  1. I think what the guy is trying to say is that he is getting better throttle respose when his car is cold. i.e: his revs drop off much quicker from a blip of the throttle when he has just started it than when it is warm.

Can't say i've noticed in mine but ill check later.

Thats exactly what I was trying to say. Guess Im not very good at writing what im thinking.

If you could check it would be great. Just seems a bit strange that when cold you can blip the throttle and the revs jump up and down and it sounds awesome, but when warm it sounds a bit, well sh*t, lol.

    Cheers for replies

  2. My idle rpm is the same as everyone elses when warm and cold. I mean the rate of rise and fall of rpm when i use the accelerator. When cold, if i blip the throttle the revs rise quickly then quickly fall back to idle (about 1500 rpm). But after a few minutes when its warmed up, if I do the same, the revs don't rise with the same vigourur, its then takes longer to fall back to idle. Like I said, when cold, it revs and sounds like a sports car, but as soon as its warm its like its got a big heavy flywheel.

Im trying to describe t the best I can, sorry if any one misinterpretted me last time.

    Cheers for the replies

  3. Ive noticed that when I first start my car it revs quickly and the revs drop off nearly instantly when I take my foot off. But after a few seconds when it starts warming up it revs up then the the revs take a few seconds to drop back down. Is it supposed to be like that. Its as if theecu changes when its starts warming up. It just sounds a bit strange when you rev it wen its warm, it makes it sounds like my girl friends old KA,lol. Should I try resetting the ecu? Its going in for its 60000 mile service on thusday so I might wait and see what its like after that.

Hope other peoples cars do the same

    Cheers

  4. Hi guys,

My cigarette lighter socket hasn't worked since I got the car. It was previously a company car and the company had radio phones and gps fitted, so they'd had the centre console apart so I guess this is what caused the problem. They'd also fitted a secondary 12v on a lead that pokes out underneath the dash, so Id been using that till now, but its wired constant live so I always have to remember to unplug any phone charger or anything Ive got plugged in. Ive checked the fuses I can find, but theyre fine. Any ideas, the light around the socket works, but theres no power coming out of it. Are there any connections under te dash that could have been pulled apart.

    Cheers

  5. I went through this earlier in the year. Was offered an IS200 Sport for decent money, but just coulnd't help myself trying to persuade myself to buy some thing cheaper to run..... Anyway, finally disconnect the common sense side of my brain and bought the IS, and havn't regreted it once. Still can't believe I've got a car that I've lusted after for years. Brings a smile to my face every morning when I leave the house and see it, then look around and see buckets of euro boxes like mondeos, golfs, all that stuff, then I jump in the IS and grin all the way to work.

As for the mpg, don't know If I've got a particually frugal one, but the best I've had was around 33, so I thought I see how bad It could be last week,so I brimmed the tank, reset the trip meter, drove like a boy racer, with only bout 70 miles of motorway, and it done just over 250 mile when it hit 1/4 left. So filled it up again, took a note of the litres, and an online calcualtor worked it out as just a shade over 25. Which I was pretty pleased with.

Follow your heart not your brain and buy the IS.

  6. Is this the post you mean

    http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=44845

If so it only says for the bottom loading one.

I found another post from even earlier before I posted, and it just said grey wire, but because I found 2 pins that muted the stereo, I just wanted confirmation on what pin. My mates friend in the trade said that hes tried in the past and ony managed to get distorion on the left side with one of the pins and distorton on the right with the other, But I don't know wether he was thinking we were trying to get the phone through the stereo.

    Thanks

  7. Hi guys,

Fitted a Nokia CK7W Bluetooth kit in my car yesterday with the help of a mate who fits them in police cars. We got everything working (didn't bother trying to put sound through stereo just tucked nokia speaker under the top of the dash.) but couldn't figure out the muting. Mate tested a few pins on the back of the stereo and found 2 that muted the sound but nothing came up on the display. He then rung a friend of his who installs car kits everyday, and he said that he never bothers muting toyota/lexus stereo because they're always hassle.

Has anyone got a definate answer to which wire does it.

My stereo is the top loading one.

    Cheers guys

(PS hansfree is brilliant in such a quiet car like the Lexus)

  8. Also finally got around to sticking the little "sport" sticker on the front of my TTE bumper (been sitting on my desk for months! )

  9. Hi guys,

Im noticing that I've got a bit more tyre wear on the insides on my front tyres compared to the outside, so was thinking of getting my geometry checked. But Im all the way down in south wales and going up to London is a bit of a trek, so was wondering if there was anywhere in south wales or bristol area that any bodies used. Otherwise it may mean a trip to see the Dr. How much does the Dr charge, or do does it change depending how far out the geometry is?

    Cheers Guys

  10. Hi guys,

Want to check my tyre pressures on my car but don't know what they should be as the sticker on the door only does 16s and 17s. Ive got the 18 styling kit wheels with PZero Rossos and do mainly motorway driving. What are the recomened pressures?

Also, I wouldn't mind getting my geometry checked, and wouldn't mind visting the 'Dr' but Im down in south wales and can't afford to go all the way up to him, and also havn't got the time. Are there any recommended places in south wales that do it? Im noticing sligthtly more wear on the inners of my fronts than the outers.

    Cheers guys

  11. Hi guys, Ivbe had my car just over a week, and theres was some fuel in it when I had it, then I put £20 in it, then another 30, so I couldn't really tell how much fuel I was using. So I toppped it up last sunday, reset my trip meter, and done my usual mileage through the week. Now Id read in the manaul that the tank was 70L. So by the time I got to 200 miles, and Id used half a tank I was starting to think thats its gonna cost me a fortune to run (cos Id assumed Id used about 35L). So come saturday afternoon, Id done 345 miles, so I filled it up. I only just managed to squeeze 45 litres in it (the gauge was about half way between 1/4 and E).

So that would mean that they've either lied in the manual, or that theres a huge reserve on it.

PS, I worked out that I'd done 33 mpg (which I was pretty happy with). Have I worked it out right, and is that about average mpg, mainly motorway.

  12. Ive got a sport, but it doesnt appear to have a chrome tip on the exhaust. Just what looks like a normal steel pipe. I could be wrong cos it looks really dirty, but there doesn't seem to be any shine to it. So would that tip on the eBay listing fit on my sport pipe.

    Cheers guys

  13. Hi guys,

Bit of a strange questio about a tow bar. Ive been reading in the owners manaul and it says that a Sport (which I have) cant be fitted with a tow bar. Why is this? Is it because its lowere slightly? Things is I dont wnat to really tow anything, its just my parents have got a boat which they keep on a mooring, so you need a small boat to go out to it. The small boat is kept on a small trailor at the top of a slipway, and can be launched relativly easily by two men (slipway is quite steep, so trying to stop it going down on its own is a bit of a challenge). My dads got a towbar on his car so he can do it on his own, but if I go down with just my girlfriend, its do risky trying to walk down the slipway with the boat on myu own. Some of the other people with boats in the same place, have had tow bars made up, which screw into the thread that a tow eye would screw into, so thats what I was going to do with my car. But when I got the car last week I realised theres a fixed tow eye on the car, and because Ive got the styling kit, its comletely usless for anything.

So was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to do it. Its not for going on the road or anything so dont need lights, its just for lowering down a slipway. Id prefer it if it was on the back, so I get better grip coming up the slipway (slipway gets quite slippery when wet).

Cheers guys and sorry about the long post (hope you can understand it).
