  1. I'm averaging 29 MPG at present. Have noticed the guage does act funny every now and again, but, I don't pay much attention to fuel guage unless the light comes on. I calculate MPG from fill up and trip mileage. Anyway, didn't buy my IS200 sport for good MPG return, I bought it for comfort, fun, looks and reliability. I love my Lexy....

  2. hi there people looks a good site i have a lexus ls400 1990 model with 190000 miles on the clock cost me 850 pounds with six months tax and test

Good to have you on board. Here's to another 190,000 miles mate.

  3. If it hits the rev limiter it should drop a couple of revs and go back up again quickly i.e. bouncing!!

You shouldnt go past the red line anyway though :whistling:

Ta Rikos. I know it is a bit naughty to try and push it up in to the red line area, but a couple of times I've had a prat accelerate on me when overtaking, and just needed that extra pnch for a few seconds to get past and then pull in. Now I know, I feel easier. Think I'll just let the prat undertake me and pull back in to the "SLOW" lane... Hee Hee. :winky:

I think its actually around 6500RPM that the engine will cut out.Its just a safety feature that most engines do now a days to protect it being over revved. I would not recommend this as i believe what happens is the fuel goes unburned and especially if you have a supercharger once the spark has been restored the unburned fuel in the manifold/exhaust then ignites and can cause the CATs to be damaged

Thanks Rod. Don't have a supercharger or any fancy mod's. Must admit, it gives you a bit of a fright when the engine cuts back, but rather that than blowing the engine or damaging other parts. Guess I'll stick to 50MPH from now on and drive with my pipe and slippers.... Hee Hee. :D

  5. Hi Peeps,

Posted this on the Gold Forum but no answers yet. I don't drive my prize IS200 sport posession hard often, but I notice when I get just on to the red Line (around 7000RPM), I can't push through to get an extra few rev's. It just sticks and I have to change gear. Is there a rev limiter or do I have a problem??

  6. Only had my IS200 sport for a couple of months, and I too get the clunking noise. Especially on full lock when reversing. Booked it in to Lexus Aberdeen on Monday, and, hope if they need to fix ball joints or calipers that it'll be done under the warranty. It is a bit annoying... eh!

    Cheers

    Col ;)

sounds like the pads to me, although if its happening whilst turning at slow speeds it could be the ball joints. something which i recently had replaced
  7. well i had amondeo that had done about 100,000 miles and i used it on it. was well impressed. made so much difference. but the next day the engine blew!!!

id probably say if it isnt broke dont fix it!! it clears all the crap out the engine, but sometimes that crap is doing good and sealing gaps!!

OK, I don't think I'll bother then. Last thing I want is to knaker the car I love so much. Ta for the advice.

    Cheers

    Col :)

  8. That's OK... It works out around 28 miles/gallon. Nothing to worry about. If you really want to clean your fuels system right through properly, then buy 10K boost. Normally you can get it in Halfords, but best buy on-line as you can get it cheaper.

    Col :winky:

    i get around 190miles on 30 litres..town driving..that good?
  9. Hi peeps. Guess what, idiot face here kerbed his IS 200!!! I need to get the alloy repaired as it is annoying me. (How stupid am I??). Anyway, I called a a company called "Blasted Alloys" (Van comes to your location). They said that they can't come and fix it because of the Lexus 5 spoke grooved configuration and that they coudn't get the finish?? :crybaby: Told me that the wheel, would have to be sent away. Hmmmm... is this true??? Anyone got any advice on this please.

    Ta a lot...

  10. Hi Vince,

Welcome to LOC. You will get plenty of advice from the peeps here, they are a great bunch. By power loss what do you mean? Have you driven one before that you can make the power loss comparison? Supposed to do 0-60 MPH in around 9 Seconds. What are you experiencing? Are you getting poor petrol consumption (MPG, MPK?). Think we would need some more info before making and educated guess??

Anyway, you've bought a gem of a car.

    Best wishes

    hi all ,

I'm the pride new owner of a lexus Is 200 sport .

    just got a few questions;

*not got a second kay and say i buy one from the net with a boot release button and program the key will it work or is it only master keys that open the boot(i have a master key and a second key with no boot release)

*Also a small spot has been touched up with paint but its not the right colour so is it easy to retouch it up with the right colour with out damaging it?

*Clutch makes a squeeking sound- bites and drives well, hopefully it needs lubracating can i do it my self? Could there be a bigger problem?

  12. Col, if you want to reset your ECU, pop the bonnet, and there's a fuse box located just towards you in fron t of the battery - remove the EFI and ETCS fuses for around a minute and that will reset your ECU for you :)

Good point on the judder being you getting used to the car- try and slip the clutch with higher revs a little bit on starts and that should help, just don't go crazy :)

    Will do... Ta..

Have just registered for LOC gold membership. I find this invaluable.

    Col..

  13. Not sure whether that was sarcastic :shifty: but your welcome

Have a good time at your cruise and make sure the lexus dealers dont charge you if you ask them to reset your ECU as i said you can do this yourself in 2 mins.

Absolutely no sarcasm intended Rikos, genuinely grateful. (I am a virgin Lexus owner).

    Cheers and thanks again..

    Col

  14. 300 bhp from 153 bhp with just a chip if that was the case everyone would be buying them for the IS!!!

As you've not had the car long maybe the judder is just you getting used to the clutch.

I never thought of that... You could be right Rikos. Thanks. It's going into the Lexus dealer to get checked next week.

    Col.......
