  1. I want to perform a so-called "Big 3" on my Lexus for my custom car hifi installation (and 3 Kinetik Audio batteries). Will it work on my Lexus IS 220d car? Any advice, recommendations? I don't know if this will hurt my car or not, but people recommend on car hifi forums in the USA recommend to upgrade this. What's the "Big 3" you might ask, well here is an explanation: More information on "The Big 3" can be found at the websites mentioned below: - The Big 3 - link 1 - The Big 3 - link 2 - The Big 3 - link 3 Will my Lexus IS 220d benefit as well? Or is it dangerous for the ECU or something?
  2. As i said there would be Denso numbers on it But remember who owns Denso yepp TOYOTA hence the reason why they pushed you back to the dealer and all the dealer will know is a part number from the EPC also the Alternator might be a new type for the IS220 as you will find the one fitted in a D4D on a Avensis TOYOTA does not have the same output (not as many electrics to cater for on the charging side What is it you are looking to run from the car that needs a higher output Alternator? Well 3 amplifiers in total; 2x monoblocks strapped and 1 4-channel bridged. Would be around 2800W RMS. With my older setup (less power) I already had the problem that batteries didn't get charged fully with music playing. I am now in contact with one custom high output alternator builder in the States and he is trying to contact Denso in order getting more information about the alternator specifications (dimensions, bolt type, etc.). However, after contacting more than 20 companies, I seriously doubt it will be useful. Anyways if this seems to be fruitless, I will stay with my stock-alternator. This "search" is costing me to much time and frustration. :(
  3. Okay, I removed some of the plastic covers on top of my motor, therefor I have "more" (= a little bit) access to the alternator. I took a picture of the information on the alternator: As you can see, it not only shows the part number from Toyota, but as well for Denso, along with another code (in the yellow part) which I don't know what it means. I still find it weird, that even when you have the product codes, you cannot cross-reference (or let alone look it up) on the internet. Even Lexus and Toyota dealers I emailed cannot supply me with the necessary information (bolt type, dimensions and specifications). Sigh... I also contacted Denso about their alternator, but they refer me back to my dealer, who doesn't know anything about the stock alternator. Very un-useful! :(
  4. Thanks for the answer... Seems I am really screwed though, cause over here in the Netherlands or close by I have absolutely no option for rewinding my current alternator (or buy an high output alternator) and in the USA they have problems cross-reference my alternator with one of theirs. So they know how to build my custom high output alternator. I should never have bought a Diesel car; not enough options compared to their gasoline partners (IS 250 & IS 350). I contacted several companies who build and / or sell high output alternators in the USA and I supplied every one of them with all the information I have available, but all resulted in the same kind of answer: "Sorry but we cannot cross-reference your Lexus IS 220d alternator with one over here in the States". Really sucks... And I really need more amperage for my car hifi installation. I can try one "final" thing; getting some decent pictures from my current alternator in the hope that will give them enough information to build me an high output alternator which does at least 250A. Sigh....
  5. Is this what you want this is the one for My IS220d 27060-26030 12V 130amp not sure on make but they are usually Denso units As TOYOTA Own Nippon Denso Regards Matt Hi Matt, First thanks for taking the time to answer me! Highly appreciated. I tried searching on Google, but I couldn't find more information on 27060-26030? You didn't make a typo right (no offence meant here)? Do you have any pics as well? Sorry if I sound demanding, but I am hardly an expert and I don't dare to take out the alternator myself... Regards Hello no offence taken yes that is the number from EPC but sorry i dont have a photo as i dont want to remove anything from the engine area Question why do you need one as i guess this would be covered under the 3 Year warranty and as the IS250/220d is not 3 years old till November take it back to a dealer Regards Matt Thanks man... Well I really need an high output alternator, but therefor I need some information on the stock alternator.

