  1. Hi Guys, As soon as I get one problem sorted another one crops up! :( ok, every morning when I go to start the car it just clicks, after a few attempts it starts. For the rest of the day its fine, then come the next the morning the same problem. One morning it wouldn't start at all, jump started it, then worked fine, thinking it was the battery, bought a new battery. However, the same problem is there! every morning since, it clicks but so far will start after a few attempts. Is this a start motor that is going? any reason why it's a problem first thing in the morning and the rest of the day its fine? (It's not exactly cold weather at the moment either) Doing a bit of reading, rather than get a new start motor which is expensive, can I just replace contacts and/or brushes - is that right? thanks for your help, Swift. NB: The car is a Lexus GS300 2000W (mkII) I've just noticed I've wrongly posted in the LS forum - anyone know how to move it into the GS forum, thx
  2. Thx guys, absolutely awesome help. I'm just too much of diy noobie to tackle this, got the local mechanic to do it this morning, he's done a good job, tho he mentioned he had to do a bit of soldering, along with the connector for the mirror to the plate there were 2 wires that need soldering! Cheers
  3. Hi Guys, Thx so much for the pics and the number for help, I'm just seeing u're posts now (9:30pm), I spent the afternoon struggling with the glass plate, the guides I found from searching on this site, there were 2 guides one showing how to replace the wing mirror and the other to replace the glass. Replacing the glass guide also said to feed a cloth from the top thru to bottom. I tried a cloth but couldn't get it to feed it thru as its quite tight the space. I gave up on this and thought the same could be achieved by simply trying to pull at the bottom of the glass. Neither worked, I thought if I can't get the glass off, I've got no choice with the door panel so booked the car with a local mechanic tomorrow morning for £35. Just gave it another go...errr with a little help from the misus and one of her makeup tools to feed through the cloth......and hey presto it worked! pulled the cloth at the bottom and the glass clipped of the bottom How hard is it to get the door panel off, is it simply a case of undoing the screws the door panel comes off? not sure what to do now, use the mechanic or give it ago....or maybe let the misus do it :) Thx
  4. I'm having problems trying to get the glass mirror off, tried following the guide - pull the lower side of the mirror up but it won't disconnect, I don't want to use too much force in case I break anything. Is this guide also for the mk1 is a different procedure required for the mk2. any help appreciated, thx
  5. Hi folks, finally managed to get hold of a used wing mirror. I've done a search on here and there is a guide on how to replace the wing mirror, however, it looks like its a guide for a gs300 mk1 as I can't seem to find the scews to remove the door panel. I haven't tried removing the tweeter cover just yet, but I assume this will come off. I also have to replace the glass mirror as the used one is completely discoloured, hopefully, this is a case of clipping it off. Any help guys, really appreciated. Thx
  6. I'm struggling trying to figure how to upload images, there doesn't appear to be the usual file upload facility, instead it appears you have to upload an image to a website and then have to link to it. Tried following the guidelines using imageshack.us, however, the image is not showing in the preview post and errors with saying dynamic tags are not allowed in tags In any case, I've had another look at the wing mirror, P4UL T pic below is spot on, it is the arm that comes out of the car and the wing mirror slots into it; it is the arm part below the wing mirror that is broken. Looking at the wing mirror from below, there are 2 screws, basically it is broken between the two screws. All I really need is the arm part. So far, it doesn't seem likely these will be sold seperately. Will just keep trying to ring round. Wish I knew the right name for it Thanks for trying to help guys.
  7. Hi, I'll try and get pic sorted. It's basically, the hand the wing mirror sits on. Where the red circle is, the bit that is broken is just to the left and below the wing mirror.
  8. Hi folks, Some geezer decided to take a swipe at my wing mirror. The wing mirror itself is intact, all the electrics appear to be working fine. However the ledge which the wing mirror sits on is broken. I don't know what the right term the ledge thing is called, does anyone know if I can just obtain the ledge thing or if anyone has a spare one that I could buy. Ringing around it appears I have to buy the wing mirror as well which is overkill and a lot more expensive. Anyone help?
  9. If its annoying screeching type noise that stays on, its probably the brake master cylinder. At least it was in my case. It was a very painful experience. Similar to you, I had gone on holiday for 2 weeks, it was left standing. Came back and a day or so later that noise started. Lexus quoted 2 grand to fix! - yikes! Ended up getting a 2nd hand one from a parts company and got lexus to fit it.
