  1. So, are all LEXUS dealers bound or must honour an LOC discount up to 15%...?

If I join for £25 get a card plus the benefits it brings (anyone know how long this takes) and then tell Croydon LEXUS... I should get a discount?

    Thanks in advance

No, not all Lexus dealers give LOC discount, but the majority do.

Worth shopping around, you may find it's cheaper to drive to a more distant dealer, such as Hanley, and get it done there.

Alternatively why not get the timing belt & water pump done at an independent, then get the rest of the service (and the L stamp in the book) at Lexus?

Incidentally when the water pump failed on my Carina E, Toyota in Builth Wells asked me if they wanted the belt changed at the same time (as it had to come off to do the pump). The extra cost? About twelve quid, the cost of the new belt!

Awesome... thanks for that advice... but I dont really know any good independants who I would trust to take the whole front off and put it back together. I am in SW London if anyone knows of a good mechanic

  2. I paid £505 after LOC discount at Lexus Leicester for a "B" service, cambelt, plugs, brake fluid, diff fluid etc. on a Series 1 GS300 Sport couple of years ago. Had been quoted £900+ at Coventry so try E-mailing a few dealers.

So if my understanding is correct... £699 is a good quote; and with an LOC discount it will be cheaper. Do I simply tell LEXUS Croydon that I am a member of LOC and they will give me a discount?

Should I be eligible for a courtesy car also?

    Thanks

  3. Hi, it's been a while but I'm back...

My first LEXUS has come up for it's 60,000 miles service. It's an IS200 52 plate... (Born Sept 2002) I shopped around and have had varying quotes from as much as £1100...!!! (All Lexus dealers) But the most competitive has been Croydon at £699. Is this a competitive price for a full service inc Cambelt, tensions, plugs, oils and filters...

I wouldn't mind my wheels refurbed in the price either...

Please advise (and sorry if this is another service discussion)

    Thanks in advance

  4. Hi,

I have an IS200 Sport Sept 2002 model. I hadn't driven my car for nearly 3 weeks as I was on vacation and I have had to jump start my car with the aid of jump leads and a second car... on two occasions now. One it starts, runs on... if I switch off, it will start again...

Do you think my Battery has died completley or as I begin to drive it now that I am back it should charge up again.

If I look at the top of the Battery, there used to be a green dot/light... now there is nothing.

    Any advice?

    Thanks in advance

PS. I think its the original Battery. If it helps, I have only done 59,500 miles

  5. Okay, a silly question I know... but I thought I would ask the obvious question...

Could I go to a dealer and ask for a front fog lamp for my IS200 2002 Sport model. I just need the driver side one...

Any idea how much I should pay? Would Lexus sell me one? Or can I go to other suppliers and it would be cheaper... Does anyone have a spare new one???

I have had a look on the For Sale area on the site and there is nothing.

    Thanks in advance

  6. there is a clip on the wing side

undo the wheel arch liner and use a screwdriver to release

    :)

Oh gosh... they don't tell you that in the manual... It's amazing... just to change a bulb, the wheel arch liner also has to come off!!! Thanks for that... do you know the model or type of bulb I need... could I get one of those new white Xenon types in there and change the other side also?

So during the week I can order the bulb (website will be cheaper) and next weekend I can change it.

    Thanks again.

  7. I can't seem to get the front fogs to come out... as in the manual I have unscrewed and removed the 2 nuts from the side (very awkward position) and tried to pull on the light from the front...

It has come loose, but the harder I pull the side bumper wants to come with it!!! I don't want to pull too hard in case I break or crack something...

My fog light has blown/fused that’s why it needs changing.

    Please suggest something

    Thanks

  8. I need to pick your brains, but I have a few visual questions... by looking at the pictures below, could you please tell me if everything is okay or needs attention...

    Thanks in advance

Is anyting missing here... I took the fuse lid off and thought I have 2 missing...

