  1. Shorty - lovin that S1 RST - White Hot! I had those same wheels on a Mk4 1.6 GL, then a Mk7 1.6 Si, I thought I was the nuts! Seriously though, if they aren't too pitted they look great. Personally I prefer the original RS '7's, but that motor looks really nice.
  2. Thanks for the comments. My plummer was less than that, they are selling them direct on eBay, I think it was around £40. Mine is leatherette, rather than real leather, but the dash isn't leather so I don't think it matters.
  3. Hey, I was only winding you up! Pics attached, albeit pretty lousy ones because of the glare. Who knew Sheffield could be so sunny! Note the wire to the cassette adaptor, this is hopefully to be replaced soon with a proper Aux-in adaptor.
  4. My E65 doesn't have a Nokia cradle either, which is why I had to get the Brodit cradle, which is specifically designed for the E65. As for "wires draped everywhere" I take a little offence at that. Please see the photos once I have gotten around to taking them.
  5. If anyone has a pic of the back of a late model headunit, I might. But I want to confirm that it is the right one for my car first. I found out with a Dension kit for the Honda that US models sometimes have different connections, despite coming from the same factory.
  6. It worked! It was the accelerator / brake method. Turns out 80 sec is a long time. The way you know it has worked is that the SECURITY light, which flashes around every 1.5sec stops flashing.
  7. Sorry to dredge up an old post, but I can't get this to work. I am assuming that as mine is a 2004 car I should use the later method, though I have also tried the earlier one without success. I don't have a "THEFT" light, I have a "SECURITY" one though, and it isn't interested in coming on solid unless I set the alarm. Otherwise it just flashes, slowly. Could someone confirm which method I should be using, and make a suggestion as to what I might be doing wrong? Thanks!
  8. I have just fitted a Nokia CK-15W bluetooth phone kit, with remote display, a Brodit active cradle for my Nokia E65. I used a Plummer phone mount, and an Autoleads 06-913B. This connects at the amp. At the same time I fitted a Harmon Kardon Drive / Play for my iPod, connected using an antenna adaptor, and also a cassette adaptor - sounds awful, but it sounds pretty good, and seems to be the best option for an input into the head unit. To keep the wiring as hidden as possible, I also fitted a second cigar lighter to power the active phone cradle. As the 06-913B takes it's ignition sense from the cigar lighter, I extended the 06-913B to power the Drive / Play and the second power outlet. Touch wood, it has all gone without any problems. If anyone is undertaking anything similar, and wants any help, please just ask. FYI the 06-913B mutes the stereo and uses the front speakers fopr the phone, however there is no facility that I am aware of that will actually display "Phone" on the screen, or mute the CD, etc.
  9. Thanks for the warm welcome, I am near Wakefield. Still loving the car, a little disappointed with the fuel economy if I am honest, best was 28mpg, driving like a grandma! Just fitted my phone kit and drive/play for the iPod. Based upon how it performs in the drive, I am delighted, hopefully I will still be just as happy once I have shaken it down a bit. Look forward to hearing more from you all in the various forums.
  10. Anyone come across a supplier of good quality rubber mats that might actually fit the old shape IS? I have got some universal fit ones that you cut to shape, but they are pretty poor TBH. Any ideas? Thanks!
  11. Hi, just wanted to introduce myself, I collected my IS300 last week, and thus far am really pleased with it. In the past I have had a 2001 2.5 Mondeo and was quite an active member of www.fordmondeo.org, that car went about a year ago, since then I have been running a 1993 BMW E30 318i Touring, which has been replaced by the Lexus. I have already asked a few relatively inane questions about the car, and have found people to be really helpful. Look forward to hearing from more of you in the not too distant future. Thanks for your time, FB
  12. Hi, I collected my IS300 earlier this week, and it came with 1 Master ket and 1 Valet key. Now from what I understand, if I loose the Master, I am screwed in terms of getting another cut. With this in mind, it would seem sensible to get an additional, spare master key. Seems like a good idea until you pop into Leeds Lexus and they suggest around £180 for a new key. So, what is the best route to get a new key? There are obviously loads of eBay sellers selling the shells and blades, but I guess it is the electronics that are the expensive bit. Are they the same as any widely available European Toyota's, such as the Avensis, which appears to use a similar key head? Any other ideas? Thanks for your help!
  13. Can anyone help me with this? I understand it is a bit of a bugger to remove the plug from the amp, but I understand that this is where the wiring loom for the car kit would intercept the stereo, speakers, power, etc. Has anyone got a pic of this plug, so I can make sure I get the right loom? Thanks!
  14. I have a very minor, but slightly annoying tis type vibration from my instrument cluster, anyone got any ideas on how to sort it? Thanks
  15. Hi, I collected my '04 IS300 on Tuesday, and am loving it, did around 250 miles in it today, and compared to the '93 BMW E30 318i Touring that preceeded it, it is a monster! I am fitting a car kit and a HK Drive / Play over the next week or so. I have found the info on removing the stereo, climate, top tray, etc. but need to know how to take the centre console apart - I think the button for the phone will probably go on the back of the auto shifter plate, and would like the wiring to be as hidden as possible, so any advice would be very useful. I was also wondering if anyone knows what wiring loom I need to run the phone audio through the car speakers? I have the amplified system, would the wiring loom be the same as for a GS model? I have looked at www.dashmount.co.uk, but that refers to a car with a Mark Levinson system, which I didn't think was offered on the IS? Any ideas? Thanks for your help!
