  1. Hey lad this is what we've been doing on our Tezzas to fix the gargling noise, it fixed mine... (quoted from tezzaworld.com)

If it happens its air stuck in the water system.

You will need to burp the system to ensure the air bubble doesnt get stuck somewhere and cook your engine!

    Steps:

    Park your car somewhere flat

Undo the radiator cap (when car is cold)

    Start engine

Turn the heater on to full heat (HOT) and fans to MAX

Let the car idle till the water temp has warmed up

Top up any coolant that goes down in the radiator from the bubbles that pop up.

Then just refit the radiator cap.

Heaters work with the coolant so turning the heaters on will just ensure the whole water system is flowing, and warming the car up just ensures the thermostat opens so that again, the whole water system is flowing, the bubbles of trapped air in the system will come out at the radiator as its the highest point of the cooling system.

I had to leave mine running with the rad cap off for about 25 mins, but sorted out the air lock ;)

Also i recently got 4 new tyres fitted to my Tezza (Uniroyal Rainsport 2) by far the best grip i've ever had from a tyre in dry and wet :)

    Hope this helps

  2. I know what your saying, most of us like to take pride in the way the car looks and it creases me up inside when i see new scratches or dings :tsktsk:

Heres a few of my woes :(

I was once parked in Tescos car park and a woman who was parked behind me (back to back) was trying to swing a bag full of tinned food into her car boot, but ended up clattering the bag straight into my boot and put 2 small creases right in the centre grrrrrrrr !

My car also seems to attract cats and ive often caught them up on the bonnet or the roof licking of the water when its been raining... I can just about handle the paw prints, but the little beggers some times slip and use their claws as brakes, so ive ended up with quite a few hair line scratches that have took me ages sorting out !

I also get a lot of inconsiderate gits parked next to me in car parks that just open their door straight onto mine, damn door dingers make me livid !

The worst one for me though was, driving to work one morning and coming the other way was a dumper truck with a load of rubble on the back.. I saw what i first thought was something floating in the wind, but it was a big rock that had fallen of the back and was bouncing straight towards me, it clattered into the side of my car putting a dent in the back wheel arch and cracking the back bumper :tsktsk:

  3. Finally got a day without rain, so thought id give her a good polish :)

I used a clay bar for the first time and im quite impressed with the results, very smooth B)

alright mate, just bought a 03 altezza and was wondering if ya knew any good sites for cheap body extensions, lips and kits.Or even ur own one ya have, pics of ur kit and car look class

The only site i know with kits and mods and theres lots of them http://www.japanparts.com/ although not exactly cheap... I dont think body kits and cheap go together unfortuantely, my Tezza came with the kit which is one of the reasons i chose it :)...

Now the weather is pretty bad most of the time, so it's difficult to keep her clean and starts to become a real chore, especially when it only lasts a day or so :( It took some real effort with the clay bar, but definitely worth it as you can see the results... Once it took me over 3 hours claying, polishing and waxing and its a killer on the back lol :)

Cheers for the comments everyone ;)

  4. My Tezza is due a service and i'm thinking of doing it myself :)

Ive already changed plugs to Denso iridium, but want to try the rest...

    Just a few questions :

These are the parts i think i need, please tell me if i'm missing some that can be changed by an amateur and any useful info you have please ? :)

Oil filter - any point in getting a sports filter? or just a standard Toyota filter ?

Air filter - Ive tried to find an Apexi panel filter, but i can't find anyone who sells them  any ideas ?

Oil - Castrol Magnatec 10w-40 semi synth - how many litres ?

Has anyone done the service and would like to give me a walkthrough ;)

    Appreciate the help and advice

    Cheers :)

  5. Ok guys

The time has come that my IS has just not got enough power for me :P, so thinking about converting to a Altezza.

Have you had a drive in an Altezza?

