  1. So after 6 years away from Lexus I think I am about to come back to the marque. I am looking for 2-3 year old F- Sport ideally based solely on looks. What I want is the full leather with the MK sound system. I had both in my 2008 IS 220D SE-L which I loved. This spec is quite hard to come by though. As a result I am then drawn by the Premier which has the lot but does not look quite as sharp as the F-Sport.

I have also noticed that despite a price delta of £4K that the Premier commands new over the F-Sport, Premiers can be had for similar money. Does this mean the the Premier is not as popular and thus depreciates faster or am I missing something? Really not sure what to do.

  2. Whilst using the handsfree facility for calls and whilst also using the sat nav, when I switch between the telephone screen and the sat nav screen, I am unable to hear or speak on the handsfree whilst the sat nav tells me the next turn etc. This annoying telephone silence lasts for about 5/10 seconds. Anyone have the same experience and/or know how it can be avoided?

    Cheers

Whilst in phone mode push the info button twice. This will take you back to the nav screen without the voice buttin in. Hope that helps.

  3. Well I knew the day would come when me and my Lexus would part. It is hard to believe that nearly three years has past since I first vistited these forums all excited about my knew car. On the whole my Lexus IS220D se-l Nav/srf was a great car and my first premium car with as many toys as I could ever wish for. From my experience the 220d gets a bad wrap for nothing. Yes the gearing was not perfect and yes the MPG was not the best in class. ( I got 39.7 over the 3 years I had it). Overall I was very happy.#

I have now purchased a new Mercedes E-class Coupe E350 AMG Sport. I have checked most of thee boxes to get to the level of toys that I am used to. I had a loan car from them on Friday past and did a normal work type trip to which my Lexus was used to. It managed 46.8 over 148 miles and lets say I had some fun with it to. It only had 700 miles on the clock. I have opted to do a personal collection from the factory in Bremen so that should be special.

Anyway thanks to all those who have posted on here over the years and given advice etc, it has been a great place of learning and good fun at times.

  4. Nice one mate, I love those new E-class coupes and the 350 gives you a great compromise between power and economy.

Is it one of the blueefficiency ones though? I heard they have a problem where the transmission disengages when stationary, and the slight lag can be frightening when trying to make a quick getaway from a junction. Has that been sorted now then?

Oh, I did not pick aanything like that up on the one that I had but will watch this space so to speak. Only lag I can report is the one were my head does not keep up with the car when I plant my right foot down. LOL.

Thanks for ur advice.. i shall ring up lexus and get this checked out.. thanks again.

Mate I may hve a fix for you! I have been haaving the same problem. Mine to only happened in second gear and only when I put my foot down. I had the car in for service recently (30K) but forgot to mention it to them as it was not a common occurance. A week later is was getting a bit worse and was working on my tits so I gave the service desk at Twickenham a call.

What I was told that if you drive your car a lot a motoreway speeds and just cruise in sixth the whole time that a build up of carbon or the like builds up in the cat and blocks some valve that opens when full throttle is engaged. In fairness that is my driving style most of the time. I usally drive under 2000 rev once on a open road or even around town.

What I was advised to do was to work the engine over a 30-40 mile stretch. I was 60 miles from home when I placed the call to Lexus and would use the M25 to get home. I heeded his advice and drove home at 75-80 in forth which resulted in a rev range of 3-4k all the way home. What this does is heat the cat up to a temp that breaks down the deposits and the are sent out the back.

Since that day my problem has completly disappered and I now can rev away with no trouble at all. I hope this works for you... good luck..

  7. Just noticed that one of the plastic pop up covers from the headlamp washers has disappeared. At first I thought it had been pinched but there is no damage or any marks on the bumper, and everything works OK except that the jet sprays in the wrong direction as the cover deflected the water back towards the headlamp.

I was wondering if you can just buy the plastic part and it just clips on or whether you need whole new unit and have it fitted at a garage.

Mate I am quite sure being a Lexus they will most likely quote you to replace the whole front end of the car..... LOL :whistling:

  8. Hey all..

Either I'm imagining things or going just going plain mad....should these light up?

Between the seat heaters controls the little image of the seat with the fan?

And also on the cd slot is there meant to be a light that is constantly on illuminating the cd slot apart from the ones on the sides for when you hit load....

If anyone is able to check for me that would be great as I'm sure they lit up at one point!

    Cheers. H

Just checked. No the image of the seat between the dials does not light up, nor is there any light illuminating the cd slot. At least you now know that you are not going mad. :shifty:

  9. Tried a DVD, the picture plays but still no sound, and no response from use of the actual volume controls

hopefully i'll get my car back soon and have my music back, as the antenna isn't givin the best radio reception either lol, everythin else about the car I like

I had that problem in my IS250 from new. After a lot of searching Lexus found the problem to be a faulty fibre optic cable between the device in the boot and the radio unit in the facia.

