  1. edit: Just noticed it is Eastern Western (As in Edinburgh Lexus) who are running it.... we can look forward to sky-high servicing costs then!!

    Hi

Oh well! :crybaby: I had just got used to the other lot and am about to look at a change of car and was going to go back to them. Had no experience of Eastern Western.

Might take a run at the weekend and have a look around.

  2. Hello i have it fitted in mine it is ok but you will have to redo your ipod as you need your albums created as new playlists

so it then looks at them as each CD rather than a load of songs

May i suggest what i did

keep the ipod touch for your dayto day use.

and get hold of a ipod 20gb or 30gb ipod video (ithink they were called) or vesion 5

then create all your playlists on that then just leave that in the glove box

pluged in to the lexus MM system

works great for me, then every few months i bring it in connect to pc and

add new content (making sure your itunes is set up to manually add music)

    or it might wipe everything.

    Regards

    Matt

    Hi

Thanks for that as i did not know. I will look at that when i decide what im doing as an option to leave it perm in the car.

  3. Sorry you got in the firing line, but you can see how often this comes up. I think the most relevant thread to answer your questions is

    http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...rt=#entry484685

Hi. No worries at all, and thank you very much for the thread. :) I do not understand why or how I missed this. :tsktsk:

I will look into this at Lexus this week and see if i can get a decent price!

  4. You did a search on what exactly? The search facility? Or just being plain lazy knowing someone else will do it for you?

Type in "ipod interface" in the search facility box and guess what? http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/search.ph...;sa=Search#1204

    Simples???

    Thanks for the abuse, simple?

I am not lazy, not trying to get someone else to do it for me and I know where the search box is. I know how frustrating it gets with people looking for the same info all the time on a forum, but never felt the need to have a go and could not find the question.

I did the search and found the list you did and decided that I probably did not want to use a third party device which all seemed to require work that may invalidate warranties should i have issues with the MM system in the future. While I continued to look and price third party devices, in case that was my only solution, I thought that i should ask the question. I really did not see the harm in that. If the answer lies in a thread where i have missed the answer, for that i apologise for breaking your etiquette rules.

    Cheers

  5. Hi

I am using a iTouch with my 250 via the Aux socket in the armrest box. It works fine but was looking for a more complete solution. I have done a search and I see that there are a few things available but the car is under warranty and I am not keen to hack at it just yet.

Am I correct in saying that Lexus has one of these the IS 250 with the MM package?

    How much is it, approximately?

Does it give you some/all control via the touch screen?

    Thanks

  6. Evening All! :D

The steering "recall" interests me in case its all related. The steering seems to go very light at times with no feed back then .........

Im not sure. Im going to get it to the dealer as soon as I can, this week if I can swing it as i hate it the way it is. I will then get teh AA to have a look at it if i am not happy.

@GWilso: I wish i could, but the drive is a bit much no matter how good the man seems to be :D :D

  7. Hi

Any help appreciated. I needed to replace the phone line into the back of the Sky+ box. I bought one of these, not thinking too much and sorted it all out.

However, this will not work when plugged into a phone, but does that matter? Will this do the job or do i need the type that works with a phone for it to work properly?

    Thanks

  8. I would take the car back to the dealer for them to investigate possible cause, assuming of course that your tyres have tread left. How long have you had the car?

    Hi

I bought the car in Dec and its just about a year old. The tyres have plenty of tread on them no issues there.

    Thanks

    Greig

I would get it booked into the dealer for a full check since it is only 1 yr old. There could realistically be any number of reasons for this happening. It might be a good idea to try for a loan car or extended demo with a similar car to see if the things you are encountering replicate themselves on another similar age/model IS250.

    Hi

Good idea. I'll have to speak to them first thing on Monday. Hope this can happen without too much hassle, i fear not though.

  9. That does sound unusual (and scary!), especially that it's having trouble driving in a straight line - I had a problem a few years ago where it was quite easy to get the back end out and this was cured by having the geometry checked so that's a possibility......

Either way as the car's under warranty I'd take it to the dealer and let them have a good check over it before spending any of your own money :)

I think this may have to be my next port of call. I reset the tyre pressures and managed to get it all over the place at a round about. Also noticed that the steering can go very light at certain points and the car appears to understeer at low speeds. Not sure if this related, but i saw a thread on here about a faulty rack. :crybaby:

I fear the dealer visit cause i know the answer they will give after looking at the car on the ramp and a 5 minute drive in city traffic. "Nothnig wrong mate"

  10. Hi

Just to add to this old chestnut...this has just worked on my is250 SEL-MM. Had to try it a few times and the long 15 or 30 seconds was not long enough. I held it in for 60s. Worked a treat!

Now.........anyone know how to shut the warning up for the "door open". Driving me nuts. If you do it at the wrong time according to the car, it cant be stopped almost!!! :shutit:

    Cheers

  11. Hi Peeps :D

Hope someone can help, or at least has some ideas as to what is happening here. I split the post into two shorter explanations

Tail Happy: A few weeks after i got the car the back stepped out at a round-about. Nothing too bad, just a big twitch which at the time I put down to slippery surface and me being too enthusiastic on the right pedal. A few weeks later with me being careful on roundabouts, it happens on two round-abouts in succession. Both of which i was driving like Miss Daisy on Valium due to traffic anyway. The first really caught me off guard and the tail nearly connected with a car on the outside! Not fun! The surface as far as i can see was not too bad, but wet. Difficult to gauge but no one else seemed to be having a problem. The second roundabout while I was ready for it this time was slower than the first. There have been other smaller "incidents" during all this time.

This second problem might be connected, but not too sure how. I was coming off a round-about when one of the moments, as described above, happened. The slide ended and I straightened it out for the connection to the dual carriageway. Then started what i can only describe as the back end moving around. Like having two flat tyres, back end on ice........it was so bad the first time i thought a tyre had burst and I pulled over! Really strange! This has happened twice the second without the roundabout fun first as i accelerated. Kicked in around 60. A real brown moment! When I stopped checked around got in, it was all ok again.

I called the Lexus dealer and they said this is new to them and I should check the tyres. All fine! Tyre pressures fine! It's ruining the car for me now. I am worried that IF there is something wrong that it will happen at speed and really cause some damage to cars and/or worse, people. The other half will not drive it which is no use.

Before I change tyres, pay for the alignment to be checked etc (which because of my location to the dealer ) means a day off work. I would appreciate any thoughts or indeed a solution to this.

Sorry for the length of this post but I wanted to make it as complete as possible.

    Thanks

    Greig :D

  12. Hi

Have a read here at the post and some of the guides. They will keep you on the straight with most of it. Friendly place for the most part, just ask some questions.

On the last point of discussion, Claying will remove a lot of surface contaminants and help prepare for polish or wax. It can be bought as Meguiars kit in Halfrauds. But there are better out there.

    Greig :D

  13. Dunno if this has been covered before, but cannot find it in the forum. Does anyone know if the IS wiper blade (not just the rubber) can be removed and replaced with say something from Halfords? I have tried and they seem to be well fixed to the arm.

    Hello

I have posted on here about this recently. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=55955 Halfrauds do there own wipers and say they fit, but I have not tried them as I had issues with another car and their own brands. Other brands Halfrauds have, do not fit the IS

    Cheers
