Not any more, ran out after 3 years

I have a 2004 LS430 and the nav screen started cutting out. Lexus dealer says the unit is faulty and needs to be replaced. New unit will cost €7,900 and refurb unit is €3890. not cheap. I can get a second hand unit in USA for $800 but i do not know if it will be compatible. Anyone got any ideas.
