Thanks.
It would be helpful if I could be sure though; I have already bought 2 sets of bits and none of them fit.

I can't remove the ECU from my 52 plate 2003 IS200 because of the secrutiy screws. They look like 5 sided torx somewhere between T20 and T25.
Does anyone know what they are called so I can try and find an appropriate bit?
Thanks

I found the ECU but now I can't remove the security screws...

Can anyone tell me where to find the ECU in my 52 plate 2003 is200?

I think I have found a solution:

I have lost both master keys (only have valet key) and had just about given up hope when I came across this:
http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Immobilizer-Hacking-for-Lost-Keys-or-Swapped-E/
Has anyone successfully done this with a 52/2003 Lexus IS200?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply but my e-mail address does not appear anywhere on my profile page or anywhere on the Edit Profile page.
Maybe it does for you because you're an admin?
Can you provide a screenshot?
Thanks

Bump?

Thanks for the reply.
When you say you bought a 2nd key with transponder, you mean you just picked up a key (for another vehicle) from eBay?
Did you need a black/master key to program it? I only have the grey/valet key.

Yes, on the inside cover I have model name, reg no, VIN, Stock number (a 6 digit number), the colour code (Granite Sky), trim code (Exmoor) and the delivery date (16-1-03).
Engine No is blank and there is no mention of the locking wheel nut code or the key code.

like I said you can have another key cut using the key code in your service history book or on the other hand find a good locksmith who specializes in car key 🔑 programming and he should be able to help.I wouldn't bother buying a used key except of course you want to use the transponder and have it reprogrammed to your car
Thank you for your reply but there is no key code in my service history book.
The guy at the garage I use for MOT and servicing told me that I need a credit card type thing that will have codes for the ECU and the stereo, etc.
I spoke to a Lexus dealership and they told me that they're not aware of a code for accessing the ECU, that I can buy a new key from them which will start the car and then take it to an auto locksmith to get the remote lock/unlock programmed.
I am sorry if I am asking the same question again but I am getting conflicting information from different sources.
Thanks

I have a 52/2003 IS200 Sport with 2 lost black/master keys and all I have left is the grey/valet key.
I see that there are used keys available for my model car but can anyone give me some guidance about what I need to look for when buying one? Do I need to match up a key model number or something?
Once I have the key, can you give me a ball park figure how much it should cost to have it coded to my vehicle?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply.
No spare transponder, it got moved to the new shell when I had the replacement key cut.
I have the manual and service history book.
He got a quote of £60 for a new key with immobiliser transponder but that did not include the remote locking...

Hi
How do I change my email address? There is no mention in Profile but it has settings for ICQ etc.? Does that even still exist?
Also, it requires me to enter a county but I am in Bristol... which is not in a county. Historically it was Avon but that doesn't exist any more.
I tried to PM admin but it says admin cannot received messages.
Thanks

So I gave my old car to my brother and he managed to lose 2 keys in 2 weeks. The two keys he lost were the black original ones and the one we still have is a grey one which I think is a replacement? One of the lost keys had a replacement key blade at some point and I still have the (broken) original.
Can anyone provide details (part number?) for the key/fob/remote I need, recommend a supplier, how I get it programmed (or program it myself) and how much it should cost?
Many thanks

There are no red/white RCA inputs on the back, if that's what you're asking.
Does it have an AUX option in the menu? I can't remember.

Yes, that was it. I was just testing B)
What a doughnut. Thanks for your help!

Someoneone shunted me on the dual carriageway and now my electric windows no longer work, except for the drivers window.
I guess it's a fuse or cable that has come loose. Is it likely to be an easy fix or will I need to leave it to a garage? Anything obvious I should be looking at?
Thanks

I needed this work done quickly as I'm driving up to London on Thursday, so I just took it in to the garage where I had my MOT done a few months ago.
I told them I needed the 60,000 mile service and that at 6 years the timing belt was also due. When they started work, they found the water pump was leaking so I told them to replace that too.
I've just had a call to say it's ready to collect and that the total is £859.84 all in!
They told me the service was £308.08+VAT and the rest was £469.58+VAT, which included the timing belt, tensioner, idler, water pump and anti-freeze.
Obviously I'm an idiot for not getting a wrtitten quotation but I expected it to be under £500. I had the cam belt, tensioner and idler down at around £130, and the water pump at around £100, which means they've charged me ~£200 labour to fit them, PLUS another ~£200 labour for the rest of the service.
Am I being naive or is this wildy overpriced?

Difficult but looks like a dark chrome to me.
I would have expected all IS200's in the granite sky colour to all have the same lights - is that not the case? Thanks

247spares has since quoted me £50.53 (used) including VAT and delivery, which is better but still more than I imagined it would be.
I didn't realise there was more than one type though. I guess the dealership knew from the registration. 247spares didn't ask me about which type I needed.
What am I looking for then? As far as I'm aware, the car is entirely original spec.
dazz32: Thanks for the offer but I'm after a new one to replace one with a small hole in it :) When I took it off, it had more than half a litre of water in it!

Have you had a look on ebay?
Yes, prices start at around £70 plus shipping which is rediculous for a used part.
The online parts finders suck too. I don't understand how they could maintain such high prices when you can get a genuine part direct from the manufacturer for less.
