i wouldn't, but thats ur call mate.....
should be 215/45/17 all round on the OEM 17 inch rims mate.
its a aftermarket fox Rs3 alloys mate??

Hi
Just wondering if 205/40/17 would be ok for the front on a is200 and 215/45/17 for the rear?? Would that affect the handling of the vehicle???
-
WIM are in Chesham, Bucks. They are experts at setting up geometry on all sorts of cars including the IS200, and have a very sophisticated (and expensive !) machine to help them do this. A full geometry setup there will help avoid premature tyre wear (a common IS200 problem) and will probably greatly improve the handling (e.g. stability, corner turn-in).
It'll cost you very roughly £100 and it will be money very very well spent.
Checkout their website and details here.
had my steering geo done on saturday @ Fleetline care just off the a23 Purley Way for £75. Car handles superb now.. Anyone wants the number can pm me??

Dos anyone knows how to adjust the rear toe in?

I suppose the element could have burnt out, how old is the car? And if it's one of the pre 01 cars isn't the mirror heater on all the time? (So could be another cause of premature failure)
Hope it hasn't failed completely though as I think they're quite pricey to replace.
hi its a v.reg sport. and yes the heathed mirror stays on all the time but not the n/s. Would it be cheaper if i get a complete mirror unit from the scrappy?

No mate its a belt not a chain...it has to be changed at 60,000 miles..
or 6 years, which means for you the belt should have been changed already or is due now.
Get a reputable garage to examine the belts condition, and if not already done, get it
done asap. £1,200+ rebuild costs aren't worth the risk IMO :o
The Timing Belt should be changed along with the Tensioner & Idler Pulley, plus have the water pump
& bypass hose inspected as to replace them later means taking the timing belt off.
Timing belt approx £30
Tensioner approx £47
Idler Pulley approx £47
Water Pump approx £100
Hope this information helps mate :D
Are you sure the cambelt runs off the waterpump? Cant see anything that says that on the autodata mate.

Hi all,
I have started having problems starting my IS in the evenings and some mornings just wondered if its a common fault/easy fix!? Through the summer it did it once every say 50 starts and turned over but didnt fire until you gave it some revs. I have been reading the forums and it seems this happens to a few people and its just one of thoes things.
However for the last 3 days when I leave my house in the evening (garaged) it starts fine but when I leave the gf's house at 11 it will not start until the 3rd turn with revs. Is getting a bit embarrising!
I have replaced the spark plugs and battery in the last 2000k, any help will be appreciated. Its going in for a service at Lexus may see what they say but am dreading a big repair bill!!

had the same problem with mines. But since i cleaned the throttle body with some injecter cleaner problem havnt occured since even when its really cold..

there was posts on this last year i think it is just the norm with some 200's mine does it now and again
problem sorted. all i done is bought some injecter cleaner and cleaned the throttle body problem havnt occured since..
-
Have you had the car for a while ? I have had occasional problems with my car where it turns over fine but won't fire. I haven't had that problem (touch wood, I've probably jinxed it now !) since I changed the spark plugs.
Is that the sort of problem you have, or is it something else ?
yeas i had it for 2 months now. only started doing it about a week ago. It turns over healthy but only start sometimes after 3/4 attempts. To be honest i changed th spark about a week ago and it stop untill i disconnect the Battery last sunday then it started doing it agin.. any clue??
-
the cold will start to effect a battery that is even just starting to deteriorate - if it only does this on cold mornings and not in the warmer afternoons ( assuming car has not been driven until afternoon) then i would say its the battery IF the turnover is a tiny bit slower than normal.
I have started my car when the batery was really run down - the mirrors were slow to open, dash lights dim etc but it still started.
if its a case of it turns over ok but doesnt start then pump the throttle a few times before trying to start it, i have found this works.
Battery is good.. its happens sometimes in the afternoon when the cars been parked for about 7/8 hrs. Ive changed the spark plugs about a week ago and it stop. I disconnected the Battery on sunday and it started doing it again but not all the time .. any clues?
-
Battery?
Battery is ok. only dos it onces in a while when its really cold only in the morning.

Hi
If you pull the gearstick gaitor up, then you will se 4 bolts that secures the gearstick/gearbox. Now removed the 4 bolts and pull the gearstick out(sometimes it can be a right pain in the arse to get out so have abit of patients with it)...When its out just turn it 180degrees i think and just slide it back into shaft>...Any probz let us know..taaa
