  1. I'll have a car as we're driving down from Orlando, can you drive to the Keys and back in a day? Not really going to be there long enough to stay there this time around, but I'd just love to drive down as it looks really cool (on TV anyway) :)

Takes about 3 hours to get to Key West (about 120miles). Lots of single lane roads. If you don't hit the traffic is fine, speeding is not recommended, cops are hiding on slip roads ect... The view is fantastic from the bridges.

  2. Hi!

I lived in the USA 6 for years. On my first Florida holiday I stayed in the Howard Johnson Plaza Dezerland Beach & Spa Hotel, Miami Beach. It was very nice . Some pic:

If you looking for a nice beach holiday in South Florida, Miami South Beach is a good choice.

If you after family friendly places then Fort Lauderdale or Pompano Beach can be better option.(about 25 miles North from Miami) Cheaper, not that busy, no scary places (like the city in Miami sometimes), lots of apartment style options. Personally if I would go back for a holiday I would get a car at the airport , travel around: Key West is very cool, Bahia Honda Island is absolutely nice , a boat tour in the Miami bay area is good ( lot of famous peoples houses) Miami Seaquarium, Everglades National Park ect...(hope this will help)

  3. not against any rules I know - but that means nothing as I dont recall reading them!! :)

Thats an OK price though not excellent, but then if they are near impossible to get nowadays then worth a tad more. BTW - are they the Lexus version, Made in Japan?

I usually get mine from Micheldever or Headley tyres, but haven't tried recently.

The "L" Lexus version has been discontinued, has been for some time now.

Hi ! Is (was) there any difference between the "L" Lexus version and what i got? Thanks ! Akos

yes they made in japan , no rim protector but I like them like this

  5. what dunlops did you get, where from and how much?? My front is well worn on the inner edge and may need a new one. Was sort of thinking the Sp9000 might be hard to get now?

    ta

Hi ! I got the Dunlop SP Sport 9000 (215/45R17) £104/each fitting, balancing, valve included from Blackboots (WIM & Blackboots same place)

The best tyre fitting machine what I ever seen. I recommend for anyone to do the WIM and get the new tyres .

(I hope it is not against the rules to post the place and the price.) Regards

  6. Thank You for the excellent service! I immediately noticed the improvement on driving. :driving:

The car handles much better in the corners and runs much smoother on the straight as well.

Having 4 brand new Dunlop on the wheels and geometry set up together is really made a big difference!

Very clean and smart workshop . Helpful , friendly staff! Thank You again !

    Best regards! Akos

  7. Hi everyone!

I'm going to visit the WIM for a geometry set up and the Blackboots for 4 new tyre tomorrow 18/07/2009. Anyone is gonna be around? I hope I can get some stickers .... :whistling:

Almost forgot I just washed my car and all wheels today including the spare one as well while it was raining  ...

I had to dig out my alloys from the inch thick brake dust. Probably I gave my neighbors something to talk about...

    :winky: :shutit:

  8. Lexus probably won't be interested if you've got problems with home-burned discs. See if you can reproduce the problem with commercial CDs, and take it into Lexus. Even if you can't reproduce the problem, take it in to Lexus anyway and tell them, to give you a chance of them being sympathetic if you get the problem shortly after the warranty expires.

Does the warranty say anything about the stereo ? Hopefully it's not an exclusion.

The warranty not covering the things like wipers , tyre , wear and tear things . So, I'll load the stereo with 6 factory discs and see what's gonna happen. Cheers

  9. Hi All!

Yesterday evening my factory stereo showed the error message for me for the first time.

There are 6 CDs in it. Some of them are home made some are original. For about 10-15

minutes the stereo decided not to play any of them. I was swapping the discs from 1-6 a

few times and became OK after that.

OK. My question is: what should I do with it ? I still have 2 weeks Lexus Approved

Used Warranty on the car. Do You think Lexus will replace it if looks OK on the time when

they will check it????? I rely like the stereo uniform look so I don't want to replace it with

    any different ones.

    Regards Akos

  10. were they second hand?if they're not too bad you could get them skim'd matey will still cost you money and i know you shouldnt have too but it looks like the boy has bunked mate.

Brand new ones . Yes, they are not too bad , but I will go for 2 new original discs at Toyota on tuesday afternoon (£220). They offered for me to skimming the discs , but as they not Toyota or Lex parts they can not give me guarantee after. (skimming cost £100)

They looked proper car parts dealers to me. :crybaby:

  11. Sorry to hear that mate, hate to think that the seller knew the disc was warped....Was there a seal on the box? Mine came in proper Mintex boxes and the discs were wrapped in plastic bags due to them having oil on them to stop any rust in transit.

However, at least you know it;s not your fault, and that you did nothing wrong.

Hope you can get it sorted soon mate.

    Keith

Yes it was a proper Mintex box, discs wrapped in plastic , oil on them ......same .

I bought it from here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=260121808882

  12. I just got back from Toyota . They checked all my brakes and everything was fitted

properly. The problem is : one of the discs is faulty . They tested on the Brake Test machine

and they let me see it. On the driver side the meter showed abnormal numbers.

I tried to contact the eBay seller on the phone but the number witch was on the listing ,don't exists.

I dropped him an email let see what will he do.

Toyota said they can change the 2 front discs for £220 if I can't sorted this out . They also said I can

keep on the mintex pads , because they has not been damaged.

  13. I'd agree with Ormi......When I did the front discs I made sure that the discs were seated correctly by putting the wheel nuts on the hub without the wheel, this allowed the discs to be pushed back flat against the hub. Now having said that, are you sure that once you took the old discs off that the hub was clean/free from any bits of rust/grit/etc before you put the new discs back on?

On completion my discs ran smooth.

    Keith

Yes I cleaned them properly with a small wire brush, gave a bit rust remover, and added a very thin coat off copper grease on the hubs .

When we placed the new discs on they were spot on.

I phoned a Kwik Fit guy today and he said probably will bedding in in a next 200 miles.

In the afternoon I popped in to another one where the shop boss said : my discs must be warped , need new ones :tsktsk:

I don't know if it is a good idea to give the car that 200 miles to see if goes well or not .

2 weeks ago I painted the centers and around the edges with 2 coats smooth black hammerite just lie you did.

Lexus wanted £140 for the pair of front discs and £55 for the pads plus labour minus LOC Gold discount.

    Thanks for the answers !

  14. Hi All!

I've been reading here how to change the front discs and pads on IS200 cars

Me and my mate did the job today. I think we did it properly just like written in tis tread :

    http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=59206

After finishing the work I did a test drive braking easily.

As I was pushing the brake pedal I felt moderate vibration from the front.

The steering wheel was a bit shaking as well .

Is that because the pad and discs needs to be bedding in in the next few days or

    miles?

I'm a bit worried about this now. Can You share your opinion if you used the

mintex or any other brakes , please.

I must admit when we placed the new discs on and fitted the new pads as I rotated

the disc was a bit of touching between in one point.

    Thanks !
