well there's no dealer near me and i'm not paying halfrauds prices. happy with the new Battery and the bosch brand.

got it from mylocal andrew page depot. cost 57 quid in vat as im not actually a trade account.

lol - just got a call from supplier - they ballsed up and sent wrong Battery - I needed the S4 024 Battery

Mystery solved !

Hope someone can help me sort out what's the issue with my new Battery.

The originals has died so I ordered a Bosch S4 to replace it - got given an S4 027.

The problem is that the terminals seem to be the wrong way around on it - it when I put it in so that that the terminals are nearest to the bulkhead, the negative post terminal is nearer to the centre of the car - ie the termnal connection with the red cover on (usually a god indication it's positive !) and this the negative connection next to the wing would be being connectoed to the terminal post marked positive !

Have I been given the wrong Battery ?

I can recommend Motor Masters on the School Lane Ind estate in Walton Le Dale - they look after my IS200 for me.

Also on the ind estate is WRC (Wheel Repair Company) who I use to do my wheel re-furbs.

I had to re-insure my IS200 yesterday (well it's due on the 14th of May but I may as well get the bank account hit big in one swoop with the car tax of £210)

I managed to get a pant-wettingly good premium of £325 (inc legal cover) from Privilege yesterday by using GoCompare. Asked A-plan if they could shift & match it from their renewal quote of £455, which they couldn't.

One of the few advantages of getting old is getting cheaper insurance, Swiftcover.com do me for about £240ish.

An advantage with them is if you do the occaisional short trip of up to 3 days in Europe, you don't need to inform them that you're going, and you stay at fully comp rather than 3rd party.

very impressed with the HIDS-Direct kit - ordered friday arrived this morning.

Took me about 40 minutes to fit - mainly due to the passenger side being an arse to get the loom wire to have enough length to connect to the ballast. Very happy in that the connectors were wired up the right way as well so that saved me fart arsing about with the pins. The only headache I had was gently cutting the tape of the loom to get the extra inches i needed ! Ballasts are stuck on with very heavy duty double sided pads - they're not going anywhere.

Waiting till it gets dark now to go and see how good they look in real use !

I've just gone for a 4.3k kit on eBay from HIDS-Direct.com - seems to be a pretty decent looking kit and localish enough to throw it back at them if I have a problem with it.

I guess I just have to persuade my missus (who has small hands) to fit the passenger side ballast !

I have Halfords brake paint in blue on my silver Celica. Really stands out - sort of like a Samco hose blue.

I have my '99 Celica GT which is modded as my weekend fun beast. The IS it the mile muncher through the week.

hmm I'm due new boots soon, so I might pop down there and see what they can do for me before getting expensive tyres - my steering wheel points slightly off centre when going straight so I hope this can be rectified as well. This really bugs me !!

you can also use www.cheaptoyotaparts.co.uk - I get Toyota parts from them. Just bought a set of JDM Projecttors for my Celica for £429. Stealership would have been funny about supplying them for a UK car and then still wanted over £500. Even Fensport wanted £425 + Delivery + VAT !!

theres someone on ebay too who does a full refurb for £170 ( i think) it is. Basically they have the lexus wheels already refurbed and you simply give them yours, pay the cash and they give you new ones.

it was something along those lines anyway, i remeber seeing it a few weeks ago as i need mine refurbing when ive got the cash

You mean PX-Wheels who are based in Blackpool? Yeah they regaularly advertise on eBay, they also have their own website, google px-wheels.

Tip > The wheels may have been refurbed that he exchanges with yours- but do you know the condition they were in before he re-furbed them... I've seen some examples...

i yell.com'd the guy in Leeds! there's loads of places around that can refurbish wheels though.

i would because he was a nasty four letter word when i called for details etc. for what he's charging and what you're getting you'll be better off trying yell.

also, alot of the local guys that do wheel refurb's will let you have them any colour (if its an avenue you want to go down) when they respray them having taken them back to the metal.

Definitely worth the trip - and defintley avoid PX Wheels on eBay !

I remember doing my degree at LJMU.. I did Computer Sciences - again this was modular based but in certain semesters leaned heavily on software principles and design dor most of the modules we had to do. Bear in mind I graduated 10 years ago so a lot of the web based stuff on offer now was a dream, but I had to study such classics as Cobol, Pascal, Assembly Language, and design principles such as SSADM, JSD and Yourdon.

Just after I graduated they started a new degree which was much more suited to me and the career I wanted - a lot more hardware and network design based.

At least I got lucky and hada good year out at a decent company - this has given me the most career success out of my 4 years at uni. I'm now an IBM System I and System Storage Specialist.

Yeah - had 1 fault accident years ago when I was on parents insurance - and then in 1999 had a non-fault accident so have been lucky considering how much time I'm on the road.

I've also got 5 years on my other car - but the insurance companies in this country are only just getting the idea that it's the driver who is the risk not the car - so should apply all your no claims to whatever vehicle you drive.

Just had to renew my insurance on the IS. I was insured with Sky Insurance as last year I had 6 months left to run on my policy when I bought the IS - it made no financial sense to stop that policy and start a new one.

Renewal came in at £541 ( a rise on last years total premium of £50) but now I had 7yrs ncb protected, parked on a driveway and with 10k business use 14k annual mileage.

I used confused.com and got prices from around £488. I rang A-Plan and they quoted me £452.50 so they got my business.

Very happy now !

Has it had a car kit for a phone installed previously? It could be an antenna booster for the phone kit.
