  1. As the title suggests, i just want some opinions on the sports grill for the is200. and any pics you have of yours.

I have seen these on ebay and they have my car colour (granite sky)are these real. I was expectin to pay a bit more?

    Thanks

    Joe

That link is actually a Lexus dealership. There are a few different dealers like that that have shops on eBay and will sell left over stock for a good price. You should keep an eye out on those guys, as I remember seeing a new TTE bumper going cheap not that long ago !

  2. Hi All

At the moment im paying £500 full comp, just got my renewal through and suprise suprise its gone upto £750!!

Im abit niffed off as ive just turned 25, no points and 6 years no claims.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good insurance company.

    Many thanks pp

I had the same problem recently.

I’m 26 with 5 NCB, and I went from £450 FC last year and a renewal of £750 this year. First I shopped around and the best I found was £430 FC, but I was still unimpressed with this as it was only £20 cheaper, but that was the best price I could find with the extra covers that I wanted.

When I called my insurance company to see if they could match that price they couldn’t so I had to leave.

I even spoke to the guys at Sky ( the LOC’s sponsors), who have always been really good at competing with prices said that all insurance premiums have raised, and couldn’t match my quote.

Depending on what other things Adrian Flux covers, that quote seems pretty good to me !

try elephant i pay £260 with ncb protected

    Are you 25 ?

Try Direct line, my partner has a BMW 316i at the moment and pays £40 per month with 1 years no claims, I pay £60 per month for my IS200 for the 2 of us on the policy, me with 2 years no claims.

That doesn’t seem to be a very good price at all.

That is almost as expensive as PhillP’s renewal quote, which he didn’t want to pay.

Plus Direct Line are a very bad insurance company. If you ever have to use them, they will give you more hassle than what the issue is worth. I’ve heard so many stories of how much problems people have had with them, including myself.

  3. Hi welcome to the site !!

You are right about how quiet the RXs are. I was almost run over by one at Royal Ascot this year because i didn't hear it coming

I can’t give you much advise on the DVD player, but I’m sure someone on the RX section will be able to help you out.

    Best of luck !!

  4. 4. The facia kits I have read that some people spray and use filler to get the right look, is it that bad then?

    I haven’t sprayed my facia.

This is a bad camera phone pic, but this gives you an idea of what the Facia looks like when you are lazy.

  5. Thanks for the clarification.

The orange light stays on my air circulating button and does not go off, is this linked to the heated mirrors?

So if i put the rear heater or seat heater, they automatically go on??

    Thanks

    Alright there mate.

I think you might be getting a little confused to what Sparkystav is saying.

Depending on what year your IS is, your heated wing mirrors will either be on all the time, or switched on with your rear heated window.

    Have a look at you’re A/C controls.

Which control unit does yours look like ?

    44f1fe82badb9.jpg

If you have the top one, then you heated mirrors are on all the time, and can’t be turned off.

If you have the second one, then your heated mirrors will only work when you press the demister/heated mirror button.

The little orange light will always be on. Don’t worry about this, as it only comes on when you have the fans or A/c running, and can’t be turned off either (unless the unit is faulty).

Your heated seats have nothing to do with the heated mirrors or windows. They are on separate switches.

Also, when you say you have a missing “Jet Nozzel Cover”, are you talking about the head lamp washer, or the windshield washer?

If you are talking about the headlamp washer, I might have a cover in colour for you, but I will need to double check.

  6. You’ll this time of the year with it being cold, wet, and all winter like, that, that light will come on more.

There is nothing to worry about, as it’s just letting you know that your tire was spinning, and that it has reduced power to stop you from spinning out.

If you had turned your TRC off, you would have found that your “slide” would have been A LOT worst !!!

Last year, I got a bit twitchy on a motorway with black ice. It set my heart going for a bit, but I was so grateful that we have TRC on our cars !

  7. If you want to check to make sure you have an LSD you will need to look at your VIN plate under the bonnet.

    IMG_2649_edited-1.jpg

You are looking for this circled code.

If, just like this plate, it ends in "B" then it's LSD. If it ends in "A" then you have an open diff.

  8. Well look what turned up in the post this morning !!!

    :D

Will give this ago when i next get some free time.

Going from the instructions on the link i posted above says, i will only need strut, so i will be sticking the other one up in the For Sale Section if any one is interested !

Come on Guys ! Put your names down and come along !!!!

  10. In the past when people have had this problem, we’ve never really got to the bottom of it. Sometimes it was either the ABS, or coil pack.

When I very first bought my car, my TRC flashed. Turned out there wasn’t enough anti-freeze in the car, and it stopped.

So really it could be anything, and I think you might have to bite the bullet and get a garage to look at it, and let us know what particular problem it was this time.

  11. Have a read of this VIAGRA thread.

Some of the guys have fitted a small hydraulic lifter to the boot.

There is a part number, a link to RS, and I think some sort of instruction on where to mount the lifter.

There used to be pictures, but it looks like they have taken them down. I’m sure if you asked nicely some one will still have a pic for you (STAVS ??).

This is something I have been meaning to do, but always had something come up. After being reminded by this post, I think I will order one now !

    :zee:

  12. i still think its a money making scheme... 37mph isnt going to cause a fatality considering you can break fast enough to not hurt anyone also pedestrians also have to be aware of traffic too. grrr i hate this government... are they still considering going to increases petrol by 2p in september?

That’s easy for you to say, because you are an adult.

Children are stupid, and don’t have the same traffic awareness as us, or understand the concept of speeding vehicles.

It doesn’t matter if you are doing 37mph, 30mph, or 20mph, if a child runs out in front of you, and you are not expecting it, you will hit them, and cause quite a lot of damage to them.

The idea of the Driver’s Awareness Course is to slow you down rather than the old style of punishing you, and I’m sure it’s the government that pays for you to go on these courses.

However I do agree with you on the petrol problem!

The cheapest petrol station to me charges 104.9 for unleaded, and 119.9 for super !!!!!

  13. Any one watching ITV 4 right now ?

The show is Cops on Camera, and at the moment cameras are with Traffic Police in Kent, and they have just seen a Lexus IS200 on ANPR showing no valid MOT.

They pull the owner over and just seen that due to the awesome geo settings from Lexus, the inner tyres are worn down to the metal.

Police have also just found the car full of drugs too !!!

    :lol::lol::lol:
