  1. Hi Y'all Just like to say thankx for everyones suggestions a fortnight ago when I first posted the subjet 'bout my lads is200. I changed the coolant sensor 1st and then all the O2 sensors to no avail. I was just about to swap the throttle bodies over (aint it good to have 2 cars the same 2 play with) when I remembered that after the engine had been stripped some of the pickups on the timing belt pully had been stripped. I rebuilt the bad uns with a spot of mig and filed them down. Anyway I thought I would try a pully & sensor swap an whadyano THE LIGHT STAYED OUT. I have run the car upto temperature 3 times now & it seems ok. I will put another post on in the near future to let you know how it goes THANKS DAVY
  2. I'm in Runcorn Chris You could always contact Steve from Charlesworth motors (Glossop) 014578 64416, but he lives in Runcorn :D Cheers for that Gord.
  3. and......... what are you using to read OBD(internet obd reader or full Dealership unit) Tinternet one Matt it may very well be worth getting it plugged into a Toyota one, if your throwing a CEL, then something which your tinterweb sourced reader isnt reading is ...being detected withought a full ecu scan, you can pick at straws all year long, starting at every sensor being replaced, considering it overheated. have you replaced the coolant sensors, and the fan controler sensor on the rad, also the O2 sensors, and the one after the cat. those i would defo change, you say the light comes on, after the engine warms up, or is there another ....moment that triggers the ligght however i have a sneaking feeling that it is a VVTI fault, that is being detected, did you have to rework the head at all i need more detail I hav'nt replaced any of the sensors yet. The rad fan kicks in out at approx the right times. The head did have a light skim, don't know how much came off. Engineer told my lad it was a knats whisker an charged him £35.00. Trouble is I dont know how big the Knat was| ok, i would change the coolant temp sensors, as a start Right o. Ive got a week off work week after this so i'll make a start swapping sensors round next Sunday
  4. Cheers fot that Chris. The car is out of T&T at the mo but Ive a mate who does recovery. If I can't suss it next week I might take you up on that

  8. They were left outside in the rain siezed and shorted out. my stupid mistake
  9. You must of had other lights on the dash for this much damage, water, oil lights ? do you know what was the cause of the damage, oil pump, water pump,no water, on oil ? Gord YEP Water Oil Oil level full monty. When the car came down the hill it looked like some sort of cartoon. Rattling like a tank and coldn't be seen for smoke. When I lifted the bonnet even the rubber bushes holding No 2 engine cover on had melted. Man was it HOT. Upon stripping the timing belt was less than 1/3 of its original size so I think that was the cause. Engine sounds sweet now but I just can't suss out this light.
  10. Yeah weird that no fault code shows up but also that I can reset the light from the fault code window. The airflow sensor is plugged in. Could the ECU have been damaged when laddo knacked the motor? was gonna try the 1 from my car today but I did'nt have anti-tamper bit for the cover. That'll teach me bout lending out my tools. is it a good idea to try or am I barkin up the wrong tree. or am I just barkin
  11. Just had a look on t laptop and the o2 sensors bank1 sensor1 bank1 sensor2 and bank2 sensor1 are reading between 0.16 and 0.815 at tickover warm engine. does this make any sence?
  12. Hi yall. Im a new member to LOC and I was wondering if anyone can help. STORY SO FAR My sons IS200 had it's enginge management light come on so in his wisdom he decided to drive the 25 miles back home. Result:- 1 very hot rattling motor. Dad has rebuilt said engine ( NEW RINGS, SHELLS, BELTS, TENSIONER, RADIATOR, KENLOWE FANS, HEAD SKIM ect) and spent a small fortune. Engine back in car and management light is on. Compression test on warm motor showed 185psi on all 6 pots. Swapped coil packs + injectors with same from my sportcross to no avail. Connected OBD 11 and no fault codes show but the management light can be reset. Stays out between 5 & 10 mins then reapears. Sometimes when motor is warm light goes out on its own for a short time. Any suggestions please. Thankx in advance
