  1. I think the point you are all missing is that discounting is the death of good residuals. I am thinking about buying a RX400h but am put off by the Ford-like discounts available. Ford killed the new Jaguar in the US by giving big discounts and ruining residuals. Don't want to see that on Lexus, surely.
  2. Is the 3-4 weeks correct with "drivethedeal" Lexus are quoting 12-14 weeks. Can "drivethedeal" get them quicker? All very odd. Click special offers and every day there are Lexus at £5000 off new list price. By the way, you say 12-14 weeks delivery from dealers; isn't that the normal lead time for factory orders given they have to be shipped over?? That is standard lead time on factory ordered Merc 4x4 which comes from the USA.
  3. Have you tried www.drivethedeal.com ? They seem to be able to get good discount but you'll have to wait a few weeks for delivery.... Jonathan Sadly they are offering £5000 off the list price, which is worrying for those who care about residuals. Why do Lexus supply them at such prices if there is no excess supply??? I am thinkingof buying one, but this is really putting me off. Don't want the Ford problem of endless discounting and lousy residuals.
  4. They claim the car will come from a main Lexus Dealer. UK spec etc. What worries me is why Lexus are selling at £5k off on internet sites. If it is selling well why do this and wreck our residuals. I had hoped that Lexus would avoid this sort of thing. My local dealer has a showroom and servicing that cost £8.5 million. How can he compete with internet sites with no great overheads and hefty discounts, presumably from Lexus direct as my dealer says he does not get the margins that internet guys are offering as discounts. All Drivethedeal is doing is finding a dealer who'll offer the best price - presumably in return for a small referral fee. If you called every lexus dealer and pushed hard I guess you should get a similar price. That could be. Shall I offer £5 to your favourite charity if you find one. The one's I asked say they cannot get anywhere near £5k off the hybrid. That makes me think Lexus is supplying the internet somehow. Not fair to dealers. Horrible for residuals.
  5. did what you are thinking of doing and purchased from main dealer ,had the rx for 10 months and then had to get rid problems are as follows 1 in 4 times for brake issues (pedal sinking to floor) 2 main drive train replaced (clunk noise on overrun) 3 more rattles then a bag of nuts and bolts. 4 front tyres wearing on inner edges. 5 at the time used values were sinking like a stone traded in for IS250 auto great car and not a single problem to date. swager I thought the RX was supposed to be so reliable. Lexus top of JD Power etc. What is the 'corroding alloys' problem please??