Not sure if you can see the below pictures too well, the condition of my water pump... is it serious because the level in my radiator has been the same since the past 3 months... but not sure but it looks like something has had a small eruption... or maybe I have not noticed before... next to the belts...

    Any ideas...

    002gi1.jpg

  9. ... did you pour water all over the arch or spray it underneath also with a hose...? I will check the petrol lid seal also...

i poured water with a watering can just above the bumper. not underneth

Still a bit cold outside to take the boot lining off... however, credit to Y2kanjar... I also poured water around the bumper and then looked inside the wheel arch... and I see a trickle of water running down...

So then, I pour it closer to the petrol cap... no water... then I pour water near the rear light joint... not a trickle but a reservoir of water fills up...

Okay, so we have discovered where the water comes from, I couldn't see if the water is coming from the flaps however, I think in my case, I need to remove the lining and then see exactly where this is coming from.

I feel that it is coming from closer to the seal between the light cluster and the rear wing just above the bumper and edge...

I have noticed a graze on the rear bumper that indicates a slight impact, no cracks, just a graze, do you think this would have pushed anything out of the way so the seals are not tight anymore...?

Any feedback is welcome as I am a novice... thanks

How will I be able to fix this do you think... and why should this happen...

    nsreario9.jpg

  10. Funny that, because that's where I thought it would be coming from the very first time I discovered water in my arch... but I thought it doesn't happen on the other side so how can it really be that; however, it does look like you may have a slight rip in yours...

So these flaps, what is the purpose of these if they allow water to come in... I will simply have to play detective with a watering can in these few days off... its freezing outside... neighbours are going to think I'm mad...

I will report back on my findings... did you pour water all over the arch or spray it underneath also with a hose...? I will check the petrol lid seal also...

  11. hi all. i have found out how the water is getting into the boot. before i washed the car yesterday i took the boot side linings out plus the boot slam plastic cover. washed the car then i jumped in the boot whilst the wife hosed the car down. low and behold it was getting past the boot seal. do you think lexus would change it free of charge with so many other is200 doing the same the car is 2000 w reg and never had a prang

Where exactly is the leak... is this anything to do with the similar topic as...???

    http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=37289

Water is basically found in the left wheel arch as shown in the pics as described in the above thread...?

  12. Well just checked the car and theres still water on the left hand side

going to have a proper look now

I'm sorry I still have not had time, but still I am getting water in the same place... my cloth that I have strategically placed once again was quite wet that I had to wring it out for it to dry again on the weekend... I need to find out where it comes from as I am a little fed up with it not knowing what is causing this issue...

Is it easy to remove the boot lining...???

    Thanks...

  13. dude did your ever getting this sorted yourself... let me know please

as i have the same problem

You know what; I have been taking a temporary measure and have placed some cloth in the arch to soak up any excess water because I just have not found the time to solve this issue. It has been raining something harsh in London over the past few days...

But in a word, no I haven't sorted this yet. I need to push the black tube in further (but I need to get behind the coverings to do that; pour water in the sun roof and see if it leaks, and then pour water around the filler cap to see if that leaks... just need the time...

On the other hand, if you solve this before I do, send me a PM; it will be much appreciated; it seems to be almost a common issue...

  14. I ran a search regarding speakers and amps and have discovered that there are mixed opinions regarding this topic.

All I wanted to do was to swap my current rear speakers with some Pioneer 6 x 9's. But will the existing amp be able to handle this...

Where is the amp located...? I don't want to change front speakers or the head unit... just speakers for better clarity of sound and tighter bass... but no sub installation etc...

    Can I put these in...?

    Thanks in advance

  15. Sorry to ask; but my role in the company I have worked... after working for them for 9 years has just become redundant... Therefore I was wondering if you could help or guide me the right direction. How much minimum pay should I receive please?

