  1. Hi all,

I need a NSF (passenger side front) wing in Black for my IS200.

If anyone has a spare in decent condition please let me know and I will take it off your hands...

I'm still recovering from the mess a third party made of my IS200 when they were driving without paying attention...

Mods - if I have posted this in trhe wrong place please forgve me and move it to the correct area.

    Many thanks

    Abbas

  2. Does anyone have any info on how to disconnect/reconnect the Passenger seatbelt warning system? I bought an IS recently and the passenger seatbelt indicator in the centre console doesn't seem to be working... My immediate reaction is that maybe its simply been disconnected by the previous owner - and was hoping to look into that before starting down the more intensive troubleshooting that could involve taking apart the centre console unit to find out why the light is not illuminating..

    Thanks in advance.

Mine was also like this when I bought the car - thought it was a bonus really!

  3. I also had noises coming from the sunroof they became more noticeable after lowering the car everytime i hit a bump or uneven surface I would hear sounds from the sunroof. I ended up removing all the plastic trim on the inside of the sunroof and that seemed to eliminated most of the noises. Planning on putting it back at some stage with some material between pieces to stop any further noise.

The 4 plastic peices have lots of clips holding them in place I used a flat head screwdriver with tape on the tip and very carefully removed them.

  4. How's goin lads. Recently i bought 01 IS 200 in A/T( 3 months ago ). After few weeks car got a little bit smokey. Previous owner told me that he just changed oil to 10W40 gulf ? or something like that. I bought 5 litres of Castrol 15W40 GTX High Mileage oil as the car just hit 120k miles and after consulting with a friend he told not to go for for that oil. I chose it because car was, what i think abused before i got it. What u think guys ?

PS sorry for my english :> Regards

Most ppl are using 5w 30 fully synthetic i think...but if it has been abused then you may want some advise off someone like oilman from opie olis.

I have 150k + on mine and always used amsoil or silkolene pro (think it may have been renamed now)

  5. Anyone know how to remove the sat nav controls that sit next to the handbrake?

My guess would be that it would just pull out but not entirely confident about this and dont want to break it.

Also, what would go in its place?

    Thanks

If its this one you have, then i am sure there is 3 screws that were located underneath that you unscrew and the units will come out.

And I fitted a cup holder with a lid in its place like mentioned by Parthiban

If its the later style controls then I have no idea but you could try http://www.bahamutcars.com/workshop/IS_98-05/

  6. Get the car onto a diagnostic reader- without doing that its guesswork as to what the problem is. Post the code generated by the diagnostic reader up on here, there are people on here who can tell you what the problem is exactly.

Does the car drive sluggish? From what you are describing, you have at least one failed coilpack.

Had it on a diagnostics reader this morning and indeed you are correct Kam05, there is a coil pack gone. I have one on order so limping along for the next 3 days.

Will let you know if this resolves the issue

    Thanks

I would advise you not to drive the car until you change the coil pack. Cant be good for the cat...

  7. Hi guys,

we (Mrs + a 4 yrs old boy and my IS200) are going to a short break in France + Brussels over the Easter break.

Just wondering if there is anything special I should carry or bring with us apart from Credit cards?

I am 100% confident with the car, only worry if I can drive for that long...... he he he

    Felix

As far as I can remember...

    • Must Have:
    • Warning Triangle
    • Hi-vis
      Advisable:
    • First aid kit
    • Green card(for insurance)
    • Spare bulbs

Your headlights will dazzle on coming drivers so you can use beam deflectors

    And enjoy your trip!!!

  8. That's interesting. I couldn't see a switch either - does anyboby know what switches the boot light on?

Not sure on the details but the switch is in the boot lock, when it's open light comes on, when it's closed, light switches off :)

isee 2wires to boot latch,,, the latch works off remote fine,,, so unsure how it works,, or what feed ishould have there

have check fuse seem ok,,, so stuck,, any 1 got wiring diagram

    have you tried here:

  9. any thoughts, anyone?

    Hi,

I have a problem that sounds very similar if not the same. Sometimes if I go over a big bump whilst turning left I hear like a "tho-ing" sound from the front drivers side!

I have checked ball joints upper & lower for play, arb drop links (new ones fitted with TRD arbs), springs for damage and if seated correctly and everything else around that area.

I also changed shocks about 10 months ago with TTE lowering springs.

I am now exploring stuff like dodgy shock, bonnet play, mounts and any bushes for the shocks. As it only happens every now and again and I don’t use my car all the time it’s not been a major issue. Although when it does happen it sounds really serious!

Would love to get to the bottom of it and will let you know if I locate the problem.

  10. hi,, iam new to lexus,,, so bear with me,, my boot lamp doest work,,, have changed bulb,,, does any one no where the switch is, or how it works,, many thanks

Welcome to the world of Lexus & LOC! There is no switch, it comes on when the boot lid is opened.

Thats if you are talking about the small 501 bulb that sits in the basket inside the boot?

  11. Without being funny, how is a question regarding fitting a non OEM part to an '06 IS220d engine induction system incorrectly placed in the Lexus Models | Lexus IS250/Lexus IS220D/LexusIS250C | Modifications & Tuning section?

Sorry let me explain, its my post in the wrong section... So I edited it to say sorry wrong section.

Hope you get a reply soon...

  12. the fact the earlier cars were 10mm higher makes no difference, the spring is what makes the difference a car with 50mm springs and a car with 40mm springs, when both lowered by 30mm springs, will both be at the same height.............30mm

I agree both cars would be at the same height after both being lowered by 30mm springs.

Surely the car that previously had 50mm springs has dropped a further 10mm? Making the drop 40mm when compared to previous height?

Nope it will still be the same distance from the floor......John there are a few pics of mine after being lowered on TTEs Here, make sure you get your geo done once they have been fitted aswell :winky:........If i remember right i paid about £110

Its not the distance from the floor I was talking about, its the bigger reduction in height after lowering with the earlier IS. Anyway good point about the geo, I was advised 500 miles for springs to settle then get it done!

  14. Yes they were TTE springs bought from Lexus paid £150 inc VAT and delivered. Part number was the same as Parthiban quoted above.

It was a good drop like I said the pics were not the best to show it...The car now, after springs have had time to settle look more like Chris.s had on the red IS shown above.

I was really pleased at the new look and stance of the car and it was so much more fun to drive.

  15. Not the best pics but all I can find for now...

    Before:

    and after:

    dsc00373res3.jpg

looking at the car now nearly ten months later it has become a little more lower...especially the rear!

@Asi - I always thought I got a 50mm drop as the new springs measured 50mm taller than the old ones, I assumed as I had an earlier version (1999) they sat a lil higher. I may be wrong? Shocks were fine tbh but I still replaced for new after all the work to take off the springs would be silly not too...
