I have read that leaving the keys in the microwave is also effective.
As long as you don't turn it on otherwise sparks might fly!

Hi Tom
I had a Ford Thames 15cwt van as my first vehicle in 1969. Registration NME208. Nicknamed Brian after the snail in the Magic Roundabout. Wonderful memories. Taught me an awful lot about driving and maintenance and repairs. Bought for £60. Did over 100,000 miles in it including 2 round Europe trips. Sold it nearly 5 years later without an MOT for £45. Happy days!!!

I just found this on the US forum which sounds exactly like what happened to our car last week.
https://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/94700-my-fuel-pump-issue-~-rx-450h/
Have sent a copy to Lexus MK for their information.

Thanks Colin. I did check via that site and it came up as no recalls for our car.
However I found this on the US forum which sounds exactly like what happened to our car last week.

Ressurecting this old thread.
Does anyone know why there was a recall to replace the fuel pump in the tank?
Could this be the cause of my problem in the thread I started yesterday regarding misfiring and almost dying completely? (The car that is not me!)

On a short 1.5 mile journey home last Sunday my car (RX450h F Sport Gen 4) suddenly began misfiring very badly accompanied by a multitude of warning lights and dire warning messages (including “Stop as soon as possible within 0.3 miles) on the dashboard.
I pulled into a layby and turned the car off for a few minutes then started it up again. It started OK and the engine idled but the orange engine management light stayed on.
As I was only a few hundred yards from home I pulled away gently but the car very nearly ran out of power as I negotiated a roundabout so I pulled in to the side of the road and turned the engine off again. Tried starting it again and managed to limp home.
Rang Lexus Milton Keynes the next morning and they told me to contact the AA to bring the car in so they could look at it. Because I had to take my wife to hospital for an appointment at lunchtime I couldn't call the AA until mid afternoon. When the AA man arrived in his van he connected up an OBD scanner and it came up with a number of errors including
P0202 Injection valve cylinder 2 Component open
P0204 Injection valve cylinder 4 Component open
P0206 Injection valve cylinder 6 Component open
P1235 Fuel high pressure pump circuit defective
P3190 Engine Engine power too low
The AA man said he couldn't tow the car to the dealers and would have to arrange for a flat bed truck to do the job. He couldn't guarantee the truck would get to me in time to get to Lexus before they closed so it was arranged for the following morning.
Tuesday morning the truck arrived and the car and I were taken to Lexus MK where they have been trying to diagnose the problem since then but have not found the cause yet.
Has anyone had any similar problems and if so what was the solution? Any ideas or answers would be greatly appreciated as we would love to get our RX back soon.
Kind regards
JBP
PS The only up side is that I have been loaned a UX300e fully electric car in the interim which makes for an interesting comparison.

Just for fun I thought I would look up our previous RX400h cars.
First one GP05DMU still going strong with respectable mileage at last MOT of 168239 but more impressive was our second one FL09HUZ at 227011 miles.
Does anyone on this forum own either of these?
Got a long way to go with our present Gen4 450h at only 35000!!!

@Spock66 dont really need them now, only done 6k from new. But the cc2’s are great and i get a bit nervous on summer tyres when i’m in snow. Dont see the point of spending a ton of cash on the car only to drop it for approx £900 worth of rubber.
In other news, Michelin have just come back to me. The cc2 in that size is expected back in stock in Feb 2024. Looks like i’ll wait until then and take my crv out when it snows.
Funnily enough I have just picked up my RX after it's service at MK Lexus and while I was there I enquired if they could get the CC2 tyres. When Andrew checked he was told they would not be available until 1st Feb 2024 so hope it doesn't snow until then. 😜

When I put my summer ones back on, I need 2 new replacements for the Bridgestone Duellers, which are ok in the summer.
Question is do I replace the 2 with the same or should I replace all 4 with continental or Michelins?
Hi Dan
I have sent you a PM about tyres.
Cheers

Just had to renew the insurance on our Gen4 RX F Sport. Was dreading getting the renewal notice as I knew insurance prices had gone up generally and some companies were not even quoting. Best quote I got from Confused was £755. However I was pleasantly surprised that, as a member of the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists), this year's quote through their scheme was £548. (Last year's was £394.)
It is well worth considering taking the advanced driving test. It has saved £££ over the years.

I emailed cr@lexus.co.uk in the evening of 2 August. On 4 August I had a phone call from Lexus Milton Keynes asking me to book my car in to have the canbus protection fitted. I arranged for it to be done on 10 August and it was done free of charge and the car washed and valeted into the bargain. Apparently mine was the first they had done so it was a bit of a learning curve for them.
Well done Lexus MK. Great service as usual!

Head wind on the way down and tail wind on the way back? Can make a surprising difference to MPG.

Such sad news. Condolences to all his family.
Although I never met John I feel he was a true friend. I will miss John's knowledge, patience and wit. Hope he has taken his handbook with him.
RIP John

Also it looks like National Tyres are doing a "Payment Assist" with no interest spread over 4 or 12 months.

As a wise man once said, "You should never drive where your eyes and your brain haven't been first." Meaning that if you can't see within your reaction and stopping distance you should slow down. This doesn't just apply to night driving - it includes bends, hill summits, obstructions, etc.

According to Black Circles Michelin do a Cross Climate 2 SUV tyre in 255/50/Y20 which according to Tyre Size Comparison site would give almost exactly the same rolling diameter as 235/55/20 tyres.
Would there be a clearance problem with the extra 20mm width (only 10mm each side of the rim)?
-
No. The only major pass was the Kirkstone Pass.

I have been waiting and looking as well and have just found this on Michelin's website.
https://www.michelin.co.uk/auto/tyres/michelin-crossclimate-2?tyreSize=20
They seem to be labelled as a "new" line.
Here's hoping.
