called the thigh. I was away that day when we did anatomy at school.
  16. Thanks very much for the info everyone. I do suffer sometimes from foot in mouth syndrome from not reading everything I'm supposed to. Look forward to seeing you all there. Jim.

    Tyres

The Continental Sport Contact 3's are 245/45 R18 Y (100) reinforced (whatever that means ) for £164.85 each and the Michelin Piolot Sport's are 245/45 R18 W (96) for £175.26 each. There is a £10 delivery charge on top of that. I'm looking for refienment as apposed to a sporty drive with loads of grip. It may have a sports suspension button (why you would want to make it more uncomfortable is beyone me) but I prefer to waft. Unless I'm using motorway slip roads where I love to give it a bit of wellie to get myself to motorway speeds. Can you fit them as well Tony? Thanks, Jim.

    Tyres

Evening everyone. I'm going tyre shopping online at the moment and have ended up with a bit of a headache. Since owning my first Lexus, I have always sworn by replacing Bridgestone tyres with Michelin. I have found them to be an incredably quiet tyre compared to Bridgestones. On my LS430, the front tyres are Dunlop SP Sport's and on the back I have Michelin Piolot Sports. I have been looking at black circles and have found Continental Sport Contact 3 for £164.85 each and I have also found Michelin Piolot Sports at £175.26 each. I know there is less than £10 per tyre in it but I was wondering which tyres people on here would prefer to fit. Would it make it better if I stuck to the Michelin's so I had the same on each corner or doesn't that really matter? Perhaps Tony from WIM might drop by and have a read of this. Thanks everyone, Jim.
  19. Don't you worry DJWozza, I shall be there. I've spent loads of money on it in terms of a G220 polisher, 2 years extended warrenty, iPod thingy etc. I'd feel more than proud showing it off with all the IS's. Besides, I bet everyone elses will be in better nick than mine. This is going to be my first attempt with a DA. Now if anyone needs me, I shall be tyre shopping. P.S. Can Tony at WIM fit tyres as well as do the tracking?
  20. If they sold them officially in the UK I would snap one up tomorrow and use it as my driving school car. The engine in the petrol one looks exactly the same as what is in my current 1.2 Nissan Micra automatic. It goes well enough and the auto gearbox is really very smooth for a small unit even though it sometimes makes itself felt with the most violent down changes when using kickdown. I do like the cube alot.
  21. Evening everyone. Got my car back today and I'm very impressed. I had the front suspension bushes (still don't know which front suspension bushes) replaced under warrenty. The car now feels much tighter and smaller than it really is. It doesn't tramline as much as it used to and that will be further improved when I replace the front tyres in the next couple of weeks with Michelin Piolot Sports. Also, they got my SL2Vi iPod adapter working too. So far I'm very impressed with it as I don't have to use that stupid tape adapter which often cut half the speakers our or spat the whole thing out on many of an ocassion. The sound quality is very impressive but I havn't managed as yet to be able to try the video part of it yet. Although I posted in the review section, thanks to everyone at Lexus Woodford for getting the iPod adapter going and for the great service from all involved. All the best, Jim.
  22. I'd love a keycars for my LS430. It has the most weird shapped key I have ever seen. Having a card in my wallet makes much more sense. It would stop it from digging into my waste some times.
  23. Evening everyone. I orderd my tickets through the discount website about a week ago now but they still havn't turned up in the post. Does anyone have any idea as to how long it takes for them to be posted? I payed through paypal and there are no reported problems that I am aware of. I just don't want to have to pay at the gate again. Cheers, Jim.
  24. I had this on my old GS300 and also have it on my LS430. I have always found that no matter how sensative you set it, it always just seems to go to recirculate just that little but too late when you are following a bus or lorry.
  25. Quite a common problem is insurance company's not keeping the records between them and the police up-to-date. I remember talking to one of the lads who I taught to drive not long after he passed his test. He was pulled over on three seperate ocassions for no insurance. He did have insurance and even a good discount for doing pass plus. He even had his car impounded twice (by the same copper) because his insurance hadn't botherd to update the PNC or what ever it is called.
