  1. Hi, Driving along and heard a noise, got out and had a look and imagine my surprise to see a broken timing pulley eating its way through the bottom of the timing belt cover! All this while the engine is still running fine. I think there is a good chance that the front of the pulley has broken off but the belt is still timed correctly, as I assume had it parted company fully a large number of crunches noices wouldn've been heard and a dead engine? Currently Lexus are asking for over £500 for the pulley and don't get me started on the timing belt cover! So Im finding out if anybody out there has a pulley or dead engine which I can purchase one from. Please pm me as I'm eager to get the car back on the road Thanks Phill
  2. Hi all, been a while since I was here and as guilty as I feel, its on a scrounging mission for parts MOT pre check has shown that the rear calipers are prety badly seized, along with a dead rear shocker. If anyone out there has a decent breaker then Id be interested in some parts or if there are any better offers Id be interested, particularly in shockers as a little drop all round would be great to justify the cash :-) I recall too that I may be in need of a rear ball joint too as there could be play so any suggestions where to source these would be great too? Please PM me if you may be able to help at all Thankyou all
  3. Yep ANd now after spending a few hours reading I want a SC kit too but it may have to wait a while Xmas n all that jazz :-(
  4. And while I'm at it, an updated list as I've not got some bits on order: - Broken Differential (to be weldable) - Cigarette lighter insert - Aerial - Front bumper insert for NS headlight washer unit (dark metalic blue would be ideal) - Stereo or may consider stereo fascia adapter to fit aftermarket
  5. There is a fuse link in the base of the socket which may have blown on yours. You have to take the whole socket out to see/check it. Once the lighter unit is out, undo the nut underneath the bottom of the socket and you will see a double washer with an insulating disc in between, and a connecting wire between the two washers which is the fuse link. When mine went, I just took the insulating disc out and bolted it back together. Do this at your own risk.... no warranties given or implied... lol. The lighter works if I push or pull it hard to the front or back and accesories work through the socket so I assume the power is there its the actual lighter insert thats tits up I think?
  6. Also would like to add to the list if anyone has an ariel to screw in where a scumbag took mine from or a cigarette lighter insert as mine doesn't heat up Id love to hear from you please. The cars starting to sound worse and worse isnt it!
  7. Thanks! If that's all it is for the kit then I think a strip down n clean is the best option for the front callipers. Ball joints are on Ebay at £35 currently, does anyone have any opinion or experience of them as I assume they will be replacement parts not OEM? Still want a broken diff though?
  8. Hi Guys its time to give the old guy a little tlc so if anyone has spare any of the following then please pm me as I could do with then reasonably soon please. Car is a 1999 is 200 manual 1 front OS brake calliper in good nick or 2 new ones (as I believe no one does seal kits for them any more?) 1 front OS ball joint NEW as mine is growling like a bitch! and if anyone has an old damaged rear diff which they believe will be weld able (IE teeth stripped from gears but would locate correctly to weld up) then please let me know how much you want for it too. Bearings and seals need to still be in good nick please though.
  9. Dont know but it is now fitted, wired up and working. Many thanks to those who PMed me.
  10. Indeed this is true. Fishtailing occurs because the rear wheels loose traction. I f the trailer is loaded to press down on the tow ball it increases traction but reversed and pulling up on the ball it essentially causes you to drift whilst towing an object that doest drift with you. Many thanks guys I have now the tow hitch installed and the details of the electrical side mostly sorted.
  11. Hello :-) My first post and Im asking for help already! Just about to fit a tow bar to my Is200 and it came (second hand) without the actual mounting bolts to secure it to the chassis. Would any of you regulars out there know the thread and ideally the length of the bolts used as we assume its a threaded hole on the car already to fasten them to not bolts n nuts. To my knowledge its a OEM part from Lexus with just the mounting bolts missing. If anyone has any info or parts for the electrical side of things Id appreciate a PM too as I need that too. Thanks in advance guys