What I know is as follows:

    9 weeks statutory = £290 (non taxable) 9 x £290 = £2610 (I fall into category between ages 21yrs - 40yrs)

Salary £19k per annum (quite crap really)

    Salary Monthly Gross = £1583.33

    Salary Monthly Net = £1211.40

I should receive 9 weeks notice also from my company also (as notice period from them)

Also, I have out of 22 days annual holiday I have taken none of, which equals 8 months so; 14.6 days

So; the question is: How much should I be receiving in hand please...

    Thanks in advance

  16. It's nothing special and you have probably seen it all before...

Some of you may know that I bought my first Lexus... an IS200 Sport on a 52 plate... and I am very happy with it... having asked many questions and receiving a lot of help from everyone... I totally forgot to share with you what I bought... so here it is... I hope you like it...

  17. I think you may be on to something Fluff... good work... I shall have to try this yet again next weekend because I'm working all the daylight hours of this week again...

If I find that water is leaking from the split rubber, how can this be fixed please? Also, would it be an idea to push the clear tube in the black tube up to the line...?

    Thanks

  18. Have exactly the same problem with water gathering here, also

on the left while the right side is dry.

I dont have a sunroof so i doubt its that, my guess is that its either

a bad seal on the rear window or could be petrol cap like somebody else

said...very hard to tell with water leaks though,

i havent solved it yet- so any

    ideas welcome!

I have just made another interesting discovery... but also have a few questions... i.e. Why would the sunroof have an outlet for water (how or where does water get in from...?

But below, I have posted some more pictures that I have just taken today... you will see that the inside left wheel arch is in a dry condition... it hasn't rained neither has been driven in the rain. I discovered a black / transparent pipe just above where the water is collecting... could this be the sunroof flow pipe...?

But you will see in the picture... where is this pipe going to...? And coming from...? There seems to be no blockage because it looks empty... I think if it was blocked, there would be water trapped inside...?

I have strategically placed some cloth so I can see if it is wet from the top or bottom where the water may be coming from ie above or below... still a strange one because 'proplus' doesn't have a sun roof. I did inspect the petrol cap, all the seal around the complete unit... nothing apart from the tiny air hole just under where the petrol cap screws on... still it’s an unsolved crime that I want to get to the bottom of...

When its dry... didn't manage to get the rubber bung out... it was a bit tricky...

    dsc00012wm8.jpg

This is just above the wheel arch out of site...

  19. open the sunroof, with the car on a slop to the rear, run a kettle of hot water into the black tray that sits either side of the sunroof opening, this will cause the water to run into the drain tubes at the rear.

you will know if they are working or not, as water will, or maybe in this case, will not exit from behind the rear wheel.

at this point leave the little black bung in the rear quarter pockets, as if the hose is disconnected , then the water will collect in the pockets

Great advice, I shall have to try this next week as I am at work during all hours of daylight all week and get home after dark...

  20. I only said that as thats where i got mine about 2 months ago.

Thanks Winnie, I will try Maplins in Kingston tomorrow, if not I will order from the web as the above website.

Maplins have got BA9 bulbs but they seem to be slightly different in WATT's but they do have 12V bulbs... if I get the 12V bulb in a higher or lower rating of WATT's... will it damage or put a strain on anything...

Winnie, do you remember the spec or product code (may be on receipt) please...

    Thanks

  21. Aha... There is a tube like thing also in the picture (black), its not that one is it... because there is not one like that on the other side...?

I am assuming that I should remove the left side lining around the arch?

I will remove the bung tomorrow; but this leaves me with the question, how will I find that this tube is blocked and if this is the problem...?

    Thanks (Monster-Mat)

  22. the sunroof rear drain tube may have become blocked or dislodged, remove the inner trim and check all around the tube, and where it exits, also, in the mean time remove the rubber bung thats in the bottom, it will allow the water to drain out

Wow, I didn't know the sun roof would have a rain tube... I thought the rain just runs off the roof... how does the sun roof have a rain tube... and where exactly will I find this please (pardon my ignorance)...?

If I remove the rubber bung, where will the water drain out to... I hope I don't cause a problem elsewhere...

I will have another investigation tomorrow during daylight hours. Thanks
