  1. Should i use in my car, im using 5w40 at the moment which i change every 3-5 thousand miles. Ive noticed a slight tap on start up from cold which lasts about 10 seconds which got me thinking that the oil may not be thick enough.

She's running standard power soon to be BPU if that makes any difference.

What oils do you guys use???????

  2. Got those coilovers on my risto, its made a big difference.

Ive ajusted them to the hardest setting front and rear but to be honest they just feel firm and the rides alot tighter :D

I'm yet to play around with the settings on the coilovers

So....on the hardest setting is it a bumpy ride, too hard?I like to keep mine feeling a bit comfortable when hitting little pothole bumps etc :)

For the first week or so the car felt quick stiff but as the coilovers settled in the ride became nice and comfortable, i can go round corners without having the car feel like its going to wobble off the road lol.

  4. Not sure unplugging them was the right thing to do.

There's a lot of discussion of this problem on clublexus.com forums....they have the same issue after suspension install as the ABS sensors have been tampered with.....again, I told my garage not to touch them or damage etc. and everything was fine with my Tein install.

Unplugging and replugging the sensors was more of a fault finding exercise to see if any of the plugs were crushed or damaged on the inside.

Ive done a few search's on Clublexus but didnt find anything, i do spend alot of time on there so if there was anything on the Second Gen GS forum im sure i would of seen it, if you could give us a link that would be good B)

  5. Your ABS lights etc. are most likely on because whoever fitted them has made an **** of it!!!! The ABS sensors are disturbed or broken during coilover install.

I think you need an ECU reset.....but you need those ABS sensors looked at.

My mechanic taped them up carefully before my Tein Flex install.

All of the ABS sensors have been unplugged and checked and are all fine, im not sure how to do a ECU reset but ive done all of the normal ways to try a get rid of the lights, disconnecting battery/fuses etc but the diagnostic machine that the garage had couldnt read a OBD1 car they could only read OBD2 cars 1999 onwards i think.

You must be very disappointed..... Who fitted them?

JDP Motors. They are getting a new diagnostics kit on wed to sort out the lights my car. :D

  6. Coilovers fitted but im not happy with the height, i had the car booked in for the arches to be rolled but i just managed to get up the drive at this height. BUMMER. Oh yeah and my ABS/TRC and ARS light are all on but besides that its tight as ***** lol :angry::angry:

  7. Very nice rims, I have seen your update with them fitted to car - looks smart.

Keep me posted on coil covers as I will be looking to upgrade mine soon.

    All the best Paul.

Im getting the coilovers fitted on monday so i will take a few pics while there being fitted and the end result, by the way loving the new sig :D

  8. Gorgeous wheels there, nice choice. Where they bought from within the UK, or did you have them imported? Looking forward to seeing them fitted :)

    Jamie

I bought them from Envy Performance, Great guys Kevin & Gaz they done me a great deal.

They can import loads of different wheels just depends how deep your pockets are :winky:

Ive posted a few pics of the wheels on my car in my other post, check it out :D

  9. Nice! Car looks GREAT! Glad to see another person with the JDM window visors ;)...now the car just needs to be lowered! (I can talk haha).

Just a question - will those clear BBK's or Supra calipers?

I actually quite like the window visors people can tell its an import lol, cant wait to get the car lowered and have a hard ride instead of wobbling round corners like a sausage

I really want the rear lip cut but im just worried about getting rust, ive got paint and laqua (SPELLING) so hopfully that will be enough, i will be able to go alot lower by doing this and then stiffen the rear end right up so it doesnt rub.

Im also going to ask the garage to adjust the rebound rate so its faster.

Not sure if they will clear why do you ask?

  10. careful because i reckon some scumbag will try have the centre caps off within a few days! :tsktsk:

They will have to find the car first lol, it spends most of its life in my garage or at my work under my cafefull eye :D

  11. Sounds like a good plan - FK452's will do you VERY well!

What coilovers are those if you don't mind me asking? Any specifications on them?

I picked up the coilovers from Dave, they are the Inverted type,32 levels of damping, mono tube design, pillow ball topmount, adjustable lower mont allowing for full length travel and finally they are spring rate/preload ajustable, i think thats about it but im sure Dave will correct me if im wrong :winky:

  12. NICE! What kind of tyre setup you planning on going with? Car lowered? Oh and get an alignment done ASAP after having them fitted on! :).

Cheers for the comments guys, i didnt want to skimp on tyres but didnt have alot of choice even though the Falken 452's will still cost me £650 fitted/balanced etc. I going for 275-30-19 rear & 245-35-19 front, these are the coilovers that i will be fitting in a few weeks,im not sure if to get the arches pulled and the lip cut or to see how low i can go first . Dont worry Skeet i will get full geomentry as soon as the car height is to my liking :winky:

  13. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

A friend told me it could be the turbo seals on there way out depending on how old the tubbys are. He also told me that is normal for them to blow some oil past the seals on the turbo, but it usually happens when the turbos are getting worn out or almost in need of a rebuild.

Oh well another thing to replace on the mota if they do give up :crybaby:

I'm certain that if you're turbo seals are gone you'll notice smoke through the exhaust when decellerating and a puff of smoke when WOT. I wouldn't be "too" concerned until the above starts rearing it's ugly head...that's when you'll NEED to get the turbo's rebuilt - could be a good time to go single ;) .

Good point ive got no smoke at all,Oh well single will have to wait a bit longer :winky:

  15. The SMIC is a bumper job...although it shouldn't take any longer than a couple of hours to remove it. IIRC there's guides floating around - just do a search on google.

Nice job on the Throttle Body...I need to do mine (saw it just two weeks ago and it was worse than yours! :o).

Once you get the SMIC off I'd suggest you get a tub of kerosene or diesel and just dump it in there overnight (don't get high on the fumes :P)...that'll clean up the SMIC pretty nicely. Then if possible, give the whole thing a blast with a pressure washer or something...that'll definitely sort it out and see if you can straighten up any of the fins.

Nice one cheers for the advice, im going to be getting a Greddy FMIC but wasnt sure what the difference between the Type M or V, does anyone know?

  16. Thought i would have a quick look at my butterfly to see how clean it was and to my shock i found this.

    airintakepipe0002.gif

    airintakepipe0003.gif

The best thing to clean this with i thought was Electical cleaner/Brake cleaner, it evaporates quickly and doesnt leave any residue.

    This is the end result.

    airintakepipe0004.gif

    airintakepipe0005.gif

I took most of my pipes off to clean including the Maff which i gave a very carefull blast with the Electrical cleaner.

I was a bit worried that i would find a litre of oil in my SMIC which i had seen on another site somewhere but cant remember where now, I didnt get time to take the SMIC off so with have to do that next weekend, does anyone know if its a bumper off job or can i do it from top and bottom?

  17. Its fine - I have this model fitted in mine, no problems at all. :D

    All the best Paul.

How easy is it to fit was thinking of doing it my self

Was there any modifications needed to make it fit?