When i first had a test drive i was quite dissapointed with the power and i tried about 5 different ones before i bought it... Knowing that it was 210bhp i was expecting to be blown away, but for me the lack of bottom end power spoils it a little, although on the flip side it can be quite fun when those valves open up, it's like night and day the difference :) I love the looks though, definitely a head turner :)

I'm used to driving fairly quick cars though, so that's probably why i wasnt too impressed... I definitely agree that you always want more, oh i'd love a Bugatti Veyron

    Good luck mate

  6. does the airflow direction actually change - ie stop going to wndscreen and come out at the floor?

    Hi,

Yes the airflow changes to whatever setting i choose although when it reaches its position it does stop, but sounds as though its stuck on a loop when it stops... like the motor is still rotating on its stopped position, if that makes sense.. It only stops completely if its up towards the windscreen setting

    Cheers

  7. the IS and RS have the same clutch fittment just the fly wheels are different

Ok, so if i buy this clutch and say a Toda light weight flywheel im good to go? i dont need anything else to complete the job?

    Cheers mate :)

  8. Thanks for the input guys and gals :)

The thing was, when i first parked up there was about 5 spaces either side of my parking space, but when i came out of the cinema the car next to mine was full of scum bag lads with hoodies and baseball caps scoffing Macdonalds, they were in a 92 corrolla which was a heap... Maybe they even did it on purpose who knows (major stereo types i know, but they looked like trouble )... When i got home i also noticed 2 hand prints around my rear spoiler like it had been grabbed grrrrrr and this was at 4pm :tsktsk: I suppose things could be worse ..

I didnt know there was such a thing as mobile dent removers, great stuff i'll look into it... Hopefully i can find one here in Ireland?

    Thanks much appreciated :)

  9. Hey,

So i went to the pics at the weekend and after i came back to my car i noticed that the car at one side of me was rather close, so checked my door as i always do (paranoia) and i could just see where they'd opened the door on my pride and joy :tsktsk:

I checked it in the day light the morning after and can just see a slight crease :tsktsk: and its the first one on the car which is a 99 :(

Its only small and is barely noticeable, but i suppose many of you will be the same, when you know its there it bothers you :tsktsk:

Apart from not taking the car at all, does anyone have any tips to stop the doors getting bashed in car parks? (some people just dont give two :tsktsk: .... Also any chance that the small creases can be fixed D.I.Y ?

    Cheers for the support

  10. Hi,

I have a problem with my cars heater and wondered if anyone else had same problem...

It doesn't matter if the a/c is on or off, but when i turn the dial to change the air flow to any other setting than up to the windscreen, i can hear what sounds like the motor constantly trying to adjust or that when it reaches the setting ive chosen it doesnt want to stop and sounds like its looping on its self...

If that makes any sense to anyone and you have a fix please tell me as its a little bit annoying ?

    Cheers :)

  11. hi mate I have the same kit on my tezza

I've told my insurance company that this is a factory fitted kit which it is !!

the side and rear skirts are TRD and the front bumper is called the legana bumper (think that spellings right )

you can buy the bumper from www.japanparts.com at £550 thats just for an un painted bumper

fogs are about £55 each, and fog mounting brackets are about £40 of the top of my head

    Thanks mate :)

  12. Hi,

I've searched google, but it keeps coming up with cars for sale rather than specific sites, so was hoping someone could help me :)

Can anyone tell me what kit is on my car ? name/model ? , i believe its a TRD kit, but thats all i know... also where would you buy a replacement kit if it got damaged?

    pics here - http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=53191

The reason im asking is, i almost came a cropper today with some idiot pulling out on me, thank god for ABS otherwise

When i transfered my insurance to my Tezza i never mentioned anything about the kit, should i tell them that this kit isnt standard? or is the kit a standard option when buying from new?

    Cheers for the help

  13. Looks lovely mate, felt great (but aching) after PCIronmike & me clayed mine

Your telling me mate, my backs broken lol

I didnt even have the strength to give her a coat of wax, so goes to show how good the clay is, although quite expensive.

