  1. Hi Yeah I know what you mean, I looked into the "tyre" thing long and hard and came to the conclusion that the tyres that Dunlop had designed specifically for the 430 would be the way to go, they are quiet, the correct rating, still available and not that expensive. I would still stand by the decisions I made if it wasn't for the fact that these cars seem to "eat" tyres, they scrub the edges off the front and grind down the rears... The Dunlop’s I have on the front are excellent and I'm real pleased with them, they are just what I thought they would be... However with hindsight I may have opted for a cheaper tyre or one that lasted longer and put up with some road noise, I think the Maxxis it had when I bought it were just too cheap and the noise was excessive, but there must be something in between. So I am sorry to have led you down this path, the Dunlop’s are excellent tyres but are they good value? Of course it could be the way I drive, I don't hang around, what’s the point of nearly 300bhp if you are not going to use it, and now its on LPG its cheap enough to play now and again... Pete
  2. After much studying of this impressive members site finally took the plunge and purchased my March 2004 Ls 430 last November, from Lexus Newcastle. If I had then realised how petrol prices and road tax costs were escalating for this class of car I would probably have hassled more..........but at the time I thought that £22495 (around 38% of its original cost) was not too bad a price to pay for a one-owner 15000 ml Ls 430 with complete lexus service history/mileage verification + five new tyres, 2007 updated navi dvd, newly serviced/mot`d, and with 12 mos warranty........totally unmarked and immaculate in Amberley Gold with cream Connaught leather...........and, slightly unusually I believe, with light brown dash, very complimentary to the gold and cream (seen others with grey coloured dash, not so attractive IMHO). Having since covered 5000 ml I agree that it really is the fabulous car its supposed to be, making very light work of our recent 1400 ml journey down to the Algarve, from Sussex. Managing to achieve an overall 27mpg down here (much quieter roads than UK, and more 55mph than 30mph local speed limits help a lot) but am still considering possibility of having Prins lpg system installed, after lexus warranty expires in November............although I am still keeping a very open mind about this, while continuing to research the subject (got plenty of time to do this now as I retired aged 65 last February). So I am very keen to follow the experiences of the several other Ls 430 owners on here that I know are already running on lpg. Thanks to all of you whose posts have contributed so much to my first six months of lexus ownership.
