  1. you can get a turbo charged rs 200from Japan

yea seen one a toms t280. would be wicked quick. but from insurance quotes i think it would just be an rs200 lol. my local toyota dealer seems happy enough they can get parts for them ok so thats a plus. much dearer to insure than is200.

the TOM's one on autotrader is not what I'm talking about.

That one is very collectible...........think only 100 ever made

oh right i see. you mean just a turbo kit. just seen the interior in the eBay one. my god. all that work let down by the citreon jazz interior lol.

i have been looking around at them on net. yellow seems nice but is it as nice in person when you standing beside it.

  3. you will get 200 BHP as standard with the 4 cylinder beams engine and there are way more off the shelf tuning products available. You should chat to Mr Singh on here, he has an altezza which I think is running about 300BHP.

i tried to pm mr singh off the tezza forum but got no reply before.

  4. Have you read any of the threads lately? i'd avoid TDi like the plaque until they sort their act out.

The Turbo kit MicroMarc is selling is a good kit if you buy a decent turbo for it.

The TTE kit is best picked up second hand rather than paying over the odds for a brand new kit.

But either was you need to keep the boost below 0.5 or uprated the internals, without the internals your prob looking at a max of 240bhp.

Personally, if your not fussed about losing the refinements i'd change to the RS200. and there seems to be a few of them over in Ireland so parts will be easier to come by,

    Stav

i dont care about the refinments really i goin to dump my interior anyway. people have been saying the rs200 is no tourqe and hard to get going but if its like a vtec honda power delivery i would prob like it. would also want to put some of my bits from the is200 on if they fitted like the tein coilovers. sh*t thin is i just mot and changed my timing belt on my car lol

  5. i am debating weather to keep my is200 and charge it or get an altezza.

i seen nice looking kit on tdi but what and who offers what.

what do you get in the price off tdi for tte kit eg. is that fitted, what comes with it , manifold ect?

and what is the difference in the kit prolex do and whats in his price. think it was a rotrex or somet on prolex.

which kit offers what bhp figures.

i dont want to start a war just whats in which kit and price roughly fitted and ready to go. would be interested in what people say that have used both companies. if you prefer pm me to avoid any arguements.

    thanks

and anyone thats had a turbo kit if they could also give rough price and figures ready to go

  6. i not sure so many thoughts goin through my head, have never drove an altezza either so i dont no the difference.

may sound odd but i like the dark green of my is200 and i happy enough with its looks. i no there are things i can do to it like a s/charger but that only brings it up to near the 220bhp of a tezza.

anyone have any performance figures of a s/charged is200 e.g. o-60 and quarter mile.

and the same figures for a standard tezza.?

have been planning nitrous for the is200 after christmas wit a progressive controller for about 220bhp and yes i have had insurance quotes but its still only a standard tezza power.

Firstly an RS200 has 207bhp from factory (210ps) not 220 bhp and then only when ran on 100ron fuel...

factory quoted 0-60 is 7.2 seconds for the manual transmission

Supercharger is said to knock 2 seconds off the IS200's 0-60 so nothing in it ...

Seen a supercharged IS200 (217bhp on dyno) go head to head with a RS200 (201bhp on dyno) all the ways to 140MPH and there was nothing in it..

If you really like the car you have then supercharging is something to keep in mind...

cheers noel. i like my is200 engine note and the tourqe through gears. it will go from about 30 in 6 if i being lazy. does a supercharger make more of a difference to the tourqe than the overall power?

a guy off the tezza site said i can see his altezza so should help me decide.

is the 4 cylinder any better on fuel on a normal drive.

  7. after talking to a few boys at a car show in dublin about their altezza it making me think about changing to one. 220bhp from a smaller lighter engine sounds good to me. are they both basically the same cars apart from engine? and are the good parts supplies for them. any advice would be great guys. dont want to spend too much more on the is200 if i do decide to change. also will my coilovers fit the tezza and my blitz exhaust.

The engine is the heart of any car,

change that and you are making a big change.

Please don't buy an Altezza, just buy an IS and don't turn it to sheite by sticking a stupidly loud kiddies exhaust on it.

I cringe each time I see a 'tezza' with a exhaust the size of a main sewerage drain, tinted windows, booming music and other cretinous rubbish.

Why do these 'citizens' buy such a car then ruin it? do they think they are buying themselves something other than a car?

