  1. Hi Steve.

Simply because the real cost of a project like this is closer to £8K

    Cheers

    James

Never the less, its been great, and Phill is gonna have a totally unique car because Im 100% sure nobody else will do this project.

    Why ?

That comes across as kinda negative but surely you don't mean it like that ?

  2. Hi Guys.

Firstly I would like to appologise for not being online for what seems like ever. The work that has gone into this project has been insane, Ive lost tabs of whats we have modded/changed.

We would like to have finished it now and had Phill driving it home but simply it aint possible. Heres why.

We have had to put it together like a jigsaw, but a jigsaw that can only be constructed in 1 particular order to this end you have no odea how many times the engine has been in and out :whistling:

Dont get me wrong, I knew we were doing this project at a loss as a display of our skills, I just didnt know how many of our skills this would draw on.

Never the less, its been great, and Phill is gonna have a totally unique car because Im 100% sure nobody else will do this project.

The way we have built it means its as easier to service and maintain than the original setup.

Once again sorry for the delays, and bear with us a bit longer.

Now im off to read all the pm's I havnt seen yet.

  3. Yep matt your 100% right however for 300 hp on a 3sgte this manifold will be more than adequate its not as flat as it looks in the pic there is a sizable deflection but nothing like we would make for a big power engine using velocity stacks etc, there is also a budget to keep an eye on.

Cheers for all the comments ist good to see so much interest in the project.

On a seperate note Feltham propshafts are not as good as I was informed, They have delayed us saying the prop is joined using a spun weld technique which makes it more tricky to extend it and cant tell us yet when we will get a full description on how it will be resolved but promised us a call back this week. I was under the impression most modern day props are joined with that technique and that they should experience these things being as they are pro's in their field. I will give them the benefit of doubt untill the end of the week.

  4. lol you guys!

The intercooler itself is stronger than the crach bar lol!!..

We wont be using the stock unit, but once we have put everything back we need a heavy duty one will be made to fit. The bar you see there is a fairly rough construction to simple hold the weight of the intercooler, its not visible with the bumper back on.

There are some things that cant be done untill all the minor bits are finished, the 3s wiring harness is complete and the engine could be started, once that happens we can start feeding the IS ecu the bits it wants. Untill this is done there will be lots of bits out of place.

Will be harrassing the prop modders monday about getting that back

  5. Looking sexy!!

What are the pipe connectors under the inlet manifold for? Sorry to sound thick!!

Very neat welds I may add (manifold and gearbox), I tried welding ally once it melted like butter, not a good result.

Boosted cars use vacume and pressure signals to various sensors that get sent to the ecu and in turn the ecu can manage the engine efficiently.

    On your car we need

    Brake vacume

    Boost to map sensor

    Boost to gauge

    Boost to fuel pressure regulator

    Boost to dump valve

    Boss for air temp sensor

each one of yours have been turned on a small lathe and welded on.

  6. Just lots of small things that the car needs to bring it up to a decent standard, not really worth going into here, every job takes time though.

The lads have really had their work cut out for them, when you see the car in the flesh all the "small" things like getting the starter in and it not fowling the oil line to/from the turbo or being to close and getting cooked, (the starter wanted to be be in the exact same place as the oil line directly under the normal turbo positioning) you really appreciate how hard the job is. Their solutions to the problems all highlighted early on are quite clever, really must be seen. Can't wait for a drive.

    Hey guys,

    Have a look here

Its coming together very well now sory for the delays, there have been some unexpected hoops to jump through but we are on the home run now.

  7. Hi Guys.

Ok we have made great progress.

Here are just a few thing we have been up to.

    Modfying coolant housings

    Modifying aircon pipework

Finishing build of engine and install

    Made custom engine wrining harness

Modifying fuel system to accept a return line

Things we have outsourced that we are still waiting for.

-Most costly one is the custom intake manifold

    -Prop shaft

    -Bell housing mdification

There will be some more pics towards the end of the week, then nothing untill we have a finished product, iin a word its going to be simply fantastic.

Currently we are negociating some very complicated wiring which is taking up alot of time but a nice challenge.

  8. Hi guys here is a sneak preview of how we are getting on, its been very demanding and testing our skills, there will a delay whilst we wait for parts contracted to other companies but the bulk of the work is done and most importantly to a very high standard.

I havnt been online much with the workload will try to get on a bit more as we start to peice the last bits of the jigsaw together.

  9. Evening chaps.

There is a wealth of differences between the number of 3s engines, the rev3 3sgte is far more tuneable than the others due to its head/cams/sump design. The 3sgte is a far stonger package than the others too mainly due to the rods that can hold upto 500hp, sourcing tuning parts for the 3sgte is easier too for example clutches for power. The 3sgte has had many years of tunig behind it and a wealth of resources. Turboing the tezza is good if 300bhp is your ending point, installing the 3sgte will start with 300bhp and the sky is the limit.

    HTH.

    James

Oh yeah we put a dummy engine in situ today to check if my measurements with regard to the position of the gearbox were correct, now im not usually big headed :whistling: but I got it bang on with only a 5mm to play so that the sump sits of the power steering and subframe properly whilst not clashing with the antiroll bar :shifty:

We were looking into wiring diagrams today and overcoming issues related to the security system and transponder, its quite a complex little gem.

Modifying the aircon system is also nearly done.

    Cheers

  10. Hi all, its about a year since I was on the forum,.

Had some Quotes to have my Cam belt change including the tensioner, At £407 and with the idler pulleys £692, “Now” is it necessary to have the idlers replaced on my 1996 LS400 122000 miles.

Your thoughts on this matter please.

    Regards Syd

This should be a decission made by the garage, I always remove them and give them a spin to see if they move smoothly and without noise. If it needs changing I change it.

    James

  11. hi ,hello to all.ive recently purchased a 98 altezza with the 3sg beams engine with a knocking bottom end,ive removed engine and gona rebuild it rather than replace it with a second hand motor,my question is can anyone tell me where i could source bottom end bearings forit

:tomato: On the back of your car there is a badge from a company who made the car, research them on the web, find a local one, measure up, give them a call and order correct size

  12. Oops, I do expect you to invoice me for the T/C system install!!!! it is my addition after all.

Exhaust manifold measured up and sent away for making

    Bottom end built

    Intercooler dummy fitted

    Gearbox modified

    Prop measured for modding.

The company modding the prop wouldnt give me a turnaround time so all fingers crossed.
