Hi really need some help people. If I was to buy a Blitz Access ECU for the supra would it work on the JZS147? Ive heard of people pluging in standard Supra ECUs and them saying that it made there Aristo feel more aggressive but I cant remember if they had any problems with it. What do you think will it work and be ok ie remove fuel cut and delimit and do all the things its supposed to do or do you think it will be problems??
thanks guys
I'm not really sure. My Jap tuner says it will work....however the Aristo Mk.2 as an example has SNOW and PWR modes which may differ from the Supra. Theoertically it will work, but it might not.
Watch out for the boost settings on these aftermarket ecus. My TOMS ecu was supposed to be 1.0bar. In fact it ran 1.5bar.

Twin turbo better setup for auto/road driving.
Singles definitely laggy and crap power band for the road.
Auto makes it worse (lag).
Again, Pete @ Thor should recommend, but going stock twins is kewl. Although I'd buy brand new ones if I could.

You're probably going to get boost creep with that setup. It'll show up around 110-120mph on full throttle....it's really important that you get a Blitz boost controller fitted so you can see you peak boost and have it bleed off any excess boost.
-
nice to know!!
Powerwise, I'm getting 400hp+
Some mods I've done that may contribute - SARD cat, Questpower downpipe (gives boost creep though), TOMS Ecu.
I've seen rolling road charts from Japan, 1.1bar, 411hp on Aristo with exhaust/ecu/filter.

You ain't getting ripped off, those prices are spot on/cheap.
You CAN replace 1 shock at a time. I'm having to replace 1 strut only after my crash. It is not neccessary to replace both shocks, but bare in mind my Tein Flex shocks have only had about 10,000 miles on them.
1 shock can fail, maybe one side of the car took more punishment. Typically it is my left ball joint that goes with all the stanks and broken tarmac on the left side of the road.
If you are wanting to change to Altezza suspension, you would be best advised to speak to someone like Gareth at Envy or Dave at Pro-Lex UK. They would advise you as to what is best, but I would advise you to get Tein CS for ride comfort or Tein Flex for good handling but still OK for the road. Price about £900 for 4 shocks. You can get an electronic damping controller for about £250 also. Prolex or Envy can order them for you.

Had this OBDed by my independant garage.
It turns out that Sensor 1 Bank 1 O2 sensor (which was replaced Jan 97) was sitting WITHOUT engine running, at about 2.6v. The other O2 sensor was sitting at 3.0V.
It might mean the O2 sensor that was replaced wasn't wired 100% correctly. Lexus service monkeys
Anyway, reset the codes and the lights haven't come on since. So it could just be some sort of blip when a bit extra fuel was pumped in and the O2 sensors didn't like it.

The Lexus GS Mk2 is magic-carpet ride quality on the motorway.
When were your shocks last changed? This makes a big difference.
I suggest Tein CS shocks - I took a ride in a GS with Tein CS and 18s and the ride was excellent.

Without having the engine code read you will never know !
Could be anything ........... unless you specifically done something recently to it ?
I note an invoice from previous owner dated January 2007, which says 'replaced oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 1'. Please note **** fault code Oxygen sensor bank 2 sensor 1' .
I an guessing it's the O2 sensor that was casuing this. I have printed out the fault code meanings from the Net and will take my car to my local garage tommorrow to see. But I am guessing it's the oxygen sensor.

Today my recently purchased RX300 2001 had it's VSC light come on and a light that looks like a 'tap' (maybe engine).
In the manual it says 'take to Lexus dealer'. Of course, I know what a ripoff that will be, so can anyone tell me what it means?
Is it just a service indicator or is it something more serious?

I've got the same problem.
Was going to paint some black anti-corrosion paint on them.
I assume the bars are made of aluminium? if so then unless you have special anti corrosion paint for aluminium it wont work. If the aluminium is corroded you have to ensure you remove 100% or it will come back. With rusty parts u can put a surface treatment on with ot taking it back to bare metal - with aluminium you cant.
Good point, the aluminium isn't rusted as yet. So I guess I need to find some special aluminium paint.

Sounds like poo poo to me - althought their 'may' be a difference but very unlikely.
Something to note is your crumple zones don't work with the tow bar - a friend got hit recently in the towbar and is still suffering whiplash.
I would go to any garage worth their salt to see if it would fit. It's not rocket science lol.
Go back to Lexus also as when I went to the spares dept they could pull up all the import model data no problem on their computers.

I know you can go to www.Soarer.TV to get your GPS/screen converted.
However, I am aware also you can get aftermarket GPS wired in for £350 and the Playstation/Freeview/MP3 memory card slot wired in for additional £250.
Question is where?!!?!?

The 2JZ-GTE engine doesn't engine immobilise from ECU - typically most Aristo V300s have no immobiliser as such / no chip in the key.
It is a tough job to swop the engine, I would make sure it ran 550hp with larger turbo to make it worthwhile.
Problem will be pairing up a transmission that will fit the IS300 but can take 550hp or so.

Thanks for posting that up Paul!
Yeah I phoned an install place and they said I'd lose the amp probably and speakers also.
So I'm trying to get an Aristo with touchscreen. Otherwise I'd need to install a new system, amp at least.
Is your car 4-speaker or 7-speaker stereo?
-
I'm considering buying a Lexus GS/Aristo Mk.2 without touchscreen.
That means it has a 2-din type double height stereo to be replaced.
Was considering replacing it with 2-din size unit from Pioneer / NAV/MP3/DIVX etc.
http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/10/20...3BTi/index.html
Will it just slot in or do I need some sort of fascia to go around the unit?

Hi,
I'm thinking about buying an RX300 2001 model.
Is it part-time FWD then 4WD or permanent 4WD?
Are there any issues with the gearbox to look for? I hear this a weak point on the car. Any advice on how to test for a weak gearbox would be appreciated.

If a Jap Aristo is converted to MPH, does, the ODO run in KMs or MILES?

cheers for the link, looks like im going to have to take a trip to lexus :(
No need, you might want to try doing as this guy did with his 98 vertex :

Basically it seems that fixing the ABS sensor/ cable etc. then taking the car out for a few braking sessions fixed it.
I would also disconnect the Battery maybe just to reset all ECUs.

Haven't found a solution thread yet, but that's a hint.
-
Not sure unplugging them was the right thing to do.
There's a lot of discussion of this problem on clublexus.com forums....they have the same issue after suspension install as the ABS sensors have been tampered with.....again, I told my garage not to touch them or damage etc. and everything was fine with my Tein install.
-
Your ABS lights etc. are most likely on because whoever fitted them has made an **** of it!!!! The ABS sensors are disturbed or broken during coilover install.
I think you need an ECU reset.....but you need those ABS sensors looked at.
My mechanic taped them up carefully before my Tein Flex install.

I've sent you a personal message/e-mail.