Cheers for comments guys and gals ;)

  14. Ok im gonna contact Toyota just out of curiosity...

At the moment i will just be running stock, so i guess a standard clutch with a light weight fly wheel will do the job?

What site is that then TDI?

    Cheers mate :)

  15. I used to run a TRD ligtht weight flywheel with a standard clutch and it worked fine ( I have the old flywheel for sale if your interested )

Now I'm running a light weight Toda flywheel and Helix cermertalic clutch,

The IS200 and RS200 use the same clutch just the flywheels are different, so you may want to look at a road clutch as this will be a bit nice to drive with ( not as heavy to drive )

it really just depends on how much power your gonna put throught the transmission and how much you wanna spend

Thanks for the reply mate :)

I dont want to go crazy with the spend although its not an issue... I do like to put the foot down quite a lot on private roads :whistling:

Can you explain exactly what you mean "how much power your gonna put through the transmission"? I've been driving for 15 years and have only just started to take a real interest in how things actually work and i can see now how addictive it can be :)

So is it best to order a IS200 clutch kit from Toyota? or will they totally fleece me ? and buy a light fly wheel from? Where did you get your Toda? and do you literally just need the wheel or do you also need special covers and bolts etc?

I'm worried about a few things... 1st that i'm going to get robbed when i could have got the same parts elsewhere for much cheaper and 2nd that because of my lack of knowledge i'm not going to get all the parts i need for the job :(

Cheers for the help, much appreciated

btw thanks for the offer, but i think i'd prefer to buy everything new :)

  16. Ok Finally finished :)

Here's my how to guide on changing to an aftermarket single din headunit - on my 99 RS200 Altezza

First like is mentioned you have to determine if you have an amp or not, i didnt have an amp so heres what i needed for the installation.

All parts i bought from eBay for less than £25

    1. AUTOLEADS TOYOTA LEXUS IS FASCIA FACIA PANEL FP 25 00

    2. LEXUS IS200 ISO HARNESS ADAPTOR

    3. CAR RADIO STEREO AERIAL ADAPTER/CONNECTOR (DIN TO ISO)

I assembled the new facia to begin with and clipped in the cage that came with my Alpine stereo, then began stripping the console.

The top section with airvents is clipped in, so tilt the airvents back and get a good grip and pull straight back, with a bit of persuasion it should pop right out..

    post-24379-1220300675.jpg

Then pull out the bottom section with A/C and Snow control and disconnect the connector.

    post-24379-1220300727.jpg

Now you will be able to see the 4x 10mm bolts, 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom, unscrew these and pull the section out slightly so you can unplug the connections, now the stereo and climate controls will lift out.

    post-24379-1220300771.jpg

Remove the climate controls section from the standard stereo, then add it to your new Facia and slide your new stereo into the new facia..

    post-24379-1220300810.jpg

Connect the adaptor harness and ariel adaptor to your cars stock wiring connections and connect to your replacement head unit.... Reconnect the climate controls and bolt the centre section back on the centre console... Reconnect your A/C unit and clip back in, and finally clip back in your top air vents and you should have something like this :)

    post-24379-1220300858.jpg

    Hope this helps :)

Also see Wozzas guide on pimping the facia to match the console better... I'll be trying this when i have more time ;)

    Good luck

  17. Hi :)

I need to buy a new clutch, could you good people give me your advice on whats the best to get for normal road use and the odd crazy driving day ;)?

Id like to get a light weight fly wheel aswell after it was recommended. which one is the best for me?

Ive seen a standard clutch kit on Fensport.... If i buy this standard clutch kit and a light weight flywheel is this all i need to get the job done? or do i need a special clutch kit for a light weight fly wheel?

As you can prob tell i have no clue here, so the more info the better :)

It would be great to hear from anyone living in Ireland and your advice on where to buy?, i see there's a few of you on here :)

    All advice welcome, Cheers :)
