    BODY 004 02-09-90 LS400

Title GLOVE BOX DOOR CHECK-ARM RATTLE

    CONDITION:

A rattle or squeak noise from the glove box door area may be apparent when the glove box door is closed and/or the vehicle is driven over rough roads. This condition may be caused by the movement of the glove box door check-arm against the glove box door and/or the checkarm through hole in the dash

    REPAIR (INSTALLATION) PROCEDURE:

To reduce the possibility of the check-arms rattling or squeaking, (1) Glue a small piece of felt to each edge of the through holes and (2) Place a felt washer on the check-arm pivots at the side of the glove box door--(See illustrations below for more details).

    PRODUCTION EFFECTIVE:

From the end of October, 1989

    From approximate VIN # JT8UF11E-L0010276

  2. in places: combination meter, inside fuel door, Lexus put some words: "Premium unleaded fuel only". i am wondering what kind of premium is that. i am now using A95 gas, the most premium (if most expensive means that) available in my country

should I try the alternative A92 which is less pricy? what octan you guys are using?

have tried A92 one time, i felt a short lag in hard accelerations. is A92 the cause?

  3. driving a nissan bluebird for many years, i never planned to buy a lexus until the day a friend of mine, who buys and sells old cars, introduced the 1990 LS400 to me, i had a week test drive and decided to buy it.

    Why?

    1- Affordable: bought it for US$ 18k

2- buy one get all: the car has almost all things i ever expect for a car: stylish appearance, quietest car, great stereos, tilt/ telescopic steering, leather seats... and many many more that others are only dreaming of

3- durability: first test dride was surprising for a 15 year old car. still as smooth as new, and there is still no signal of getting old

in my opinion, Lexus for suitable for people who drive and enjoy the car by themselves (dont have a driver)

  4. Hello all,

the ex-owner of my 1990 LS400 has changed its original rims from 15"to 16" everthing seems okay except that the speedo meter indicates wrong speed. GPS shows my car running at 100km/h but the speedo meter tells only 80km/h

i guess this is because the rims have been changed to a bigger one with bigger dia. which cause wrong speed calculation

my question is: can i replace the current speed sensor with the one for LS400 93-94 models which use 16" rims?

i dont want to go back to 15" rims that means i need to pay for 4 new rims and tires. also, the new rims make the car look nice actually

    thanks