  7. Okay it seems to be a 130A at 12v alternator... ...but I need to know the brand, type, etc. Anyone who can help me out there? I already tried Lexus techdocs, but no succes in finding information
  8. Hi guys, Anyone here who knows the type of (stock) alternator a Lexus IS 220d (2007) has? And what amperage it runs? Also some numbers / brand / etc. would be nice. I am currently not near my car (and I won't be the next few days), but I need to get a new alternator as soon as possible. Your help is highly appreciated! Thank you. Regards, HHawk
  9. I already sent them an email, but they say there aren't any HO alternators for a Lexus. :S
  10. Yeah... That kinda sucks. I know (I looked up a long time ago) that Lexus IS 220D stock alternator does about 130A (my previous car, an Audi A3 Sportback 1.9 TDI had 140A; 10A more then my Lexus!). I don't know what your alternator does. Anyways it's hard to get this kind information. I will make an enquiry at the garage next month, cause I need to bring it in anyways. Would be nice to have a more powerful alternator for my (power)needs. I already contacted a few companies, but none have answered me so far. :( Regards, HHawk
  11. * BuMP! * It seems everyone is happy with their standard alternator here? No one has a high quality sound installation in his car?
  12. Does anyone know if there is a company here or in the United States who are selling High Output alternators for a Lexus IS 220D (or similar)? Let me know, thanks.
  13. If you've removed the bottom part without breaking the alignment pins, try exerting some upward & backward pressure. From memory there's a separate strip seal behind the top bit which needed to be inserted first on the refit. May be good to get a few pics to refer to next time someone on here wants to repeat the exercise :winky: Yeah well, when I pull the panel towards me, and look underneath I see 1 or 2 very long plastic (white) pins. And pulling up, or even pushing up, doesn't help a lot... It's quite annoying, cause I removed my door panels on my previous car (Audi) without these kind of problems... I've been pulling and pushing for the last 10 or 15 minutes, but I cannot get the door panel of. :(
  14. Well managed to pull everything loose, except for the top (window) part... It seems to stay stuck? All the other sides, bottom and middle are loose now... Except for the top part. :S Any ideas?
  15. The switch panel should just pull up and then disconnect the wires, and then the door card panel should just pull off. There are two (maybe three) plastic alignment pins that may break if you do not pull it off square, but they aren't essential (just an aid to quick alignment ). The door card is held on with the usual plastic plug clips. First; thanks for your answer... Highly appreciated! What do you mean exactly by "switch panel"...? The part under A? And by pulling it up, do you mean after I have removed the screw at part A? Thanks.
  16. Hi guys... I am switching my doorspeakers, but I have some problems with removing the doorpanel with my Lexus IS 220 (2007). I am scared of breaking something, so I would like to have some advice... I already tried to search the forum, but I could not find anything about removing the doorpanels on a IS 220d. :( Here is a picture taken with my cell phone (1600x1200) http://www.mvdl.info/door1.jpg I "already" removed the part located at A and underneath is a screw. But before I continue, what do I need to remove more and where (without breaking anything). Thanks!
  17. I am looking for a replacement for my stock alternator (Lexus IS 220d) which puts more A, then the stock one. This cause my current ICE will have a higher draw. :S Anyone knows something useful? Let me know, thanks.
  18. It's a RX400h not a RX350. But anyways I did listen to the ML in the IS, but I didn't like it. Anyways in my current car I have 2x CDT ES component sets, for which I paid 1200 Euro a set. I doubt ML will be better then those. Then again, I am going for one set now and a different brand. I already found out what dynamo the IS has; 130A /edit typo
  19. My dad has a RX400h with a Mark Levinson soundsystem and I did not like it. E.g. the Titanium Tweeters are way too harsh imho. And I am selling my current system from my old car, which will undoubtly bring a good amount of money in. Therefor I can invest money in a soundsystem which suits my personal taste. So if anyone can answer my questions; please do so. Thanks in advance once again.
  20. Hi guys, First; I hope I am posting this is the correct forum, dunno where else to put it. ;) I ordered a Lexus IS 220d Black, which will be delivered in January 2007. Since I am pretty music minded, so there will be some "big" changes to this car. So, as for my questions; 1. What kind of dynamo (generator) does the Lexus IS 220d have in A(mpere)? 2. What sizes are the standard speakers in the front (woofers & tweeters)? Are they 5.25" / 6.5" / 6.9" ? 3. Are there any specifications on the standard radio / cd-player in the Lexus IS 220d, e.g. like connections on the back, etc. Thanks for reading (and hopefully answering) my questions in advance! Regards, Michel
