I swear by Goodyear Eagle F1's. They just offer so much grip in both wet and dry. The feenback is really good too. I've had them on my Mazda MX-3, Nissan 200SX, and now my LS400. They are nothing other than supurb!
I have heard very good things about Falken FK452's aswell. Never tried them though.
I've got 225/35R19s on my Altezza and i'm impressed, they were new on the car when i bought it, they're very quiet and comfortable given their skinny profile as well as having very good grip. That's my excuse when i cant get the tail out sometimes on roundabouts anyway
I have heard rave reviews about those Eagle F1s from other Altezza owners though

I have stock induction and a Powerflow system with sports cat.
I meant to ask at the meet, if yours is tiptronic i presume it can be held in a specific gear, why couldn't you go on the dyno then?

As ye all know the rolling road day was last sat. Delighted with my results 201.6bhp & 211 torque .Not bad for running on 95ron was only expecting around the 180 mark
I was beaten by 0.7bhp!!! :D I was nicely surprised as well like you i was expecting about 180ish. There's a great hum out of that exhaust as well Mark and it looks the business

Trd
in Altezza Club
I was servicing the Altezza last night and while I was down iin the pit having a look around I spotted a TRD badge on the Gearbox crossmember/mount, between the two plastic skid trays underneath. Do they all have this badge or is mine some sort of TRD edition that i'm not aware off? :o
Also I plugged out my ECU fuse while i was servicing it just to see if i'd notice any difference afterwards, while it was out the indicators flashed for the entire time, like i had my hazard lights on. Is this normal?
-
I've got 19" League rims and havent had any problems with comfort or rubbing. The arches are rolled a bit i'm told by the previous owner but TBH i never checked for sure.
The tyres are 225/35R19 Falken FK452s and are nice and quiet as well.
What sort of wheel pressures do ye use?

My car wont hit the limeter in forth u had to pull fifth but ill let u know what its doing in each gear
mine can hit the limiter in 4th. but thats sooon to be solved. Rsm on thw way!!
Whats done to the cars for ESVA in the UK to delimit them? Mine appears to be delimited :) but theres no sign of am RSM or anything like that
So whats the top speed of yours Tezzy? Mine hits the limiter when it hits the km/h mark on the speedo just after 180kmh. The is other ways to delimit the engine. Thor racing do a box, hks do one, and then theres the manual way to do it by chopping and connecting some wires in the ecu
Not sure what the top speed is but i saw 130 one night before i ran out of (private) road mine has the kmph speedo thats just coverted to read mph. maybe when the speedo is converted it removes the restriction somehow

what's a camcon?
Its basically the best bang per buck mod u can get for the Altezza, gives u some much needed low end torque. Not sure of anyone that has got one tuned in in Ireland though, I might be the first! Plan on getting one soon and see if the lads in Westward will tune it in for me
Been doing a bit of reading up on it and i might be interested in getting one myself. What sort of dosh would we be looking at including set up?

Does anybody apart from me experience a very bad flat spot when accelerating from low revs in second gear?
I get regularly stranded trying to duck onto roundabouts, I coast up ready to stop and if i spot a gap and floor it to nip in the car just bogs down :o :o once it gets to about 1500 rpm it picks up then.
Am i alone in experiencing this?

Yeah i must drop Powerflow a mail and see what they say.
Thing is though I want to have my cake and eat it. The fact that the larger bore and sports cat are probably worth a few extra ponies makes me want to hold onto it, it does look like a quality piece of kit. it just needs to be a bit quieter! :D
-
Is there any way to quieten a noisy exhaust with some sort of insert for the baffle?
I'm running a full stainless Powerflow custom set up installed by the last owner and find it very droney, and raspy when cold.
If my only option is to replace it then i'll probably just live with it since it's a custom job i probably would need to change the whole thing, plus there's a sports cat and lifetime guarantee on it.
Any suggestions?

deposit paid as of 5 mins ago Dizz, sorry about the delay
So will these guys actually recommend adjustments or mods to improve the reliability/performance of the car or is it just a printout for ****waving purposes?! :D