    Rant over

    // I'll get my coat

i already have a is200 and sorry to say i been modding it lol although i not a big fan of big bodykits ect but i do like drift cars and their graphics lol

in boyracer world there is sensible cruisers and the ones nobody wants at the cruise that ruin it for everyone. we the sensible ones that would prefer the police to take away the nobs that arse about all night and are only there for a drink

as for comfort i have been planning bucket seats so luxeries i dont mind losing. more worried about availability of parts and spares for engine and gearbox ect.

i just thinking if i want to tune i might be better off starting with a altezza????

    headmelting. :duh:

  10. he just likes the tourqe of the diesles. i hate the things even tho they gettin faster than petrol models.

    1) I know what you mean, my dad has an MG ZT diesel, it's a 54 plate and has done 17000 miles. Not worth it, he should have got the 2.5V6!!! But he prefers diesel.

    2) Agreed, I don't like them either!

used to be a 1.9d would be like a tractor, nowdays a normal 1.9tdi bora or anything above 130bhp will smoke the big 2.0 6 cyclinder lex.

been done a few times on motor way and they just pull so hard compared to mine. but never want one. hate the noise of them.

  11. Well, unluckyly he has his inbox full, so I can't contact with him... I'll try it through his web page.

Yeah you should be able to get him through the Prolex website/store.

i think prolex sells alteza ones. not sure what way it would fit, straight in or need modified?

  12. You have to be doing at least 15k miles a year to get any financial benefit out of owning a diesel car. And that's an old figure, with the difference in fuel prices these days it'll be more.

So why not have the smoothness of petrol instead?

Plus some newer diesels are finicky about doing low mileages i.e. lots of short trips.

  13. Hi

My Lexus IS200 has done 120000 miles, and it has been serviced by them up untill now. Thing is I called them up for the 120000 mile service and they said it would cost £750 !!!!! I asked them why so much and they replied that the spark plugs would be replaced and that was the major part of the service in terms of the high cost!

My question is, is this reasonable? Also, if I wanted to take the car to another mechanic, what are the main things he should do in the service in terms of replacements, i.e. what should I ensure is done?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I live near Pinner in London and if anyone knows any mechanics that either specialise in lexus/toyota servicing or just any recommended mechanics, near me I would appreciate their contact.

    Many Thanks

spark plugs could be changed by a novice on the is 200. only prob i had was i short and had to stand on my tip toes to reach the last one at the bulkhead lol. serious half an hour max. ik20 plugs off eBay for around 40-50 quid. tell them you dont want plugs changed. any decent garage can service it if you dont mind not having full lexus service history. only reason most people use main dealers is to maintain the warranty for first few years.

  14. my uncle has been test driving new cars and after he drove a 2008 is220d he was not overly impressed. he said it goes well but finish is not as he expected. he likes my is200 but he dont do petrol anymore. he looking to trade in a 1 year old mondeo diesle 2.0 with 13000 miles on it an only offering him 9000 trade in. they trying to rob him. is there diesle in old shape??

  15. been told off before by cops and best about it was they reversed up wrong side of main road to tell me. its good that they have thier own rules and can do what they want.

gutted for ya mate just ignore them

    another law abiding citizen :lol::lol:

i honestly have no respect for them. have never helped when needed and always there when you do somet tiny to give you the full rath of the law. and also can discriminate at their own disgretion.

    i.e

owned a seat ibiza and had 2 leds on the washer jets on bonnet in red. very small. driving up motorway to a show at 70 just cruisin along and started gaining on a marked car. they sped up to about 70 also. next thing a 3series bmw and an audi a4 come past both of us at at very least 80-90mph. they turned a blind eye and pulled me over for my 2 leds during daylight and gave me a £30 fine, breathalised and a producer.

what would you say was more dangerous to the road users me or 2 cars prob racing until they seen cops then backed off a bit but still flew past.

if i knew how to start a poll i would just to see what people thought.

    cheers

  16. guy that did my timing belt was finishing my car and i watched him fill the radiator but he did not seem to bleed it. are these cars self bleeding or do i need to take action. he said toyotas sort themselves out normally??

levels seem fine and everything seems to work ok and temp is spot on when driving

how is the temp at idle??i work for toyota and the way we normally bleed them is to jack the car up as high as you can at the front untill you get hot air through the heaters then switch off let cool for a bit then top up if req!they can be a bit of a bugger to bleed though!hope that helps?

ps remember their is two places for the coolant to go!!!!

yea both levels seem fine. he just filled it on a 2 post jack so car was level
