  1. OK, so I've looked into tyres. Apparently the 215/40 R18 isn't a common size, so the cheapest I can get for a set of 4 fitted including VAT is £345.00 (Falken).

If I go for 225/40 R18 I can get a set fitted including VAT for £276.00 (Nexen).

Have no experience of either tyre, anyone got these on their car at the moment? Are they any good?

Used to have Toyo Proxes T1-S on my Cupra and they were superb... (T1-R's are £390 in a 225/40 R18)

hi there, just a note to say i was really happy with the combo i had on my lex, yes they do stick out further but with the 225 tyres just make it look a little more agressive. unfortunately i sold mine (bloody taxman) before i took any photos of them on my car otherwise i would post them. but id say go for it with the 225/40r18 is same as i had with no probs at all. ran them for a good few miles (3-4k) and didnt notice any inside edge wear either, something i never did get sorted before i sold lula the lex!the tyres i had on mine were vredstien ultrac (altissimo????- notsure cant remeber that bit)

i'll reply to your pm anyway but just in case ya dont get this hope it helps mate.

  2. no idea where you from matey so probably not local to me- one thing i would say is about coulour matching the 2 that have already been refurbished otherwise you could have a set of four in 2 different colours

  3. hi mate- dunno if your wanting to upgrade parts or not but s/s exhaust is £300 fitted set of springs £100 + fitting and would say get bushes done when springs are fitted, not sure of price on bushes but a profles exhaust hanger is about £6 inc vat so prob £300 all in for suspension mods.

    hoppe this helps.

  4. thanks will try this out- just gotta find a thermometer!

also noticed that there is sometimes a puddle of water under the car, a couple of times recently its had a greeny tint to it. is this condensation? the greeny colour is a bit worrying which is why i wondered if theres like a standard colour for the refrigerant. like brake fluid is usually red.

guessing a trip to air con specialist maybe needed after all.

  5. hi, just wondering if anybody knows anything about car air con systems. i think there may be a leak in a friends system.

    any classic tell tale signs?

    colours of refrigerants?

ps- know i'm not currently a lexus owner anymore... :tsktsk:

  6. I'm just after some info or advice on how those of you who split your headlights to spray them up, then resealed the headlights?

I've read quite a few topics on here with the help of the "Search" facility, but what I want to know is months/years done the line are they still sealed?

Which method did you use (re-heat the lights and use the old glue or clear out the old glue and use a silicone sealant?

Anything you would do different if doing it again?

Oh one more thing, both these headlights have the dreaded broken top plastic brackets (the one that is more prominant).....anyone have this problem, if so how did you get around it? Does it affect use of the headlights (although the headlight is still secured by the 2 x 10mm bolts and 1 top mount bracket).

    Much appreciated guys.

    Keith

    hi keith

my suggestion would be to glue and brace the upper brackets back together (presuming the broken bits were in the box)otherwise the beam may "jump" as your driving. maybe even use fibreglass- not pretty but a bit of sanding and some paint should do the trick. let me know if ya want me to take this up with pacelforce mate.

  7. the difference is when the tyres are fitted. asymetrical tyres can run properly clockwise or anticlockwise. when you look at the tyres fitted to the right and left wheels they tread patterns will not be symetrical

a rough look would be asymetrical= <(( left tyre <(( right tyre

normal symetrical tyre= <)) left tyre ((> right tyre

so re050's can only be mounted on the rim one way and will be marked inner and outer. re050A's will not be marked inner and outer so can be mounted either to run clockwise or anticlockwise.

asymetrical tyres always look a bit odd to me as if theyve been fitted wrong but the advantage is they can then be mounted on any corner of a car.

confusing but hope this helps :geek:

Asymetric tyres WILL be marked inner and outer and as such can only be fitted to the rim in one way. They have a different tread pattern on the inside to the pattern on the outside.
