    Fitted!

The car was valeted after its service yesterday and I haven't driven it since so wiped over the top of the bumper with water, dried that off then over again with a 70% Isopropyl alcohol wipe and wiped that off with a microfibre cloth.

I then put a small piece of masking tape on the bumper just under the lock keep and another piece above where the x in Lexus ist in he middle of the protector marked the centre of the bumper and protector on the masking tape, lined them up removed a small piece of the paper from the adhesive tape (thanks for that great tip Colin), offered it up and checked that the lines marked up then removed the rest of the pape.  As long as you don't press down you can still play around with position until you're certain its right then just press down firmly and here is the result59050638a33de_WP_20170429_19_07_18_Pro1.thumb.jpg.cb8bf27dfbea6d3055b80d37a8dca3c5.jpg.

    Hi

Just seen your post, where did you get the protector from.

    It looks very good

    Quite simply, cost.

This is all because both my uncle and my wife have mobility issues. My wife has severely arthritic knees and my uncle has other problems, so this is just an experiment to see if it helps them getting in and out of the car.

Lexus side steps are £500 as opposed to £130 for these. If I could guarantee that the steps will help with their mobility issues, I would happily pay the £500 and more if I had to, but it's just too much to spend on an unknown outcome (it's possible that the steps could make things worse rather than better and so have to be taken off again) and then be left with something that's no use to me and be £500 out of pocket.

I know some people will say "you get what you pay for" and I understand that, but I would expect the cost-cutting to be evident in perhaps the materials used or the longevity of the item, not something that's just never going to fit in a month of Sundays

EDIT: Even worse - just found out that the £500 OEM steps require a fitting kit at a further £93 :surprise:

Go to lexus and see if they will help with the mobility before you invest. Just a suggestion

  3. Hello all

    I currently have a is250 on a late 2007 plate(57) premier model.

It have all the bells and whistles which I'm now looking to upgrade.

Ideally looking for a rx450h with dark interior or atleast dark carpets, as I have 3 kids cream carpets is a big No No.

If anyone has one for sale please get In touch.

All the ones which are on auto trader seem to be with full cream interior or very high mileage

    TIA.
