  1. You should see if there are anyother bits on your car that need touched up / sprayed.

Get that added onto the quote, and make her pay !!!!!

The man has a point :whistling:

    Hey there,

When i was serving my time as panel beater / spraypainter, we would have customers asking this all the time, we would have to refuse as inspector would obvoiusly come out from insurance company to inspect damage and tell US how much we would get for fixing the damage, but if a garage has to use filler/stopper/primer/paint/laquer this would be paid for by the insurance claim, and we would hand over a seperate bill for a couple of hours labour to the customer for tidying any other area's on the car. Much better than having to pay for these things on your own bill!!!

Just depends on how accomodating your painter is, worth asking anyway mate.

  2. Hey Parthiban,

So these do have the glass on the front of them, like you say maybe it is the angle of shot makes it look like there is no glass on them!!

But my glass looks like crap, all stone chipped, i would not get a good look on mine putting the old lens back in, but i did read thru the guides for that procedure on here.

    Cheers,

no word on speakers for you yet????????

  3. I've just been looking thru your photos & reading up on all the mods you've done to your lex, STUNNING, and i feel for you :crybaby: sounds like you are taking it very well considering.

I like your positive outlook on it, and if worst comes to worst, i'm sure you'll buy another motor and re-live all the fun you've had modifying your current one, you must have been struggling to find something else to tinker with anyway????

    Best of luck!!

  4. your at the same stage as i am parthiban,

I'm looking to upgrade my front speakers aswell, blew one up testing out my new headunit, I have been hunting around and found these below, looks like a good price, back when i was a youngster :whistling: infinity was a good name in speakers

    http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/p...ts_id/3828.html

These are only 5 1/4", not 6 1/2", so mdf spacer would be required, and i dont have plans to put in amps later so watts is not too important for me.

maybe the guy's on here know something i dont about fitting a different size of speakers, but i think these would do the job.

And i do like a bargain - and not just because i'm a jock!!!!!!!

  5. I know you have set a limit on budget and dont want to shift on that, i was the same when i was looking for one last month, but i added a few quid to get the JVC KW-NX7000, this is a discontinued unit,(been replaced with 2009 model) so there was alot of good deals to be had on companys looking to get shot of this older stock, it has sat nav built into it, and does all that you are looking for, i got mine for 515 quid delivered, i see on your profile that you have a tom tom, so maybe this is no use to u??

On the 3 units u listed above my opinion is that the JVC is the best looking one, has the biggest screen, and the sd card slot is a major bonus, thats where i play my tunes from now.

I cant fault the JVC on anything except the ipod playback is quite slow, not ages, but certinally not instant, but i beleive that this is a common prob with alot of units?? but like i said, i just copied all the tunes i have on my ipod to a sd card and dont bother with plugging in the ipod at all.

But if u want the phone kit, it is an extra 90 quid

    JVC for me

  6. hi guys

just after some info before i install my new HU, got the amp bypass lead here, it has iso blocks one end, and the block to byass the amp on the other end, however in the middle there is a loose red wire with a clamp down crimp block with no mention of this in the help sheet, i'm assuming this is the 12v ignition or 12v permanent wire yeah?

    thanks for your help :)

I've just finished installing my new HU with the bypass lead, my lead had 2 yellow memory (permanent feed) wires which both went into the same pin at the iso block end for the HU, my lead had NO red wire for ignition feed on it at all !!!!

I had to then run my own ignition feed wire to the block for the amp and use a clamp down crimp block to get my unit to work with the ignition,

Found that to be the grey wire top right corner of the amp block.

  7. Allright boy's, got my head round whats up today and got the unit fitted and performing properly,

Your right Stevie, the ignition cable is the grey one on the plug for the lexus amp.

My Auto leads bypass cable has 2 yellow memory wires on seperate pins at the amp end, but they join together (both wires in same pin) at the head unit end...Strange.

Sorry Lad's, I was being a fud and looking a ignition feed on the multi-plug that went straight into the lexus head unit, i couldn't find because it wasn't there, obviously just perm feede ones there for memory, and then i discovered the grey wire down at the amp plug, scotch-locked into that feed and problem solved, I suppose Autoleads had a faulty batch of leads, let the guy at the shop where i got it fromknow, just incase he has to get another one for someone else, thankless prick couldn't care less!!!

Anyway, thanks again for your thought's, and taking the time to reply,

    Much appreciated!!!!

  8. take the ign feed of the orignal loom then.. its in there and what it should be used for..

    I wish i could!!!!

Thats the problem i've been having, checked all the wires that went to the original stereo, there are 2 power wires, both are permenant feed, the power stays to both wires even when ignition is off, i know this problem sounds thick, i know the original stereo switched off when ignition was off, and i sense the fustration in your reply, I nearly turned my head inside out trying to figure why i couln't find the ignition feed, but this is the reason i'm having to look for somewhere else to tap into another ignition feed.

  9. i have it connected it to cig lighter.

Thanks for quick reply Asi, but maybe our cars are slightly diferent, but my cigarette lighter works both when my ignition is on or off, this did come to mind but it would just provide me with another permanent feed. Thanks again tho!

drop the steering coweling off(few screws)and test the wires on the back of the ignition switch.you'll find a ignition live their.

I never actually looked to see it was that easy to get to the ignition barrel, i thought there would be mre t cme off and was worried that clip's would break or end up with rattles, if its that simple thats the way i'll go, dont want to send back lead and wait for a new one, it will be getting fitted tomrrow.

    Thanks again

  10. swap the perm and ign live on the JVC loom..

they 'should' be shrouded in clear plastic with connectors underneath

Thanks for reply redz and your right they are shrouded in plastic, but i can not swap them as the the bypass lead only has a permanent power feed (intended for the memory only), i have them both, Power and memory from the JVC loom looped into that one and only power supply as the lead does not carry a ignition feed.

  11. Hi Guy's,

Would appreciate any help on where the best place to get ignition feed for my head unit would be.

I've fitted a JVC sat nav double din headunit using the autoleads amp bypass harness, the unit works well and will look good once the facia is sorted out as per Wozza's filling & painting guide, but the problem i have is that the power is constantly on all the time to the unit, has to be switched off manually. (bound to get left on at some point and come back to the car with a flat battery)

i have tested all the terminals coming from the bypass lead(numerous times to double check), and i have 2 terminals on constantly but none pwers on / off when ignition turned.

Called the shop that ordered the bypass harness and he told me that it was normal to have t switch stereo's off manually, but if i really wanted it to work when ignition then i would have to go to the ignition barrell itself for a source as the seat heaters / TRC / SNOW power supply would not be strong enough an i would blow fuses, and i can't use the blower motor power supply as this will cause interferance with my sounds. i also tried the spare multiplug for the OEM head unit, and found no ignition wire on it either.

Is this a common prob with bypass lead???

Do all JVC units have to be switched off manually????

Where is the easiest place to tap into a power supply strong enough to power the head unit????

I wont be putting the unit back in for a couple of days till i've glued /filled & painted the modified fascia to the standards set by Wozza & others, so any response, idea's or methods used would be a bonus lads.

    Cheers in advance,

    Deckie.
