  1. Hello Everyone, I'm a new member to this forum, and was introduced to it by another Lexus owner after explaining I was looking for a replacement LCD unit for my GS300. I've been driving my GS300 for nine years now, and have always found it to be a very reliable car. I'm most pleased with it, and have had no major issues until recently. I guess after approx. 312.000 km and nine years the odd item may come along despite keeping up every inspection, and keeping the car in good condition. Approximately 1 1/2 months ago my LCD terminal went complete orange in colour with black and white horizontal stripes showing, instead of the normal "Lexus" logo when starting the car. I'm still able to use the unit by remembering from memory where the touch fields / buttons are situated, so I'm able to use the air conditioning and set the unit as required, but in the long run this is not a satisfiying situation. After contacting the Swiss national Lexus dealership I was informed that they would have to take out the whole unit, and send it to Germany to check it, and a new unit would cost approx. 7.000 CHF, as well as waiting approximately 3 to 4 weeks, during which I would not have my car at my disposal. This is not quite what I would expect from a Lexus dealership, especially concerning the time to repair the unit, and the actual costs incurred. 7.000 CHF is approx 3.000 Pounds or 4.500 Euro, which I really find somewhat rediculous, and would like to replace it on my own. Therefore I would appreciate any help from other members, which may know of someone who has possible a "second" hand LCD unit which fits for my GS300, or any other suggestions on what the problem may be, and how to resolve it. I've been informed from Lexus Switzerland, and Germany that no one has every heard of this happening to a Lexus at all, and usually the LCD unit for climate, CD and navigation control lasts for the life time of the car. One last note I do not know which LCD unit has been installed into my GS300. Evidently there are 3 manufacturers who supplied these, and two of them allowed the exchanging of the LCD terminal itself, and the third required the exchange of the complete unit and console. Many thanks in advance for all of you who may be able to help me further on this issue. Kind regards Wesley NE, Switzerland