I was onto the local Toyota dealer pricing a few service bits there before Xmas and asked him about ordering a spare key. (Mine is the same as above: gold Toyota logo with 2buttons on the side)
He said they didn't have any in stock so i asked him about ordering and he couldn't find them on the system. Meaning they can't be ordered apparrently :o

I left mine down with my uncle the other day to change the timing belt, he's been snowed under in his garage so he said he'd bring it to work with him (he lectures mechanics in FÁS) and use it as a demonstrator with the apprentices. Hmmm... :D :o

It cost 300 yoyos and i fitted it myself but im just warning u it takes 8 or nine hours to fit :P . it takes a bit of messing around with the shock sensor make sure its not too sensitive :winky: .The only bad thing is very loud exhausts can set it off .I can show u it working at the rolling road meet if u like
Cheers Mark yeah I'll have a gander at the meet. Reminds me i must pay the deposit completely forgot

Hows things mate in my opinion the falcon evo 4+ is a brill alarm .it has remote start immobiliser proximity sensor i could be here all day listing what it has .The base model is 250yoyos not fitted but i went for a few extras, such as the poximity sensor which puts a shield around the car and if u enter that shield twie in 30 sec the alarm will go off. :D Oh ya its a pager too so if your within 1000meters of the car it will page u if it goes off
Sounds good Mark, how much did it come to altogether including the few extras and fitting? Did you ever have any problems with false alarms or being locked out and the like?
Remote start sounds tempting these mornings as well B)
My old man is an electrician but does auto electrical work as well could I rope him into fitting one?
Why did Toyota in their wisdom not see fit to put even an immobilisor on them but the IS200 was deemed one of the most secure cars in its class? :duh:
-
So what does the Altezza actually come with as standard, security wise?
I presume it has some sort of immobilisor, what about an alarm? Mine gives a little beep when you lock the doors and 2 beeps when opening is this the alarm? I've tried testing it by rocking the car and thumping the windows but nothing. ;)
If there is an alarm is there any way of adjusting the sensitivity?
-
Nice car well wear :)
What's the difference between the TRD dials and standard ones? Cant really see from the pic it's quite small
You have it long?
-
You in Dublin Enda?
Anyone around Waterford with one of those Silent Hi Power jobbies? Actually any1 from Waterford on here at all? Must be theres tons of Tezzas about! It's jap import central.
Anyway I've a full Powerflow system on mine with sports cat, there is a good howl out of it, sounds tinny when cold but ok when warmed up. Last guy put it on and theres a lifetime guarantee with it which is reassuring.
-
Yeah i saw those ASP ones on eBay, i'd prefer an OEM look though.
Looks like a dealer RX300 badge is the way forward so, i have the IS200 on the back already so i dont need to buy that. Not cheap are they?! €54!
Off topic Looking at that page though they have earthing kits for sale, does the altezza suffer in this respect? I know Integras have issues with earrthing but never heard of Lexus's's's / Altezzas having the same trouble
-
Right so I have Lexus badges and grille on my RS200 and i do prefer them to the Altezza badging but I was just wondering would it be possible to get a chrome RS200 badge in the same style as the IS200 badge on the boot?
I see some of the lads have them listed as a mod in their sigs can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to get them?
Cheers

I agree...TRD looking one is not as good as the Ugo version....
I know that Lextasy in the states sell the Ugo spoiler if you are looking for a vendor! However there may be a closer/cheaper supplier that someone here may know of!
Mat...Bazza...I'm pretty sure you boys have Ugo spoliers on your IS's...where did you get them from if you would be so kind?! :D
I have one on my machine, i prefer it to the arched type spoilers, adds to the understated classy look of the car.
il mail the guy i bought the car from think he said he fitted it

So what of miles per gallon am i looking at on the RS and AS please?
only have my RS200 a week or so, did my first mpg calculation last night after a fill up: 20mpg on a mixture of back roads, city, and late night 'spirited' motorway driving. on crappy 95 octane petrol
How does that stand up? filled with Shell V Power last night will see if that makes a difference.
Whatever just buy one, its a small price to pay for such a cracking car! :)
If your changing between standard unleaded and v- power make sure you reset the ecu, it helps the ecu adjust to thge different fuel quicker. i get about an extra 50 km from a tank of vpower
How do i do that? Pull a fuse or disconnect the Battery?
