  1. has anyone seen the yellow altezza on pistonheads. it is saying it is a trd edition was there such a edition released? and it says it has a jasma manifold. is this a decat or just a sports cat. i am thinking about emissions for the car tax in uk. as far as i no altezzas are near into the big uk tax group but surely a manifold would make it a lot worse on emissions. any thoughts on if this car would be genuine or if its just some bits added on and labelled a trd car.

    would appreciate any advice

  2. cheers for advice mate unfortunately i am in position i will have to fly from belfast to southampton to pick it up but i will ask about what happens if the car fails sva and make sure they give me in writing that its not my cost if it does.

    cheers man

  3. Some personal experience reports here TBH I think no matter who you are buying/importing through there is always a chance that things aren't quite right or as advertised. I'd personally now go with someone who has a base here rather than buying of some random Japanese dealer, so at least with Bonsai you'd hopefully have a bit more peace of mind if anything were to be wrong.

cheers for the advice read that link you gave me seems some good some bad but i guess thats the chance you take. pity the yellow ones are so rare.

  4. i have been emailing and one or 2 phone calls to bonsai cars, based in southampton im told. was wondering if anyone on here has heard of them or even better used them to bring in a car.

they say for a fee they bring the car over, sva it, register it in your name and you just pick it up and drive.

would be great if anyone has used or heard reports of this company as i would appreciate any stories or experiences with them.

    cheers.

  6. i spoke to a guy that rally preps cars and he said if its for performance ie 0-60 or 0-100 the camcon no good because even if you alter when the cam changes to say 2000rpm if your doin 0-100 it may work in first gear but when you hit 6000rpm and change gear it only comes back down to 4500 where it is as standard so it only used once from a standing start.

  7. purchased my IS200 Sport last week and first post in the forum.

coolrides that looks great can i ask what year your car is? Mine is 1999 and as posted in another forum sits higher at the back than later models.

Will start mods next week and induction kit and lowering is first. A couple of questions:

    1. For this amount of lowering are coilovers needed? I have standard sport wheels with eventual plans to move upto 18"

    2. Springs i have found are stating 35mm lowering front and back. Will different springs be required to lower more at the back and if so what make can anyone reccommend?

I really want to drop mine at the back and as the sports suspension is already lower than standard a 35mm spring will not make a massive difference i think.

    Thanks in advance.

my car was a pretty standard 99 se model just coilovers wheels and tints and a backbox. sold it now to save for an altezza. but def say safer going down the coilover route rather than buy springs and not be happy with the way it sits. my 18s rubbed very slightly on the plastic arch liners but was not worth worrying about. could have remoulded it a bit with my heat gun if needed.

  8. My little skid light pops on now and then just too remind me my car is looking out for me :)

    B x

turn the wee button off and let her go its much more fun lol

    Hey there Mr Cool,

You wouldn't be trying to persuade me to be dangerous I hope?! Hahaha

    B x

no no i would never suggest such a thing. lol. only in a safe place :whistling:

i always behave in my car

  9. def sounds like diesel or possibly black ice. mate put his girls colt in a hedge at low speed and police said there was fuel spillage.

one other thing to check tho my car came very loose at the back for a while and the tyres looked fine but when i took a wheel off she had burnt off the inside edge on the 2 rears. had to get the camber reset and new tyres fitted

  10. also dave can you get service and engine/transmission parts for them handy enough. i guess most of it would be lexus parts apart from the engine/transmition??

    No real problems.

Best best, aside from the engine, is to say its for an IS200.

    brakes/clutch/suspension/ are the same

I'd say you will be finne.

But as I've said earlier don't import...........get your wad together and offer cash for the yellow one on pistonheads (i'm after it :whistling: )

you thinking of buying it. looks nice. i was honest with the guy. said i loved the car but would not be in a position to buy till into feb or march if he still had it. and to let me no if he still has it. really low mileage. never asked him if it had any history with it.

  11. parts are pretty easy to get , ....some dealers arnt helpfull, most are though, use toyota dealers not lexus though

cheers matt. i read somewhere that its a old celica engine is that true? does that mean you could get parts at a normal autofactors for servicing.

  12. cheers stevie.

yea dave seen the one on piston heads. have mailed him saying to let me no if it sells as i not ready just yet. also been talking to a guy called gavin from 16s17s18s website. they import them and give an on the road price with its test and all done. he said about the currency at min too.

anyone dealed with them before on here?

    cheers

    never heard of them.............

contacted them through the japanese performance magazine. there was another one but never got back to me they called yam3. you heard of them??

  13. cheers stevie.

  14. if i was to import a rs200 altezza from japan to uk what all needs done to it to make it road legal over here. e.g will i need a new set of clocks for mph. will it need fog lights fitted? will it need a special mot.

also what is the engine code of a rs200.

the one i am looking for is 1999-2000 yellow and seems to be called a rs200 z edition is this a diifferent spec car?

any good online auctions from japan that you have used?

any help would be great guys have not imported before.

    thanks

  15. Thanks for the reply. These could be just what I'm after. Not got the cash for the SS kit, and on the SS have heard without buying the top mount kit they knock. Not really fussed about adjustable damping or EDFC, just want to go lower.

i would sell you mine as they only few months old but would not be practical posting over sea and trying to swap for your old ones. i selling my car too just incase you thinking i dont like the shocks lol

  16. sweet seems to be doing that rolling burnout effortlessly. must have some grunt.

Nah...its all down to the passenger :whistling::lol:

take it you where in it lol. take it that was a lexus meet at wim.?

No that was from the centres open day ........ mat put on a nice display :)

yea looks like it. will have to get over for a open day or lexus meet next year

  17. you will get 200 BHP as standard with the 4 cylinder beams engine and there are way more off the shelf tuning products available. You should chat to Mr Singh on here, he has an altezza which I think is running about 300BHP.

i tried to pm mr singh off the tezza forum but got no reply before.

Gord bought it from Mr Singh, try PM to him.

Gord sold it to someone in Ireland not long after though IIRC :) Not seen anything about the car since, but it was a fantastic Altezza B)

Ive been told the supercharged Altezza is/was for sale again on pistonheads, not had look myself, wanting 17k or something like that for it :o

Never had a drive of turbo Altezza, but i never liked the way the supercharger worked on the Altezza :duh: sort of on or off nothing like the TTE set-up.

i love turbo cars but dont want to buy an s14 or 15 nissan cause of the growing numbers. at cruises there are bucket loads of s14s and more s15s starting to show up. so seeing i like the lexus i prob just goin to change to an altezza. hopefully yellow if i can get one.
