  1. Hi. I fitted an eight sensor system myself. They're excellent.

Look on eBay for Naviks. This little interface hooks up to your sat nav computer in the boot and allows a camera.

I also added iPod/iPad/iPhone connections to it do I can watch video on the nav screen and listen to tunes from my phone etc.

    Gary.

  2. Its.....brilliant!!!

is that some sort of new setup?

as i am currently studying automotive engineering and i havent seen anything like that before...

    OMG.....i really like that

want to get one for my IS....(if i got the money.... :duh: )

I'm contemplating prototyping a kit for my SC430. Prob got the bits laying around to do a rough tester.

Got a customers car and a project Soarer for my own company to do first though. May try and squeeze it inbetween.

  3. Been doing the snow mode experiment for about a week now, and will have to curtail it tomorrow as I'm going to be doing lots of untypical driving.

Previous average per tank was 18.9 mpg This is sometimes with the switch in economy mode but more often with it in pwr mode. Current average on this tank which has been used every trip in snow mode is 22.1mpg. That's nearly 17% improvement. I do 15000 miles per yr and petrol up here is currently £1.10. If I run in normal mode it's going to cost me £3.900 per yr in petrol. If I run in snow mode it's going to save me £670 on that figure.

    .... worth having eh?

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

I posted re snow mode query a while back and I thought that nobody had taken any notice. Assuming that your experiment was in answer to me; thank you.

Do you think that using snow mode, all or most of the time, could do any damage to anything? I assume the engine switches to a higher gear sooner than normal cutting performance but saving fuel.

Also, there's been alot of talk about changing transmission fluid of late. My '98 LS400 Mk 1V has nearly 99K on clock - I'ver noticed lately that acceleration from stationary, when first starting up, a bit strange - similar to the clutch

slipping if it were a manual geared car. It then seems o bite and from then on is OK. Could this be a sign of fresh fluid being needed, or someghing more serious? The car hasn't had it's timing cam belt changed yet - should I get tat done soon?

Thanks to anyone who might read and/or reply.

I do enjoy reading all the postings and assume we're all learning something from someone - thanks to you all.

My soarer has a built in safety for a cold gearbox. It basically changes more gentley until the oil is up to temp.

    Yours could be the same?

Snow mode on my SC430 seems to reduce power and make the throttle less responsive.

  4. PDFs should be with you now.

I've previously had a 400 (mk3) and then a 430, and the car is a progression on from them. I do recommend the SE-L to you.

My car is Windsor Blue, which is really a camouflage colour. With a thin patina of dirt and dust on, you can readily park the car without it being too obvious. I've also got black leather, which is fine until you return to a car that has been standing in the sun.

If I try to say anything too much that's positve about the car, I'd only end up sounding smug. <g>

:D Be as smug as you like man! I already have 2 Lexii lol. One shouldn't be modest about owning such a fine machine :)

  5. LOL. jack up the car each side at a time (enough to get the driver in past the tyre) and remove the 2 small screws at the rear of the liner using a stubby pozi.

Prise the liner outward and you'll see a self tapping bolt where the bumper meets the wing.

Undo this, and the pop stud at the bottom underside of the bumper. Pull the bumper away from the car just to unclip from the wing seam. Use the stubby pozi to undo the screw holding the reflector while holding the bumper away from the car.

    Gary

  6. The pdf would be nice cheers! EFSelec@blueyonder.co.uk

I see you already have the car. What's it like day to day?

I don't need a wedding car lol. prefer the colour combo i posted earlier, or maybe the black wood trim. But deffo dark paint and light leather. (not grey though).

I did like the reddish option on my SC430 but ended up with black.

My Soarer TT has black/silver grey interior (custom).

    Cheers.

    Gary.

  7. Fairly easy. You can do it without removing the bumpers. 12 led's +4 lamp holders (501 type). A drill and a bit of patience.

Carpets had to be removed completely, then sprayed with carpet dye. The plastic parts are primered then sprayed with ordinary car paint.
