  1. Hi, This is normal. My 2000 model mk 1 has done it since it was converted 4 years ago. The petrol gauge does not read the fuel level in the petrol tank all the time, the ECU calculates the amount of petrol left in the tank by how much its trying to inject via petrol injectors. The cars ECU does not know its running on LPG. The LPG system ECU interrupts the signals to the petrol injectors (to stop petrol being used)and uses the LPG injectors instead.

  3. Greetings, I've recently acquired (eBay) a head unit from a IS200 :D (manufactured 1999) to fit into my 99 Tezza as the poor quality radio recption using an expander is driving me nuts! :duh: Upon trying to fit it I find the connectors are different. :shutit: Lexus Leicester have advised that the plugs are only available along with the rest of the wiring loom and suggest trying to find a scrapped IS200. ICS (audio/security installers) can't get the plugs either, but will wire it in if I can source the plugs. Anyone any idea's where I might track down these plugs (preferably with wires attched). No TV or navsat is fitted it's just to operate the cd/radio. The photo shows the rear of the head unit showing the plug sockets. Rear of Headunit Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Keys

It is/was my understanding that most used Jap imports don't have security systems ie alarms, immobilisers and chipped keys as standard (very little car crime in Japan?) - This is why the insurance companies insist on new cat 1 alarms being fitted. My Pajero was the same. Are Security systems options in Japan? I own a AS200 is the RS200 ignition system different? In my case the key was not chipped and, therefore, a standard Toyota unchipped blank was used and copied from my original on a laser cutter. Took about 2 mins to cut it! The Locksmith I used was Morgan's, 575 Saffron Lane, Leicester LE2 6UN - Tel 0116 244 0338. I would think any locksmith that cuts car keys should be able to do the job. Hope this helps............

    Keys

I have a 1999 AS200 and got a key cut at my local locksmiths for under a tenner. The ignition system is not chipped and the alarm system fitted to keep the insurance company happy operates the remote central locking, so the new key didn't need to have the remote control, therefore, a normal Toyota blank was used and the key was cut by copying the original. I did contact Lexus of Leicester for a new key and they had no problem in obtaining one for me but said it would take a week or so to arrive! Hope this helps......
  6. Direct Line Insurance need certificated proof that an approved alarm is fitted and I was advised that you only get a certificate with the full cat 1 alarm system. I assume the airbag problem is due to the wiring being disturbed behind the dash. I suppose I really should return it to the company that installed the alarm and insist they sort it out, especially as it cost me the best part of 300 quid. I was just hoping that there was an easy/quick/cheap fix.... Batch
  7. Greetings, Bought my first Altezza last week after going out to swap my Pajero for a newer one ! And as usual on Japanese imports my insurance wouldn't cover it for theft without a cat 1 alarm fitted. The alarm was fitted but since then the airbag warning light has stayed on. The security firm reckon it may reset in a few days on its own. I'm not so sure. Anyone any idea if it will reset on its own, or if I can reset it or is it a Lexus dealership Job. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Great site by the way. Thanks.
