I have an 06 RX300 and last night the wife accidentally locked the steering wheel whilst reaching for her handbag in the passenger footwell (women!).
When I came to drive the car I put the key in which brought the steering column down but I couldn't turn the steering wheel or the ignition key. The car was in park and I tried gently jiggling the wheel and key but nothing. I also tried various combinations of pushing and pulling but nothing and I also tried different keys, with no joy.
A quick call to Lexus at Freelance motors in Guernsey (who were absolutely superb!) and a loan car was on standby and RAC on the way.
Whilst waiting for the RAC I lost my temper and gave the key a really forceful turn and it moved and I was up and running. I have tested it again and I can unlock the steering but only with real force that feels as if the key will snap. Has anyone else found their steering lock hard to disengage or is it just a Lexus trait. Dealer will be having a look at the car this afternoon.