Now that sounds like a perfect explanation as the DD5.1 soundtrack would only be optical or a coaxial cable. But not sure way the screen visual would effected. Maybe because no sound output is been sent. Who knows.....

  10. when I put a cd into the stereo it plays but theres no volume just the track details and the time, and when I turn the volume knob or press the steering wheel volume controls nothing comes up on the screen where the volume level should?

the volume for the radio is fine tho

is there somethin i'm not doin?

I see from your profile that you have an IS200. Is this still the case as this forum is for the newer IS owners. I am unsure what audio system the older car has so will be unable to assist.

  11. Is there a "night mode" for use with the multimedia display? Using the map navigation screen whilst driving at night is very bright. Nearly all other in-car sat nav devices that I have used have automatically dimmed or used darker colours at night. Have looked through the user manual but have been unable to find anything mentioned about night driving and the display.

Hi there. This topic has been addressed before many times. Conduct a search and you will find the answer. But in short there is a night mode.

  12. Just to let you all know that the 2009/10 (E12) SatNav DVDs are now available from www.lexus-mapupdates.eu - mine were delivered this morning and I'll install them when I get home. I'm selling my old (2008/09 E11) DVDs in the Buy/Sell area of the forum.

Could you please let us know if any more changes have been made to functions that can be used whilst driving. Thank you in advance.

  13. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem. I have a 220d 56plate. When the car is started from a cold start the revs seem to be at 1200 as long as the fans are on. This is nothing to do with the AC as the problem occurs all the time with when the fans are on. Once the car is warm the revs go down to 800rpm which seems normal at standstill. Once the car is warm after say 10mins driving this problem stops happenning.

Mine is the same. I dont like it either. It only happens if I use the A/c or turn the fan on within the first 10 mins. I have also noticed that this feature in not active during the summer months when the outside temps are higher. I suppose just one of those things.

  14. Had this problem a couple of times in the last 2 weeks - both times in very hot weather:

Got in the car, drove off with the radio turned on and playing normally. Suddenly, the radio goes off on it own (the MM display shows 'Audio Off'). Then all 6 CDs in the CD changer eject themselves, one after another. Any ideas? And why would it only happen in hot weather or is that a coincidence?

Not had all 6 eject but today the MM went to "Audio Off" and ejected the CD I was playing at the time - it wasn't particularly hot though. Not good.

Just happened again today... took the CD it ejected out and it tried to spew out the next one... is anyone else seeing this?

I suspect your car does not like your taste in music...... lol... :winky:

  15. Hey Guys

I recently got a new Nokia E71 phone. On this phone I can use my Skype account to make free calls to other Skype users as you would on your pc etc. Only issue I am having is with the Bluetooth. Making normal calls works fine, however once I make one skype call from the phone the second call will not pick up on Bluetooth. The first Skype call from when the car was last started always works fine but the second and so on never does. Normal mobile calls etc work fine all the time.

Only once I restart the MM system/car will the skype work again but only for the first call.

Does anybody else have a 3 mobile with Skype on and have a similar issue. I know these phones are quite new but just thought somebody may have one. I am unsure if it is the MM system or the phone. Thx in advance

  16. I own a 12 month old IS220D with the full multimedia package including reversing camera, satnav etc... the dvd player will play mp4,s vcds etc.... will also play original dvd movies, however it will only play a specific region of discs, is there anyway to remove the region code and make it multiregion?

    Thanks

The region coding is set on the player but you could get Software called Anydvd which removes the coding info from the disc. You would then burn the info onto a disc and then watch your movie.

Thanks for that but would mean copying all the movies, is there any way of removing the region coding like you can do on home dvd players?

    thanks

Not that I am aware of!

  18. Where shall I start,

The 'driver' leather seat covering only, was replaced as it was 'sagging' ....

after i got the car back the heated/cooled seat worked fine but the passenger side heated seat only doesnt work ( the cooling system works as normal for the passenger side)

Lexus then replaced the parts of the heating elements on the passenger side however whenever i use it its takes atleast 10minutes to work...but sometimes i just think its my body heating it up because doesnt feel so where as good as the driver side.... where as on the driver side you can feel the heat within a 1min of starting, whereas the passenger side nothing...

lexus mentioned that they replaced the parts and it works however its not working as before, as before it used to heat up as fast as the driver side...but this doesnt seem to be a problem for them, they claim it works after a long period...and they admit its a longer period that the driver side but doesnt see it as a problem...but i do.

so my question, if someone can find out for me

In the morning, how long does your passenger seat take to warm up?

is the heating of the passenger seat related to waiting for the engine to warm up? cause even on cold mornings, flicking the heated seat on the driver side and it heats straightaway.

all fuses have been checked, ventilator works fine on both sides and the light on the switch works as normal. i.e red on head and blue on cooling

Does not sound right to me mate. My seats are up and running in 1 min if that. The heat though is not as good as in my VW Golf I had a few years back.
