  1. my mates dad had the 225 on a 51 plate s-line and that was pretty fun, the cars are not boring as such, just grip far too well and very easy to drive quick, too composed and reassured for my liking, i found you have to drive like a looney to be involved and have to correct anything as the car just deals with what you throw at it, it made my ex bird think she could drive so it must of been good.

lol, yeh I know what you mean. Its a well balanced car and the 4 wheel drive system helps alot with the handling. I do think a road angel will be one of my next investments.

  2. advice on tt if mk1, i could never see out of it, out of the windscreen was poor, side front windows bad and anything past b pillar forget it, also prone for cambelts snaping so look into that, a lot quicker than lex, no turbo lag, very solid grip from quattro etc. found it boring to drive and not as enjoyable as is200, audi very expensive to service etc. 180bhp quattro 52 plate a few years back

Alright mate, yeh the visabilty is poor, but its a coupe and I didn't purchase it for praticality, its some thing i'll live with to be honest. Thanks for the advice about the belt mate, I did hear about the belts breaking early, its the same for the lexus is200. Both cars initially recommended belt changes at 100000 miles, they are now recommmended at 60000 miles (is200 and TT), so its going into the garage next week to get it replaced.. As for the audi service bill's, I'm quite lucky as i'm a vechial tech, so i only need to buy parts, which is very helpfull to the wallet. I must say though, I don't think the audi is boring to drive but I suppose its still new to me, so will have to let you know in a few months, by the way I got the 225bhp s line., very impressed with the power.

  5. Hi everyone

    PLEASE HELP!!!

I have an IS200 SPORT and need ISO leads to fit the original CD 6 disc multi changer harness which packed up (error 3). I have tried every where and my head is done in.

Has anyone else had this problem and is so please let me know where you got your leads from.

Thanks from a very frustrated Lexus driver.

  6. Thats never gonna pass an MOT test, thats for sure. But they do look smart

why wont it?the outer brake lights stay solid as does my high level brake light.look at my sig matey tells you what i do for a living.

I'm also an MOT tester, have been for 8 years. The mot hand book states that there must be a solid and steady red light when the brakes are applied, your's clearly flash when you apply the brakes, matey

P's That means all brake lights, not just outer and centre

  7. I think its more complex than that, one of the electronics guru's will be along soon to give you some advice.

It depends how big the magnet is, I put some Alpine 6 x 9's in yesterday, and fitted them directly onto the rear, no need for mods or spacers.

  8. Hi there

Just wanna say thanks to every one for there help with the stereo issue. I decided to get the Alpine cde-103bt, I am over the moon with it, I've put in some Alpine 6 x 9's in the rear too. The sound quality is awesome, can't believe how much better it is.

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  9. Hi, just bought a 2001 IS200 S grade, cloth trim. I have been offered a full leather interior with door cards and Heated seat buttons, I plugged the buttuns into lower dash trim and they lit up orange when pressed in so this confirmed there was an ignition power supply to them, My question is, is there already fitted under seats or carpet an existing loom so I can plug in the electrice seat operation AND the power plugs for the seat heater,, I lifted the drivers seat and put my hand under carpet but could only find Air bag loom. Please help as I am hoping it is there as I can not be bothered to do a rewire and I shall stick to the lcloth trim, thanks in advance Phil P.S prompt reply would Help as I have this week as holiday Iand I can fit them soon.

    Alright pal

I have done the same conversion about 18 months ago. Unfortunately there wasn't any wiring under my seat, but the wiring is really straight forward, the wiring only took me a couple of hours to do, the most difficult part of the job is taking the trims out. I've got a wiring diagram if you need it. If you need any help, i'm more then happy too.

  10. I've got the Alpine 101 which looks identical but only has amber lighting (matches the car's), I added the Alpine drawer underneath to hold the ipod but it only takes a nano. The sound is excellent though the stock speakers.

Thanks for that mate, I went to Halfords today and had a look at the Alpine, its a very nice head unit, I'm very tempted. Could you post a pic of the unit in your car please. Just want to know how it looks installed.

    Thanks

  11. have u thought about double din units mate??

Yeh I did mate, I looked at the Pioneer FH-P80BT which was about £300, but had the same features as the kenwood and Alpine. I don't know if its worth paying an extra £100 for a double din. What do you recknon??

  12. hi everyone!!

Well I've had my IS for almost 3 years now and my standard cd player has decided to pack in for the second time. So instead of getting it repaired again, I've decided to put a single din stereo but i'm struggling to choose what to get. I think i've narrowed the search down to 2 units, which are:-

    Alpine cde-103bt (Linky

    Kenwood kdc8041u Linky

I think the Kenwood is a 2008 model and the Alpine is a 2009 model.

The big advantage of the Alpine is that you can change the display colours to match the cars dash colours, which I think is a big plus.

Does any one have either of these two stereos?? which one is the better option, also if you have any other stereo suggestions which are similier spec, please let me know. Finally, will there be much differance in sound quality compared to the standard stereo fitted to the car??

    Thanks

  13. Ok so here's the issue I got back to my car after work today and when I went to unlock the car remotely nothing happend, likewise I couldn't open the boot. I used the key in the lock and if I turned the key and pulled the handle simultaneously I could open the door but the alarm would sound continually, also this only unlocked the drivers door. If I just turned the key in the door lock then the door would remained locked and the alarm would sound. Also if I unlocked the boot with the key the boot would open but once again you guessed it the alarm would sound.

In then end I opened the door as described above and drove away with the alarm stopping after a short period. Concerned I drove home had something to eat consulted a couple of threads on here along with my Lexus owners manual, at this point I thought it prudent to check the fuses for the central locking system. When I went out to the car (having left it unlocked) I removed the passenger side fuse cover and at this point I tried the buttons on my key fob, they worked! I couldn't believe it!

So what I'm asking is has anyone had this here before and if so was it just a glitch or an indication of something more going wrong?

    thanks in advance.

I have seen this problem a few times on the forum, from what I remember reading, some frequencies (e.g radio transmitters) can effect the key fob causing it to interfere with the remote control frequency. That may have been the problem you had, its happened to me a couple of times

  14. i always thought that any cars fitted with LSD's had to be tested on the roads using a decelerometer?? I know mine always is.....

How do they know if you've got an LSD though (assuming you haven't taken it to Lexus), since it's not easy to tell ? Do they work it out from the VIN or something ? Just that I haven't been asked.

When the back end is jacked and you spin one of the wheels forward on an LSD, the opposite wheel will turn in the same direction, on a normal diff the opposite wheel wheel spin backwards.

From there you know what brake test to do, thats how I usually check anyway.
